Time travel makes everything weird: Scott and clone Jean have a baby named Nathan(Cable). Nathan gets infected with a techno-organic virus(infected with future technology) by Apocalypse. Nathan gets sent into the future so the virus doesn't kill him, but finds out he can't be cured. Still-infected-Nathan(now going by Cable) goes back in time using the time machines he has access to in the future to stop 7000 year old Apocalypse from doing all the bad things Apocalypse does. When Cable goes back he accidentally infects Apocalypse with the virus and, because Cables virus IS future technology, Apocalypse gains access to the technology which allows him to "evolve" further to become the guy who, in the near-future, would infect Cable with the virus, and start the circle all over again. (Hope this helps, but I doubt it, sorry I did my best to keep it as close to simple as possible)
@@plindquist84 Thanks for explaining this. Reminds me of the Terminator paradox, where events in the future affect events in the past, creating a paradox that can't be escaped.
Exactly. But the techno-organic virus carried trace genetic material from its origin. For 2000 years Apocalypse knew he had to it least find the person who infected him and make sure they had them virus. Enter Mr. Sinister. A geneticist beyond his era, who, after being transformed by Apocalypse, had an obsession with the Summers bloodline. He was also the one who created the clone of Jean Grey which allowed for the birth of Nathan. Apocalypse also allowed the Clan Askani to survive because he knew they would have to train Nathan and provide him with tume travelling capabilities.
Who the fuck is that It's the man outta time Who the fuck is that He likes to fight crime Who the fuck is that He hangout with pool Who the fuck is that But he ain't a fool It's fucking cable fucking cable Anyone who played the deadpool game 😆
Black Koshinomi He wasn't in every episode. Usually aside from brief spots in 'Slave Island' and 'The Cure', he was mostly in multipart stories. 'Time Fugitives' for example, which is one of the best stories in the show.
elmarce1983 'Beyond Good & Evil'. Possibly the best storyline of the entire series. It's a shame the show didn't end on this, instead of those *other* episodes that followed it.
I want to see a fan-film where Cable just monologue about his origin "I am the son of cyclops and the clone of his dead wife (Well she was dead at the moment) who later went insane, I was infected by infected by a techo-organic virus , I was later rescued by time travellig half-sister (But full sister on a genetic sister) and I found myself 2000 years in the future...that's where my clone twin got involved" Also apparently Cyclop pick up girl at family reunion
So sometimes you change the past and it changes the future, but other times you change the past and it makes everything stay the same because you were supposed to change the past anyway? Great Scott!
Cable is one of my favorites, this was a tidy wrap up! I've read cable and deadpool and remember that and know the basics but the whole Jean/Rachel/Madeline I never knew all the way through. Thanks! And I wish cable was being portrayed years earlier so Ron Perlman could have a go haha but Liam Neeson is a great choice if he takes it
harry scott Why not? Maybe that's just future English! I mean the kid grew-up 2-THOUSAND-years in the future, do you know how much English has evolved in the last thousand years!
This is a bit confusing. If this time travel paradox is part of the Marvel universe, it effectively means that actions are predestined to happened. Cable did not have a choice to act differently, because everything else would have created an effect without any cause. Pardon my question, but is this predestined future a part of Marvel comics? Do they really narrate these heroes as part of a fixed mythology? I hope this question is not too annoying, but I really care about the philosophy behind these comics.
Once I saw Cable for the first time, years ago as a child, I was hooked. I use to own Cable comics, posters, toys, etc. Cable was always my favorite "non X-Man" so to speak. Gambit being my favorite X-Man. So excited to see Cable in the Deadpool film. They need to bring Cable to the X-Men movies or straight up make a Cable movie! He has SO MUCH LORE and Story it's crazy!!!
Liefeld created a merc cyborg named Cable with no backstory. Claremont created baby Nathan Summers who was infected with the technovirus. Nicieza wrote the story that revealed Cable and Nathan were the same person.
+collin corbean The character first appeared as a newborn infant in Uncanny X-Men #201 (Jan. 1986), created by writer Chris Claremont, while Cable's adult identity was created by artist/co-writer Rob Liefeld, and first appeared in The New Mutants #87 (March 1990) Though the artist Rob Liefeld is responsible for his visual design, name, and much of his personality, it is claimed that Cable also got some inspiration from editor Bob Harras. Liefeld explains the creation of the character: “I was given a directive to create a new leader for the New Mutants. There was no name, no description besides a 'man of action', the opposite of Xavier. I created the look, the name, much of the history of the character. After I named him Cable, Bob suggested Quinn and Louise had Commander X."
Excellent explanation. Coming from someone who collected these all the way through you summed up years of enjoyment with this whole storyline without spoiling the Stryfe storyline
so in the 616 time line cable makes alpocolipse into what's he is currently but like you mentioned the time paradox is it ever fixed or expanded appone ( I'm new to comics so sorry of this is a stupid question )
+l3ng3ndaryl1nk Nope. Marvel just leaves this paradox open. What's really gonna blow your mind is that every time cable appears in Marvel's stories, they just say that this appearance was during his journey into the past to stop apocalypse.
so because of cables paradox and deadpools 4th wall breaks they make a perfect team , and also can anyone link a good chronological time line of the marvel 616 because alot that i find says read new avengers before disassembled but that dosent seem right
Rob, you give some great overviews of every character that you talk about on your channel. You are great for new jacks as well as for old time comic fans alike. Congrats to you and thanks.
