Just had a 10 year old video of yours show up on my feed. Crazy to think that I've been watching for 11 years now. Just goes to show how well done your reviews are. A higher standard than the rest!
Yikes, people are salty that you liked this, lol. I never viewed your channel as the ML Hate Channel.. I viewed it as the “please get better” channel and so far, they absolutely have. At least with these two figures, right? I *want* my Spidey figures to be “on par” with Jada. They should be especially since they’re from the #1 Toy Company, right? I agree with you that this is a damn good figure and imho should be the Spidey buck going forward (sorry Amazing Fantasy fans.. that buck is too small..) Still need to fix some minor things but I’m suuuuper happy to have this guy in my collection. Fooooor sure.
Two 9.5 ratings in two days for ML's? Oh, this is biblical. Old testament style too. Someone broke the seal of the covenant. 4th wall has been breached. Thanks for the review Anthony. Your videos have a little tinge extra of entertainment to them when you review something that has impressed you.
For me, the problem with windowless packaging isn't that I can't see the figure. Sentinel & Yamaguchi don't have windows but that doesn't bother because I trust the companies QC. I don't have that trust with hasbro.
Yeah, he said that about his last review with Wolverine... I don't know what's going on but I feel like he's going easy on ML lately. Most figures that deserve a 5 he's been giving a 7.
Hasbro sometimes does a decent job but they aren’t consistent.. if only this figure had reflective lenses for his mask or on most spidey figures not all cus I still like the white lenses. But like that one 5 pack with the symbiote Spider-Man I loved that metallic purple they should do a dark metallic dark blue on the next black suit spidey figure … it’s like they basically half ass is and let the customizers do the rest of the work for them
They made a brand new torso and crotch piece gave him the old Spider-Man legs and the old articulation even the top portion of the torso was new and they use the oldest disk hinge for the neck . And if I'm not mistaken the figure was supposed to be $28 instead of 24
This is not on par with Jada, not even close. Disk hinge neck, outdated ab crunch, and waist twist. It can't even do a full split with drop downs, and all SF Jada can do full spilts, even the chunky Shotos. Doesn't even come with a web effect like it shows on the box art it comes with for cryin' out loud.
the chest section is like that because of the backpack tbf, if he didn't have it they probably (although this IS hasbro so...) would've done it different
I feel that with the bbts sponsee he’s been getting these sent to him and although that “shouldn’t change his review” he’s probably going slightly easier on it coz it’s not coming out of his pocket
@@suhtangwong Poor qc, Bad and inconsistant articulation, bad plastic in areas on a lot of the figures (gummy joints). NO paint or barely any on a most of the figures, minimal accessories. Ridicolous proportions on lots of releases (big head syndrome, tiny shoulders, flat chest, duck feet) Multiple price hikes at a time where the quality had stagnated and suddenly took a noticable downturn. Excessive reuse, especially when it is forced and unnatural for the character. The poor distribution of figures exclusive to stores. I'm sure there are ore things but theese pop up in my head first.
I hate that Hasbro seem to have given up on or backslid into using disc hinge necks and ab crunch+ swivel torso articulation now. They screwed up almost every use of ballpeg/double-ball head and never got full range on the upper torso ballpeg and never figured out that a lower one is far superior to their reverse ab crunch. Now their failed experiment "proves" to them that they should have just stuck with their old setup Had they actually learned how to apply those changes the figures SHOULD now be as good as Jada Toys Street Fighter line but now we are back to the fucking open oven chest and no expressiveness with their heads, GREAT (sigh).
So what happened was, Hasbro was losing customers and thus, money to the plastic-free packaging so they brought it back but compensated by lowering the quality of the plastic in their figures. I assume.
"lowering the quality of our products is our core value and we will never yield to achieve our goal of make our customers NOT satisfy. We are so proud!"
Amazon messed up on the price add 24 t a lot of people got it for that. But my point was they did a brand new torso I'm still gave it the ab crunch and torso cut and then I gave us the renew your vows Spider-Man legs all the way down to the feet and on top of that they tried to charge $30
Not bad for marvel legends, but still "newcomers", have much to learn from "old timers" Jada with their new fangled articulation setup, lower prices and great accessories. All for a lower price. Oh and they include stands too. 😀
Between this release and the recent Wolverine, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the upcoming Venom that's set for a September release. He's a walmart exclusive though so I wouldn't blame you if you end up not reviewing him.
