Some people would say that you are being too harsh or picky, but honestly for how much the ML figures have skyrocketed in price as well as the HasLab stuff costing an arm and a leg, being harsh and picky is exactly the type of review that we need
I agree. I love ML and have collected since the Toybiz days, but $7 a figure vs. $25...? That's some b.s. when we're seeing quality control issues, little to no paint, and the mismatched plastics on joints on a $200 figure? Why couldn't they just paint over them to match?
i used to not like watching you but taking off the fanboy glasses and realizing you kinda a marvel legends fan too lmao, you a go to watch for me now. : )
I can't get over how creepy his face is, especially the grinning one. He looks like he's gonna come alive a night and strangle me in my sleep. And at his size, he could.
For $200 you're allowed to be picky. It's definitely a much larger Marvel Legends figure, in that it looks pretty good but is also a plastic toy through and through.
As a Joe collector, the offcolor blue is a weird problem we have with Hasbro toys, too! The troopers are always being released in weird blue tones, sometimes they're too purple, sometimes they're too green. I don't think it's always intentional. Can't bring that up in forums though or you have to deal with, "I can't tell the difference" "you're nitpicking"
Why the hell are they not doing movable eye balls on this? This is like the perfect opportunity. Hell I recently got a 6 inch figure that has glass eyeballs on it and another bunch that cost less than 50 that have movable eyeballs, and they can't even do it on 24 inch figure that cost 200 dollars?
Great review as always. The funniest part of the review is your minute long disclaimer for the HasBros. Anyone getting agitated over objective (or even subjective) criticism should really evaluate their thinking skills.
The zombie face is my favorite here, just because every other face looks like MAD magazine caricatures. He looks like such a deviant that I'd almost expect him to come with an ankle monitor. These are not the kinds of faces you'd get from How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way; not even close.
The whole of ML is just completely off the How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way. The faces have been weird since the start. It's clearly a design choice. The bodies as well, they don't look like superheroes. Heck they don't really look like men either. They look like cheap toys, but they sell them for way too much.
I got mine yesterday and I agree on most of your points. They could have done a better job. Regarding the botched eyes, it seems to be a universal problem. I already messaged Hasbro Pulse about it and I got a response to contact another customer service department with the case number. Such a complicated process for a problem that they caused in the first place. By this time, they should be aware that this happened to most, if not all customers. Otherwise, the figure is okay. It's a good representation of the character but I agree that they could have done better.
Jada's street fighter figures have more consistent painting, texturing, and matte finish plastic at $25 than this $200 "premium" Haslab LOL. But a lot of reviewers are giving 9.8 or 10/10 for this Giant-Turd.
Is it a good figure? Well, yeah! Does it justify the price? Not at all. It’s a Hasbro common figure in a big size, that’s all. Looks plasticky, big head, small shoulders, basic cosplayer proportions… and everything I’ve learned from Anthony 😂❤
It is a good addition to one's collection, but not at 2 hundred dollars. I prefer the gold & blue giant man. As always, your review is a highlight of the day when checking most figure reviews.
Im heavily considering getting this for…. Under 350 i’m justifying it simply because I don’t own a Giant man, and I think it’d look pretty dope with my collection
Would like to see an Erik Josten Goliath for the Masters of Evil, as well as an updated Bill Foster Goliath. Even if they’re not the same size as this guy I’d still love to see them.
this is all kind of moot, isn't it? if you backed the haslab, you have it now whether it's good or not. if you didn't, your options are pay 2x-3x retail now or never get it.
People buy things second hand all the time. There will also be more products from hasbro. It's never moot if you can give buyers more information about the products they're buying and the companies they're buying from
Good review as usual. Hasbro screwing up not sending a straight set of eyes after having a year to send out this thing is completely unacceptable. My wife thought it just looked like a big doll. I actually prefer the toybiz baf. I like the proportions, face sculpt, and paint apps better on that figure.
I like my giant man I’m enjoying it. I’m upset that they didn’t include the straightforward eyes but overall this should never have been 200 bucks. This should’ve been anywhere between 120 and 150$
I'm glad I didn't support this project. I don't think $200 is worth it. I'm sure I would have "buyers remorse" if I did. I like Giant MAN, but I love my $200 more
I get the feeling the ML people were anxiously waiting for your review, and now are crying and sharing a bottle of whiskey. And great posing at the end 😂
I went in on this, then a few days after I was charged I had to pay to replace three tires on my car and asked for a refund. I don't regret cancelling that order. At all. I do have the Dragonfly coming in and I have a feeling that's going to be much better than this.
I like my Giant Man with a super broad shoulder and wide chest, Right there the fig throws me and was the reason I passed. There is some coolness sure but in this day and age yeah even I can't say much, 5-6 years ago I would have to have it but it's a different time.
I got two pairs of left looking eyes. Had to reach out to customer support as I have no straightforward looking eyes. At this point might wanna give us the skrull head for brownie points
I love youuuuu!! You’re the ONLY reviewer ive seen not kiss hasbros ass!! I have been complaining about their stupid QUALITY! hate that they keep reusing the same bodies! Ugh! Love Ur reviews! Always! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I honestly think this would be worth it if they really fired on all cylinders and made a home run release, and the sad thing is there was some kind of effort made. Unfortunately they Hasbro'd up some things and made it just barely worth the asking price, certainly not worth resale prices imo. I agree with Riad though, I value these reviews since Hasbro feels the need to up the price without justification, I scaled back my purchase of their product to only characters I need or clearance (Last ML I did was a clearance Carnage and sale Danny Ketch Ghost Rider). At least with GI Joe they can justify the price since, while not perfect, they know what they're doing on that team.