On a real, who are these 284 people hitting the dislike button? You're great Rob, don't let anyone get you down, keep going, you are a service to RU-vid
Dats actually a really good pick for Cable! He's proven he can do a warrior in Clash of The Titans, and he can be great in action ( Hannibal Season 2. Watch it, it's fucking awesome when he fights ). The only problem I see with it is his accent, and his build.
+Sean Hickey his build is just about right and I think the accent would add to the character rather than take away besides he's supposed to be from the future it could be explained that in that time languages merged like in blade runner I think his serious tone would play very well with deadpools outlandish nature and its impossible to look at the man and not see a bad ass
+nikki lafleur I didn't know he was in Dr strange but since their two different studios I can't see why he couldn't Chris Evans played human torch and captain America same guy that played valstag in Thor also played punisher in war journal McAvoy played in wanted and prof X in the last two and up coming Xmen movies we had two different Quicksilvers in two different marvel movies released by two different studios in the same year unless he just doesn't want to do it or fox doesn't want him to I can't see why he can't he'd be perfect for the part
+Alan Mendez Those details are precursors to the creation of Cable. Showing little history and building blocks to characters. The fact that that's what you have to comment on kind of tells me you're probably a little insecure on the idea of feminism than you actual content presented. It's just information. It shouldn't be that offensive or you shouldn't be even the slightest sensitive to it.
aeris44 im not at all... all I was saying was that the information regarding that has no significant importance to the cable character... so rather than be a fanboy trying to jump to conclusions and ready to defend the fandom actually learn that that was boring and useless information, nor was I offended nor feel sensitive to it... and you're right a little history doesnt hurt.... but only when its relevant, that was more to a history building block to the Jean Grey or her cloned character rather than Cable. so you got schooled there buddy
Mister Brown dont know what a mensa meeting is but that whole crap was completely irrelevant despite it being useless information to the cable character
It's always enlightening and a pleasure to watch your explanation videos. A bibliography of the comic issues you cover would be great. In case I ever feel the need to go find this particular story to read for myself. But that's probably too much work, so it's cool. Keep up the great work.
Cable was so popular in the 90's .i thought by now he would have his own movie .And is he the next X-Men movie .Since he and Apocalypse are always going after each other .And great video as always Rob .Even if I'm not Cable fan ,I still think he is cool .
dude, i love your content. always on point and in depth but your mic is just blowing up. it might be cause your voice is such a low register or you're just too close to it when recording but the mic is almost always overblown on normal volume.like i said, it doesnt detract from the awesomeness of your content, just thought you might wanna know.
Dude you were right! Cable's origin is super confusing...But hey, great job explaining everything on detail for me that I wasn't too familiar with the story. Thanks and keep the good work!
Hi, great job on this video! I would love it if you can do a video explaining the entire Summers family tree. You know, as a Marvel Super Fan, there is a mythology that all of the Marvel mutants share the same bloodline. Thoughts? Here is what I know of the Summers...
Your videos are so great? We are able to understand them so clearly with your great pronunciation and clear comprehension of comics? Yet? Every sentence you say? Seems? To be finished? With a ??? question.
i would love for you to do a origin and abilities video of omega red! i love that guy and wish he was used more frequently! love your videos by the way! keep it up!
Liam Neeson as Cable would be BADASS. Good explanation. Time travel is always loopy to explain... The only bit I found a little hard to follow was the Days Of Future Past section about Raechel Summers... but that's probable more to do with my general unfamiliarity with the points in those issues.
hey Rob enjoy ur chanel. I just wanted 2 share that I just watch tyrone magnus review 4 deadpool n at the end he talks about how much he loves ur channel. I agreed keep on with all great work.
One thing about the old conservative Jean Grey and modern version of her that sometimes modern writers underlook: Jean has a golden heart. Despite everything that happens to her, she is still a good person, even with the Dark Phoenix, just explore dark aspects of the human mind, not exactly how evil Jean is. At the core of her character she is a hero, and thats why fans like her, because she choose to end her own life to save her friends, because she can't allow herself to become a monster. In other words, we all have our wolf inside, what makes someone a good person is how much you are willing to sacrifice to keep the wolf away.
Hey man, this video is AWESOME. I loved Josh Brolin as Cable and I hope they get into a little bit of that in the next Deadpool and X-Force movies. They have the opportunity to do something great with this in Dark Phoenix, but we shall see. One way or another I love the Cable we got in DP 2.
so Cable got infected with the Techno virus as an infant, because his future self traveled back in time, fought Apocalypse, resulting in Apocalyspe being infected by the Techno virus, making it so that Apocalypse is able to infect infant Cable with the Techyno Virus. this shit is even more confusing than the John Connor storyline in Terminator.