No way this is really new, it looks exactly like every other spiderman hasbro has released for at least 5 years. Ugly pregnant chest, low shoulders, neck Hinge, ugly waist break, same leg cuts. But I trust Anthony and I'm sure hasbro will re use the shit out of this after this review
the shoulders are much bigger and much higher if you actually have them lined up side by side in-person, the main problem proportions wise is just the long neck, small chest and the thigh gap
Do you think $30 with no BAF is justifiable for this, or should it be $25, like the Jada figures? I know that's not a huge difference, but I feel like this is Hasbro just trying to nudge that normal price up a little more to get people accustomed to it. It's good to see them making better figures, but after years of their practices, I have a hard time not being cynical.
I think it's reasonable enough when things like the legs are included with a new body sculpt. Still not a good price point for the figure... That's why the rating is "for marvel legends"
@@DevilFudou I'll give you that, Marvel Legends have been making some amazing facesculpts, often better than even high end brands. It's just frustrating the short cuts they take with old body molds, lack of paint, dated articulation, lack of accessories.
If Hasbro were to release a standard red and blue Spider-Man on this mold, it would become my new standard display Spidey. I say that as someone who is still using Pizza Spidey for my main Spider-Man display.
I knew he like the proportions better than most other figures. Shoulders are high and big, narrow waist, v shape, decent leg proportions. I don't even like the story of this character but the figure is pretty good.
I knew this was gonna get a positive review from you for the most part. I mean this may be my number 1 legend this year. I read this series. I only wished they had an unmasked Peter's head with a more sinister look on his face that says it's Otto now in Peter's body. (Though Peter was a bodiless soul waiting to get his body back. Also would have liked a little Spiderbot accessory. His bending back is the downfall. And I am always gonna wonder if the Amazing Fantasy body would have made this figure a full 10.
Been getting back into collecting Marvel Legends and this guy was the first on my list and he's a pretty fun figure so far. Next up is m a g i k that I recently pre-ordered from bbts
9.5 again? A marvel legends? That doesnt even have a double ball peg at even the torso, still using the same garbage articulation from 2014? Listen, if you like this figure its fine. But to act as if its newrly perfect is just straight up wrong.
@@pants989 it's not even a special release like the 20th anniversary line, Hasbro just said yeah let's just charge more cause why not. Disappointed in Anthony
Because the rating has to be in context. Giving every ml a 1 or 2 because better brands exist doesn't help someone who collects ml. It's pretty simple.
Hi Anthony! How do you compare this Superior Spider-Man figure to the Armored Daredevil figure? Sculpt and articulation-wise, this seems to be on par with that figure, but that's just me, though.
Anthony's Customs is definitely the most ANT SHILL Marvel Legends review channel on RU-vid! 🤣🤣 That being said ..I do wish that there were MORE comparisons.. Regardless.. great video brother I'm looking forward to more of your Marvel Legends reviews 👑
The more I look at hasbro’s marvel and Star Wars stuff compared to GI Joe and the soaring prices of Lego Disney stuff, i can’t really fault the quality of these lines on Hasbro anymore, Disney’s cut must be fucking enormous
@@TheMattTrakker Hasbro likely gives Disney a larger cut of profits/pays more for licensing than Diamond does. I don’t know what the deal is for selects figures, but I do know the last time Hasbro renewed their marvel contracts was in February of 2020, before any of the rot had set in, and Disney basically had the power to demand whatever they wanted. Honestly, I think after realising how much Disney screwed up the MCU and how much money it was costing them to both produce the figures and pay for the license they were now contractually obligated to pay for, Hasbro likely cut a lot of the line-wide budget for Marvel Legends so as to not be haemorrhaging as much money. Plus both Marvel and Star Wars have massively declined in popularity. Hasbro’s own flagships are selling better. Transformers ROTB underperformed and left them with a deficit of 90 million dollars, and yet according to one of the quarter reports, the toy sales for that movie alone turned it from a flop to a minor success. I mean for gods sake GI Joe, which costs the same as Marvel legends, costs more to produce due to its higher quality and is far less popular, was, according to Hasbro, in the green last year and actually made a semblance of profit, whereas partner brands like marvel and Star Wars were singled out as being the primary cause of Hasbro’s god awful end of year earnings issues. So either Marvel and Star Wars are just not selling in the slightest, or Disney’s cut of the money is so big that Hasbro’s making next to no profit on either franchise. Tbh I wouldn’t be shocked if it was both
Great review as usual! Hey Anthony! What do you think which are better body mold for spider man? This one? Amazing Fantasy mold? Rew Your Vow mold?🤔 I still like Fantasy mold, But I want this new body mold for the future adult spider man figures!
Its pretty frighin awesome, aesthetically! The only thing I didnt like, was rhat awful ab crunch. The disc hinge un the neck, kinda meh, but okay. I really dig the overall shape of the figure... and the reflecty eye head is pretty damn cool! Sik
I don't know if the planet is worth saving at this point. Besides, I'd rather know that I'm getting a figure and not a TV remote since I'm typically an in-box kind of collector.
