What's funny is that Thunderbird wasn't the strong silent type. He was more of the rush in without thinking type. He died so early to show there were high stakes in this new run and since his personality was so similar to wolverine they chose to off him.
I feel you on missing out on that Dark Phoenix 2 pack. Everyone and their mom was swapping the Jean Grey head on Black Widow figures and all I could think was “That looks really good. Too bad I can’t do that.”
It's not that I missed out on that pack, it's that I passed on it about three dozen times at Toys 'R' Us. Really ridiculous because I didn't have the hindsight of thinking about having that 80's Cyclops look...plus the best Phoenix figure made. At least I have the X-Factor Cyclops, and even the Select Cyclops...despite one of the legs instantly snapping off straight out of package.
Too bad they look so similar. I mean I get why it's that way, but it would've been cool to see more of a difference in design. I mean we'll get another X-Force Warpath (so pretty different lookin'), but I'm way more into the classic look.
12:17 - You could pop on one of the 90's tiger stripe Wolverine heads (like the Love Triangle 3-pack version) on the 1st appearance body, and you got an instant 70's Wolverine. I really don't see Hasbro doing that...but Wolverine is highly marketable 🤔. Maybe even another newly masked head on a repainted 1st appearance body.
Dude, after watching ten reviews, this is the best review I've come across. It has some really great comparison shots from other non-Legends and Legends figure that are X-men and non-X-men. Also, love the partial kitbashing between Warpath and Thunderbird. (Would have been nice to see Storm kitbash with mohawk Storm) That's always a HUGE PLUS!! Good job man! I'm also inconsistent as far as collecting goes so it's great to see you go for the nearest alternate figure options to go along Storm and Thunderbird. Keep em' coming like this because that's the kind of videos I'm always looking for! And also your voice is tolerable and not annoying. Haha! I get ear fatigue very quickly so your tone doesn't do that for me.
Not sure if I'll get this set since I'm pretty happy with my Select 1st appearance Storm. Then again if I actually see it on the shelf, I know I'll get it. I still get postpartum depression with basically giving away my Shang-Chi. Those fists would definitely come in handy. Curious to hear what someone like Dwight would say as to why Thunderbird only got gripping hands. And why all the wrist hinges have illogical horizontal hinges. I mean, your wrists always move up and down when holding a gun or knife. If only getting one or the other, vertical hinges are absolutely the way to go.
I'm over not getting fists with the Reaper body. Storm looks badass and easily worth the price of admission, it's a shame about Thunderbird's hands and neck though.
I just ordered this set! I only just recently started collecting Marvel Legends so I was quite pleased (for once!) to find something I missed for less than MSRP! I got it for $39! :D I only bought it for the Storm of course. She will be the first character I own more than one version of. I was inspired to assemble the X-Men team from the 90s arcade game. I have the whole team and, with this Storm, I'm only a blue hooded Cyclops and a brown costume Wolverine away from having them all in the costumes I want.
Great review. Nice detail. I totally agree about Thunderbird's lack of fists or even grabbing hands, though the head sculpt is superb. Storm is immaculate.
I am looking forward to getting that storm. Finally have that Konami Arcade X-Men team complete. I like the Thunderbird head more than the Warpath head. I might switch them out.
Great review! Yeah Thunderbird could have come with a little more. Some fists would have been great. Gripping hands make no sense if they don't include something to grip. A flesh colored neck would really make him stand out since his costume didn't come up that far. As good as Storm looks I wish they would have used the more shapely female mold. The one they used is way to skinny for her. They did do a good job on giving her African-American features though. Certainly gotta grab this set for the GS X-Men team.
I posted this on another reviewers video. This is an awesome Deluxe Storm pack with accessories & even a Fodder Character included. Thunderbird, as you said, was given the short end of the stick in this pack. A figure that has been asked for by fans for a long time. Waiting till price reflects deluxe pack value of $30.
I think the red on the torso is different too. Probably might be that the bottom is molded in red with the blue painted on and the top looks like it's molded in blue with red painted on.
Hey, Wade....Really quick Giant size X-Men Custom Wolverine. If u have The Lovers Triangle 3-Pack Wolverine, u can port the masked head on the First Apearance Wolverine Buck.
If you swap the head on that first appearance wolverine with the love triangle three pack you can get that giant size X-Men look. The yellows match too
Like Storm, just wish the cape was connected to the wrists like in the comics. They did it for the 90's Storm, so I don't know why they didn't do it for the classic version.
I kinda want this, but Mohawk Storm is my Storm. She's a great looking figure, but TBH, if I bought it it would just be to say I got a Target exclusive.
Now that I have this pack in hand(arrived today) I am convinced that other than making his head smaller, he could have gone on the Hyperion body as the head works on that size wise and I am tempted to mod one for him. Guessing the darker red is due to it being a layer too thin.
Not sure if I want this. Looks badass but I think I’m happy enough with my Marvel Legends Retro Storm. And Warpath looks like Thunderbird so I’d feel like I’d be getting the same figure twice lol I’d rather try and get hold of some older Legends like Dreadknight, Constrictor and Klaw off eBay!
If you have the love triangle three pack Wolverine, the normal head that comes with it works pretty good on that 80 years one to give you a close to Giant Size X-men Wolverine.
13:32 - I think it looks pretty good. Has a bit more of the quintessential heroic big guy proportions. But yeah, I still wouldn't go with it over the Warpath head. It's a bit too big, but at least not as big as Cable's (or Jim Lee Rogue's) head.
I mixed my marvel select colossus with my marvel legends colossus and made colossus taller with better feet and forearms because there is no way at 7’5” that colossus would only be a head taller than Storm.... my colossus is a smidge shorter than two pack hulk.... that version of hulk is 7’6” it scales perfect!
Why people get the set and sell thunderbird, I love both of them, but you are right about thunderbird hands, they should've included warpath knives and fists
This is kind of like the 80th anniversary Hulk set in that there's a really cool figure that comes with a lot of accessories, including one accessory of just another figure
@@UnparalleledUniverse I mean, I'm happy to have Thunderbird, because I grew up with Giant Size X-Men, but I agree with your assessment that all the love went into Storm (who is also my favorite female X-Men character)
Honestly... Thunderbird is kinda crap. /: His head is way to big and sits far too high and the open hands are really meh. Sucks that Storm is absolutely fantastic but they didn’t give any love to TB.
I agree with his review, he only appeared on a couple of issues and then he was dead! Why release him when they could have released a proper Jim Lee style Rogue to go with her (instead of the ugly desperate housewive Rogue we got with Pyro), or even an updated Banshee who appeared along with Storm on many of those classic John Byrne/Chris Claremont stories... Also lets see if we even get to find these figurines, since bots bought all of them off of the presale on Target's website (grrr). I don't understand why Hasbro doesn't release enough of the popular Marvel Legends! I think they are making them hard to find so that people pay on purprose more to scalpers making their figures be in demand which is annoying.
@@sakisgr1396 Hasbro has to spread out their A-listers to keep the line going for so long. Thunderbird is an important character to X-Men history - he's part of arguably the most important single comic of the franchise, and his permanent death has proven to be a landmark moment in Marvel lore - so I have no problem with Hasbro making a figure of him. It's just they were so half assed with it is what annoys me.
@@LosMSR :) its not just her modern uniform that I don't care much about though, it is also the two ugly heads they released with this figurine! Her face just looks off! Smirky and aged! her expressions are off...
Thunderbird had skinny arms, the head is too big, the neck is too thin and the heigh is too short. He is also a non esencial character since he died on his first appearance comic. I will definetly pass on him. If some one on ebay happen to sell it for $5 , i will still pass on him.
