Tbh the 90s Blade movie is severely underrated. Love those first two movies

Blade definitely isn’t OMEGA level- but i would definitely settle for having his powers and skillset. Blade was the maaaaan!

I guess this explains why I haven't seen you or any other comic book RU-vidrs talk about new Blade comics. It's a shame he should get new comics and good stories. Perhaps they shouldn't just limit him to just hunting vampires and have him deal with supernatural threats like Dr. Strange and Ghost Rider.

There's an answer for Blade's Daywalker "chicken of the egg" question. There was a panel interview/discussion with the 90's Spider-Man Animated series writers. When Blade came up, the head writer revealed that it was actually them that ended up making Blade half Vampire first before both the movie and the comic. The movie seems to have followed their interpretation in particular because Whistler, Blade's mentor in the movie, comes from the cartoon and not the comics. I remember watching the conversation about a year ago, so it should still be on RU-vid somewhere. I'll link it in an edit if I come across it again.

Something about a vampire character being created by a person with the name Wolfman is very funny to me. Also, Colan sounds close enough to Cullen for it to be even funnier

Blade is too cool of a character to limit to vampire hunting. He has the potential to be much more if writers handled him with respect. I've always wanted him to be a herald of Knull.

Im actually pretty excited for the Blade movie, and I'm curious to see what this Blade will be like compared to Wesley Snipes portrayal. I'm also really looking forward too the soundtrack, especially if they go the black panther route and make like a proper album.

What made me like blade so much( besides Wesley playin him) as a kid as was how cold and quiet he was. And his sense of humor

Fun fact: in the comics Blade is actually British as opposed to American. He was raised in a London Brothel in Soho by sex workers.

Wesley Snipes was perfect for this role, but I think Michael Jai White would've been a better choice over Mahershala Ali. Michael Jai White is real life martial arts practitioner. He is Spawn, Bronze Tiger, Universal Soldier, Blood and Bone, Undisputed 2, Never Back Down, Falcom Rising, Dark Knight. He definitely is the better choice. Also, Blade stories can be much better if the writers think outside the box. Blade doesn't only have to fight vampires. His power set and skillz make him great as street level hero or he can be elevated to a magical status by implementing him into Dr. Strange story arcs where Blade gets involved with voodoo and witchcraft. He can become friends with Brother Voodo and learn how to use it and add to his powerset. Blade can have cool adventures with Spider/Wolverine team ups, Xmen team ups, Dr. Strange or Avengers team ups. Or even associate him with Wakanda and create a story line where he ends up dating Storm or marrying Shuri. I have so many ideas. Blade can be used in any storyline, but the writers need to back away from vampires for a while.

I only have ONE thing to say as a comic fan...... I LOVE BLADE.....

I love Blade and hope he's gets a continued storyline. The biggest fail by marvel thus far is when they tried to make his dad white. It was funny when Blade mocked it.

What made blade (the movie) great was Wesley Snipes, I'm know Ali is a great actor, but with how marvel writing is doing now, I have concerns on the new movie.

Man. Wouldn’t it be sick to have Blade go up against the Predator? I feel like that’s a pretty good universe to turn up the horror aspects of Blade/Predator/Aliens

I think the daywalker idea might have started in the Spiderman 90's animated series as he was a dhampir in it instead of daywalker but still used serums to suppress his need for blood. I also believed that is when Whisker was first created.

Watching the Blade movies as a kid was my initial intro into vampires. I had a dvd of Blade Trinity that literally got wore out because I watched it so much as a kid.

In spite of a lifelong love relationship with comics I’d never heard of Blade before the movies.

Blade 2 is my favorite Blade movie. IMO it’s a perfect combination of action and horror.

I always wanted to get more into Blade but always had a hard time. I think you said it well, he’s there but to me it seems kinda disjointed. Maybe I never looked hard enough.

Of course Morbius’ first encounter with Blade was Blade trying to kill him. That’s kind of every vampire’s first encounter with him, Mike is just one of the lucky ones to get a second meeting

Blade is the godfather of Marvel movies, not iron man like folks think it is.

Regarding Morbius "...he was a super hero...when he wasn't consuming folks." One of the best lines, had me cracking up.

Blade was one of my favorites of all time with snipes. I could watch blade 2 for the rest of my life. Blade 3 didn't do it for me, they pulled a Disney and turned Dracula into a joke. At the rate Disney is going i dont trust them doing anything good with blade.

I remember Blade from reading Marvel comics in the 70's. Blade was one of stranger characters because the comics code was changing. Seeing Blade in the 90's was really awesome, especially with Kris Kristopherson. I think Wesley Snipes is yet to have his best work. I hope Ryan Reynolds can get this going!

I'll still go back and watch the original Blade movie any day of the frikkin week.

Let's get Jonathan Hickman to do a 2 or 3 year supernatural comic run. Blade, Midnight Suns, Doctor Strange, Dracula, all that type of stuff. I'm not a huge fan of vampires, but I like Blade. Doesn't have to be Hickman, just someone who can write a compelling, interwoven, multi-year story.

Blade Vol 4 technically barely exists and everyone references the volumes incorrectly. In 2015 Marvel tried to release a comic BLADE THE HUNTER (Blade Vol 4) with Blade being a Female. The 1st book sold so poorly it got cancelled. There are 6 total covers, only 1 of them is shown on CLZ. So, the newest entry (2023) that everyone on eBay refers to as Volume 4 is actually/technically Volume 5. I'm sure Marvel would like to forget it was even a thought, though I'm sure it's what sparked the idea of Bloodline: The Daughter Of Blade. I have a huge Blade collection and have been down the recent wormhole for the past 6-7 years now. There is what consists of Blades Main Story: Of course, Tomb of Dracula. Blade The Vampire Hunter Vol1 (94-95) "Strange Tales" is part of this Run. Blade The Vampire Hunter Vol2 (99-00) Blade Vol 1 (98-99), Blade Vol 2 (02) MAX, Blade Vol 3 (06-07) "It takes one to Kill one", Blade Vol 4 (OCT'15) The Hunter "Raising the Stakes", Blade Vol 5 (2023). Everything else out there is a mini series or one shot or separate appearances or side runs or separate universes, i.e. Darkhold, Vampire Nation.

You MUST HAVE a great antagonist for a great protagonist every single great hero has a great villain

Blade is great but i think he needs a reworking with some interesting additional powers/abilties. maybe even some new weaknesses. or weapons. or idk. an evil twin from a parallel world that has no powers but is all lex luther like. just something new, different, and intriguing would be great.

Let's also not forget that popularity ramped up after he appeared in the 1994 Spider-Man series. Where he used a frickin LIGHTSABER.

Blades first appearance was in 1973?! NICE, I was born in 1973, October. I remember seeing back and random packaged issues when i was little and youd get the scary books batched together, same for the rest. But whenever I saw Tomb of Dracula ads or comics, Blade was always nearby. Every time I saw him thereafter his Look was stylistically up to the times of his appearance. Then the look was solidified by the Wesley Snipes films. That look carried over to the subsequent shortly lived Blade tv series but also in the comics as well.