Hey i left you a message the other day asking about the Wolverine head scupt with the cigar..hopefully you'll make some more soon Btw as far as Hasbro virtue signalling "CLIMATE CHANGE" B.S...i remember back in the day when they would recommend using more PLASTIC instead of paper products in order to SAVE the TREES.. but now plastic is BAD & we should kill more TREES?! Make it make SENSE!! 🤣🤣
I'm actually interested in their 1/12 Iron Man model kits, damn cheap too considering they're already pre-painted. The only thing that's holding me back though is the subpar articulation, most of the kits they've made so far can't do the iconic flight pose.
it is BETTER than the usual trash but it's not GOOD GOOD, i mean a good spiderman body would be similar to the custom bodies or the mafex, not skinny, not big shoulders, neck, calves, ankles, hands, head and waist muscles ARE TOO BIG and the pecks are weird. i think the marvel legends gaslighting got you too, you're so used to the marvel legends TRASH that when it comes a just decent figure it gets elevated as the second coming of christ. 9\10 it's too much
Mafex spidey is not that great. Skinny ugly legs, very fragile cheap plastic and joints and about 5x the cost of a normal action figure. But to each their own.
@NECROMAGICIAN666 Mafex Spidey is too damn skinny lol. You would know if you actually picked seen any of the Spidey comics drawn by Mark Bagley (which is the version Mafex is based on). As for Superior he should have big shoulders and a small waist that’s how he’s always drawn. Spiderman is never skinny in the comics and especially not the Superior version. You must have knew of this character from YT Shorts or something, Heck even Peter in his prime during the Mcfarlane era was ripped out of his minds, wide back, wide shoulders, Large Legs, and crazy veins, Spider-MAN should be a good size he’s not a scrawny teenager the guy is in his mid 20s, an ADULT. don’t even get me started on his early Romita Sr days, the guy was built like a football jock.
LOL the first time superior spiderman appeared he was extremely skinny, and when this suit appeares he is drawn as skinny, but first let me specify that assbro isn't mcfarlane and so far they never took the art style in consideration, so logically this whole point makes no sense, i am saying that the mafex is better when it comes to shapes, and to be frank he is not that skinny as you claim it to be, plus the mafex one should be based on the mcfarlane since his drawing is featured on the pack and this one should be based on the mark bagley cover art from the run made by, slott, del gado, bell and bagley it doesn't feature the problems i pointed out, and fully adult doesn't mean jocky, as far as i can tell spiderman isn't drawn to be big since the 80's he was just ripped in the 90's because of the crazyness of the art style and i'll give you a point for the critique on the mafex, he should have been more crazy indeed if you feature the mcfarlane one on the box.
@@22B112 aside from that i still personally think that the mafex looks overall better than this one, this one features the classic marvel legends proportions problems big hands, big head, big feet, big claves, fat ankles, no wrists, weird torso muscles, no butt and skinny chest besides being 0% fat type shredded the mafex is pretty much great, not perfect but great the flaws on that figure are the belt design, the limited crunch joint, the big head, the peter parker head being weird, and his fragility. but imagine this, that mold but more modernized and with a 20 dollar price point and with those problems fiexed, it would be the best selling legends of all times EASILY (of course without import joints) but with double ball pegs it would be ground breaking(for legends collectors remained in the stone age) and it would actually be a competitive product, because as far as i can tell in the lousiest sonic 3 jakks can kick a marvel legends ass in terms of articulations, painting, sculpt value and accuracy.
@@suhtangwong i was talking about the sculpt, it is the best 1:12 comic spiderman figure on the market and nobody would tell you otherwise, I can agree with you on the fact that is not perfect and it needs more work but are we really comparing the two products? i'm just comparing the shape and sculpt because it doesn't cost more to sculpt it better and the legends is again, NOT THAT GOOD it presents way more problems than the mafex.
If hasbro wanna campaign on saving the planet..cutting clear plastic for display on packaging for a plastic toy seems like a dumb idea..or a weird marketing ploy. 😅 If they are really serious about saving the planet, do recyclable campaign, accepting old/broken toys (their brand and/or others). It will be non-profitable but at least better marketing. 😂
I read every single issue in the Spock run including tie-ins and trash events 97% of the time he is drawn with a regular web pattern depending on the artist one or two webs collide but not near as messy as this pice of crap, you probably saw a couple of covers and assume that's how the design is supposed to look like
@chaisrocha9853 As we all know, Hasbro doesn't do their research when making figures. They just Google Image Search these characters. And this design is accurate to some art
@@chaisrocha9853 there are hundreds of panels that shows him in actions with messy webs it’s literally in the comics not part of the covers, he had messy webs it’s part of the design, both Bagley and Humbertos draw him with messy webs.
