I love these type of characters, particularly just 80s, 90s super weirdness like all the X-men space stuff. Maybe it's just my nostalgia but I always liked the more offbeat characters, plus just more interesting character designs.
I remember a comic from X-Men where they went to the Skrull planet right before Galactus went there, and the Skrulls basically LARPing as Earth's heroes xP It was one of my favorites X-Men stories immediatly, even tho I watched entirety of Evolution and all Movies
Q of the Day: Yes, characters like Corsair are what I primarily want from the Marvel Legends line. I appreciate the matte finish as well. Aside from shiny plastic, another one of my pet peeves is using metallic paints when it’s not warranted. It’s nice to see that Corsair wasn’t saddled with either.
Most people don't like the face printing tech but I do enjoy it because the 2015 Hasbro faces had wonky looking faces with the eyes or even really bad paint issues.
I painted the bandana the proper blue (the whole thing is one piece so to make it swivel they woulda had to make it two) and added Silver Samurai shoulder pads that a friend gave me the idea to do and now I love this figure.
It probably says Starjammer for copyright reasons, like when they make Autobot Hotrod or Marvel's Storm. Not sure why they didn't do the "Marvel's" thing for Corsair, but maybe they want all the Starjammers to match or something and some *other* Starjammer shares their name with another Marvel character and would need "Starjammer" in front? Unless they're really betting on a Christopher and Katherine Summers 2-pack. I'm very happy to get more obscure characters. For the super A-list and even B-list characters, I trust that an import company will get around to it. But I don't think any import company is ever going to get around to the Starjammers.
Holy cow that score tho! Did not expect that. But I really like this obscure character, never would thought he would make it in ML line. Nice review as always.
I don't mind having Corsair because people have been wanting the StarJammers tram for a long time and since he does look cool, I'm only getting the Astonishing X-MEN Cyclops and Emma Frost to use a villain since I was more familiar with her as an X-MEN villain, Awesome review Anthony.
This guy's ab-crunch just proves my argument from the yesterday's War Machine Video and how Hasbro just needs to make the permanent change to diaphragm cuts.
The costume/outfit is good for Legends where the sash covers the waist and the V shape for the red becomes the ab crunch. Collar and gloves also make it less bland. Might be my first box get since he is probably an unknown to non Marvel readers so might go on clearance.
When Hasbro gets the prototype, they should notice all the mistakes when they move the figure around. They just don't care, or notice the flaws. Maybe both? It would have made too much sense for the headband to be rotatable.
I have been waiting for Corsair for a Long while, he's been on my to-do custom list for 2 years. His face is.. just ok. As a part of the Summers family brood, he's kinda necessary. But maybe the 90s costume instead of this classic would have added some oomf.
I like the more obscure characters being made but most of them are really poorly made with the old bodies and poor paint. Like I was excited for the doctor spectrum figure but the execution made me easily pass on it and they put it in a 2 pack with a character i don't want. I was gonna pass on this because i don't really know or care about him but seeing it in hand I actually like it
I am really not feeling the red painted lips that recent figures have, especially when it's an 80s design where the original comics didn't color them in
Biling him as Starjammer Corsair is weird, it's usually when they use a name so generic that it's uncopyrightable that they'll bade the figures as something like 'Marvel's Thing' or 'Marvel's Vulture' so I wonder if this is some variant on that idea? Although what other fictional characters are called Corsair I'm not sure, I think there's any need to make him stand out. There is a character called The Corsair in Doctor Who but they're pretty obscure and never actually appear onscreen.
I love when they do obscure characters and especially if they do them right. I don't care for this character, maybe I'll get it for fodder when it drops in price.
Crocs or Duck feet? which is better? Im ok w/ the crocs cuz the duck feet are done way to much, also wish they would just make a foot that doesnt look like theyre just wearing socks all the time
His head looks like real human proportions to me. Seems like his head got the same treatment as the 3 pack Banshee, very detailed and realistic looking with comic book feet. I think I’m okay with that.
@@AnthonysCustoms Then you aught to love DC Multiverse figures with their weird tiny heads on huge bodies 😆 I prefer figures that are somewhat proportionate to real life for that suspension of disbelief, aside of characters that like Hulk and those who are clearly outside the norm. Actually, if I can find him discounted, I may pick him up thanks to your review and use him for a head swap.
@@AnthonysCustoms I suppose that depends on the source material then, he's been drawn where it looks like he has long socks on and then at times with hooker boots. As for proportions, that depends on the artists style, original source material he is human proportioned.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corsair_(character)
I wanted this figure back when Legends were $20 but now I'll wait until it goes on sale. Also, is his mouth not too wide? It seems like it goes to the outer edges of his eyes rather than the middle of the eyes.
You gave a figure with an ab crunch like that a 9/10? I bought this guy for the Ch'od arm. It totally let me down when I was checking his ab articulation, and I, too, noticed the huge gap. I feel like whipping at the wall bruh. 😮😮😢😂
@@AnthonysCustoms Sorry man, I just don't see Corsair as 9/10 for Marvel Legends, that's all. Ultron and Venom from 60th anniversary 2 pack are 9/10 for me.
Some weird muck ups: ugly ab crunch, face looking a tad off and the peculiar feet. Those things aside he looks pretty good. I do like the more obscure characters. They add variety to the A-Listers. Trouble is Hasbro usually give them short shrift, with either an old crappy buck or sod all accessories. Orb would be of interest to me, but not on the old Bucky Cap bod.
