Marvel Masterpieces 1992 Trading Cards Hobby Box Break

It's a great set, I really like it when sets are done by one Artist. Just makes it feel a bit more coherent than sets where the art style is all over the place. But I prefer the Greg and Tim Hildebrandt Masterpieces.

@@randomcollector2353 do you know anything about marvel motion lenticular cards? I found some but can't find anything out about them? Was wondering if you can help?

Thanks, I appreciate your comment. I don't think I missed a chase card, otherwise I would have found it while sorting them. Maybe I just missed a base card, sometimes that happens.

Check ebay, I think the single chase cards are still rather cheap, considering what these boxes go for.

No, I didn't have any problems with the '92 Masterpieces. I've heard that they may be sticky, but they are less glossy than the later sets. Mine weren't sticky at all.

That's hard to say, these boxes have shot up in price recently, but I don't know how much a signature would increase it's value. If I would have the chance to get something signed by Joe Jusko I would go for a comic book or maybe an artprint. I think the price growth is mainly due to the fact that people want to relive their childhood and open the box. On the other hand it would certainly be a rare item.

In my opinion this Masterpiece set is the most iconic. It's not my favourite, but it set the standard for painted comic card sets!

@@HuyDao There is no 1990 Masterpieces set, as far as I know. Maybe you're confusing them with the 1990 Marvel Universe set. This set was the first Marvel Masterpieces set and it came out in '92. The Marvel Universe sets are also very nice, but they didn't have painted art. They had more traditional comic art, that's why I would consider this set to be the most iconic.

Yeah, back then you had 36 packs in most boxes. Not like the 12-16 packs nowadays.

If you think you can get some 10's, but anything that's below a 10 won't be worth grading. There are just too many of these out there.

I don't know, usually I don't keep track of things I already have. You could check ebay.com, that's always a good reference.

Hi, I'm not familiar with DC trading cards, but in general I don't think there are fake 90's comic trading cards around. They are not worth enough to warrant faking them. I only know of fake Magic and Pokemon cards and even then they are single cards. I've never heard of a fake sealed box.

@@kYA00h I don't think there are fake AD&D boxes out there. They are also not expensive enough to fake them!

I buy the old boxes on ebay from which ever seller has the best price. For this box I paid 80$, but they have become more expensive since I bought it.

Most of the things I collect come from the U.S. and I don't think there's much of an audience for these box breaks in Germany.
