Legend has it, everytime Robo tears up a card, he feels a sense of euphoria knowing that somewhere, a mint on card collector is dramatically screaming at the screen. 🤣
The best thing about Robo is that he likes to open all figures in one whole instead of doing separate reviews along with his customizing is great and his play days are perfect, While this 2nd Retro Spiderman wave is cool, I'm still going to get Gamerverse PS5 Miles Morales, Retro Spiderman 2099, Retro Sandman, and Morlun
They need to keep one with wall-crawling hands and web effects and an extra head in circulation. A deluxe spider-man in circulation would print money until the end of time
The rectangles on the hands of black suit spiderman are accurate to the cartoon. It's not most people's preferred look, but at least it is based on something. The good news is that the previous black suit hands fit on this new figure.
I was confused why everyone seems to get upset about it. The package literally looks like the cartoon into. I was under the assumption these figures were all based on the 90's cartoon.
I know everyone's going to gush over the symbiote, but I think that the armored version is absolutely the best figure in this wave. Good luck to everyone getting the ones they want!
I can't pick a favorite. Hammerhead is really well done, Shocker despite some paint issues is still a lot of fun, and I don't care what anyone says I really dig that Hobgoblin. I never found that last version or the older Zemo so it's mostly new parts to me, and it captures the character enough for me to be more than happy with it.
@@SoftEndy he's evocative enough of the comic version, that I don't mind. If we're going to hold ML to comic accuracy, then we might as well bin 75% of them right now.
The armored up Spiderman is the one I’m looking forward to the most. I loved them putting it in the PS4 game but, it will always remind me of the PS1 game. I always tried to keep it as long as possible.
I know that the new Spidey model is going to be used for a very long time, but I think, as Robo mentioned, it only works with some designs. The mold is a little chunky, but the original Spidey and Black suit makes it appear thinner. The Ben Reilly suit looks so odd, with a chunky neck, small head, and chunky torso.
I remember Armored Spider-Man from issue #100 of "Web of....". I think it had one of those holo-foil covers. I'm gonna look for that figure AND that issue now! hahaha
I generally prefer the Sensational Ben Reilly design when the logos match the blue of the suit so that the torso doesn't look like a t-shirt, you know? Unless it has Bagley's proportions of broad shoulders and a good v-shape to the body, the design looks INCREDIBLY boxy at times (much like this figure). Having them be blue allows the logos to bleed into and flow with the suit instead! For some reason, the allure of the Sensational suit is really dependent on the artist at hand, where it either looks like one of the best spidey suits of all time, or it's super awkward lmao I ended up customizing my Mafex Ben with a metallic blue over the logos and rest of the suit, and WOW, it makes such a difference! I really recommend it for any Ben Reilly enthusiast
The web piece with the bend in the middle looks like it’s meant for Hammerhead’s bat specifically, like he knocked it out of Hammerhead’s hand and webbed it down.
Spider-Man is one of the strongest Marvel characters and I've always preferred a physique that exemplifies this. I've never liked him looking like a twig next to Captain America or whoever. While I still love and appreciate different interpretations, bulkier Spider-Man gets taken more seriously in my opinion, and I prefer that.
I totally get that, and maybe that's why I'm gravitating to this new one more than I thought I would. But I still dig the thing, spidery contortionist look too.
All great looking figure. Something about Hammer Head with his Gangster Chic. The blue on the Ben Reilly figure is eye catching and black suit Spidey just looks classic. Can't wait for Robo to review Shocker.
Everyone gets Symbiote but me :( Sandman BAF Black Spider-man: But you still have me! Me: I never loved you! Definitely a solid enough wave to get a solid foundation of Spider-man figures. Add on Sandman and maybe Venom(if you got him).
I just got the armored Spiderman today. I think that figure falls into the realm of a work of art. 99% of figures I buy need to be posed at least minimally to bring them to life on the shelf. I feel like this armored version looks perfectly ready for action in his yearbook pose.
The armored Spidey was the one I looked forward to the least but after owning it, it's become my favorite spiderman figure even with less articulation... In a flight stand for jumping poses, his details in sculpt makes him stand out so much! Now I just wish they would do a future foundation white suit with that kind of detail
Personally I only want the armored Spiderman. I don't want to buy anymore of the figures with pins in them since they are just going to re-release all of them on the updated pinless bodies.
Man, I can't wait for that Armored Spidey! You've talked me into Hammerhead. I'm still skipping the Hobgoblin tho, I don't know how you can get better than the BAF version. It's on of my all time favorites
That armored Spider-Man seems to share some engineering DNA with the armored Daredevil, though if it they DO share some kind of base it's heavily modified, with a lot of those Gamerverse details like what the other Spider-Armor and Miles had. Welcome additions to the shelf!
Got my Armored Spidey this week and I like it way more than I expected. Like you showed in your review, there's allot of details you can't appreciate until you get it in hand. I don't mind that it isn't a classic comic version. It's just going to be part of my Spider-verse display and variations fit right in.
Haven't even started the video yet, but I wanted to say thank you for reviewing these. I was hoping the first wave would get reviewed way back when, because these characters are the basis for my own sandwiches! (My bread and butter, if you will.)
Haha, took me a second, but yeah, I don't think I picked up much of that wave, just the Spidey and I think Gwen. Oh, and Parker for a custom. Looking back, I don't know why I skipped Electro and Goblin. And then I never cared for armored Daredevil. Hmmm...