I could not justify the price for just being a bigger hasbro marvel legends figure. It's too basic looking. For that price, they could have squeezed in at least a figure or two. I really want to say that they should have added wasp as part of the haslab offering, but I think it's the right call that figures like Wasp is not a haslab exclusive. At least it would still give most people a chance to buy it without forcing them to buy the haslab. Maybe a smaller sized Giantman so we can have that growing action. but I'm happy for those who bought it and are currently enjoying the figure. I think for bigger figure, having the multi articulated hands are good but it could still have benefitted from at least a closed fist. And you're right, for that price, hasbro do not have an excuse to cheap out on the figure. The paint, color, and accessories should all be satisfactory or even more. I just hope that you still enjoy the figure even after that review.
I have to say his head being that large really takes away from the look overall. It's super distracting for me. The lack of a basic wash on the body, and the typical hasbro neglect just make the pricing insulting.
I don't think it looks terrible, but do agree with what Anthony said. I think they should've gone for swap out hand options: fists, flat, grasping etc. Completely swap out heads, with a proper dumbbell joint and one in the base of the neck. Oh and a ball joint in the waist.
I agree with you about the eyes but I do not see the color differences with the head, knees, and shoulders. Hopefully Hasbro sends out new sets of eyes but overall I would have given him an 8/10 because this figure is awesome.
Areas that are more in tension should be spread out and relaxed parts of the suit should be tighter texture pattern, using a weight modifier. I dont know if thats how they sculpted it. It looks like they just dropped a texture on top of it.
They definitely didn't. It's just a texture applied over the polys. I wouldn't expect them to do what you're saying even though it's technically correct. Not for a reasonable price. Every wrinkle would have to have the texture adjusted.
I think this is a figure most people never as for. Galactus… yes! Sentinel… sure. What would be a giant figure people really want to pay $200 for?

Honestly, for a figure this big I'd consider it unacceptable not having fully articulated fingers. This way at least you can have it grabbing cars, tanks, light poles, splatting a person, or whatever you can think of. Otherwise Hasbro would have just given it fists and some kind of relaxed hand that didn't work right with any pose. The other thing it should have been required for me was having movable eyes.
Looking at this, I can agree that it’s good enough if you want Giant Man on your Avengers team, but for $200 it could be so much better. This figure costs about the same as my Mafex Daredevil and Captain America combined and those two are much better figures than this one. They definitely pose way better. The Neca Arkham Knight Batman had a ton of detailed sculpting and decent articulation. He could kick all the way out to the side and was $100 msrp. Outside of it being giant man, I do not see the appeal of this. It’s just a 2ft Marvel Legends with all the problems it usually has except it's more obvious due to the size.
I wouldn't be surprised if you had to dip the entire figure in a hot bathtub just to tighten the Joints 😂 Btw Anthony some early copies of it came without the extra faces
Turned out about as I expected. Just a giant regular ML figure with almost no accessories aside from weird looking faces. Additionally, the fact that its a haslab figure and you have to buy it before you know how good it will be is just insane. Luckily, I don't collect ML for anything but X-men related figures, so I didn't have any issue with skipping this one. not worth $200 for me for sure
A third-party company or someone on Etsy is going to make an eye uupgrade for him. But it shouldn't need an upgrade. I disagree with a lot of what you said, but the eyes are absolutely a sticking point. They're not centered at all! He's looking off to the side!

Yea ,i was never a fan of giant man but that was my first impression seeing reviews it looks like a big marvel legends ,not a dream project at all .
He isn't bad. I just dont have the room for him in my display. I have to hope they do a 10 or 12 inch version of this. For now I have the toybiz one I'm happy with. I see you have him too. I do have human size that came with wasp. Another somewhat disappointing set. Plus I have Galactus who to me would still be better. I don't like the harness. It should be apart of his costume. Not a harness.
His eyes follow you when you’re turning him and for me that’s just creepy. Makes it feel like he’s plotting something against you when he gives you the side eye
They don't really follow you. They just have clear plastic over the painted area. If they were going for that, they wouldn't have given you different sets looking in different directions.
don't you get it? the reason why it's not a premium quality figure is because it will fit the display of mediocre legends figures. Jokes aside, great review.
For a long time now, i gotta say you're being WAY too analytical with "proportions". Im a muscular guy myself, and im very well educated in anatomy, and 90% of the time, people's shoulders are NOT so high above chest level. The superhero body is drawn exaggerated and stylized for dynamic comic book purposes, there's almost no way to have a perfect action figure be functional yet be perfectly human scale. Also, the premium comment, NO ACTION FIGURE company makes perfect premium product, mafex is a perfect example. At the end of th day these are TOYS, not exact replicas of humans. Not defending hasbro here, don't care for that. Just saying, your reviewing style is just becoming too analytical, have fun with the toy man lol. They aren't state of the art medical equipment.
@sirmustardofhousemayonnais9907 I'll say again, THESE ARE TOYS. It aint that serious. Im mainly talking about anatomy, not overall product quality, which NO toy company will ever do at 100%. I collect almost everything, and they all fall short
The zombie face is almost as dumb as the Doom head with Galactus. It's not comic accurate at all. The Skull face would've actually made sense. The eye issue is such an unforced error on their part. Do they have a gremlin somewhere in the production cycle making sure that the final product will always miss the mark?