The cool thing I’ve been noticing is that Tom Hollands spidey is libeling up to be the more classic spidey from the 60’s and that’s why there lining him up for the classic Secret Wars story
It's okay, Robo. I don't hold it against you. Though I'm floored at how perfect the timing was for a brand-new Ben Reilly Spider-Man figure, considering that not only have we got Spider-Man Beyond, but Ben Reilly: Spider-Man #1 just hit comic racks last week. I wish the figure had been given a new head with bigger eyes, though. Gotta do some headswaps, see if there's one I like.
I was so lucky with my symbiote. The pain couldn’t have been more perfect. I decided against the mafex because a lot of people complained about poor paint application and for that price its just not acceptable.
Thank you 🙏🏿 for your review I was on the fence about buying black suit Spider-Man because I had a smaller size one and it was cheap and it had a broken left arm but after seeing your review and articulation of the figure I had to buy it I love how detailed it is and the rectangular back hand white paint is not bad at least they painted it white the one I had didn’t that’s how I knew it was a knockoff
When are we going to get a Tarantula figure?! Am I the only one on the planet that remembers this guy? He was very cool and appeared back in the Jackal and early Punisher appearances of Amazing Spiderman. Uugghh, why do I even bother?
For me it's the white triangle instead of a rectangle on the symbiote. Also i'd rather not have the abdomen articulation if it meant not having that hideous gap that splits the venom logo in two...

Target has been doing that for a while, now. Getting full cases of MOST of a wave. Venompool left out Phage. Eternals left out Sprite and Kingo. Armordillo was hit and miss as One store got Miles here, three others did not. AoA2 was mostly Magneto and Cyclops, a few scattered Rogue and Iceman. Retro F4 was only Reed and Sue. 🙄🤦♂️

I'm not the biggest Spiderman fan but I respect the character and his place in the Marvel universe. You can have a '"complete" Marvel collection without Spidey his supporting characters and rouges. The sad thing is I have HATED the lanky body sculpt for Spidey. I think it's the right body type but it looks cheap, especially from the waste down. I missed out on the 90s retro Spiderman so I hope we get another classic with the new Iron Spidey body. This video did confirm that I need to get Hammerhead and Iron Spider.
Got the armored Spidey aka Spider armor mk1 aka Web Armor. Really impressed with that one even if it os a different mold. Missed the other 2. Then brain farted on who else was in the line. Even though I had a card back picture in my phone. 😅 I did order the other 2 though so hunting the rest. Sucked me back in this did. Hasbro give us a Spot already. You can have have fun with that guy by doing random spit placements on each one.
It seems like a lot of people don't know this but these figures are mainly based off the 1994 cartoon of Spider-Man. You can tell by the logo that logo is only seen on that TV show. This is exactly it with the really cool writing and Spider-Man sitting on the logo. I own a vintage figure from that original line when they first came out and I can say the new ones are definitely a step up from the old figurines. It really sucks that they didn't think to do anything about keeping these figures in the Box especially when considering a lot of figures like Marvel Legends that have small pieces you can keep the pieces in the box with this you really can't cuz you have to destroy the box to get to figure out
Right, because the cardbacks are based on the toyline from around the time of the 90s cartoon. But that armored Spidey is definitely Gamerverse, and Ben didn't appear in this costume in that cartoon, did he?
Yeah, I've never liked how it breaks the sculpt, but it compensates for the slight ankle pivot we can do but not allowed by the hinge. Plus on the manufacturing side it can be swapped out at that point for body reuse with boots. Still......ugly cut, haha.
@Alan Doane An action figure having more flexibility than a human is reasonable but articulation on a human figure that actual humans can’t replicate at all is not very necessary to me. I’m not complaining but it’s just kind of interesting
Interestingly, Pulsecon Venom had the same textured paint for his white spider logo. I wonder if Hasbro's testing out a new process. Great review as always, Robo!
I'm still waiting on Black Suit Spider-Man, I've got all the villains and I'm skipping the other Spider-Men, I simply have no attachment to them and I'm trying to cut down on Marvel Legends anyway. Hammerhead I really like, there's so much personality even though he doesn't pose much, but he doesn't need to, and he's a character I didn't hugely care for but the figure looked too good to pass up. Shocker I like but the paint is pretty weak. On top of no line paint the brown throughout is chipped and/or fuzzy in places that makes it feel cheap, but the figure cuts a great silhouette and I love how they executed the hands. Hobgoblin I get why people are hating on it seeing as it's all reuse and that last figure needed a better head sculpt, but I personally really like it. He's one of my favorite Spider-Man villains and I never found the earlier versions and even though it could be more accurate, as you said about the armored Spider-Man, it just evokes the character's spirit for me. I also don't mind the reused Baron Zemo arms and legs since I don't have that figure, and it helps him stand out against Green Goblin, he doesn't feel exactly the same just with a new head and cape. That and the mix of yellows, oranges and blues really helps him stand out amongst the sea of mostly green Spider-Man foes. The glider does suck though, too small and he can't stand on it without it looking like he's broken his ankles and is about to slide off given how far back he sits. Still, great review as always Robo.
The same i thought about the mold for superior octupus, by the mommento superior octopus hit in my country and looked at it articulation, i knew ot was the SUPERIOR spiderman action figure spidetman mold, Then retro spidey came to the stage🤙
