I know Alex Ross is (for good reason) more well known and regarded for his cover work, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him do more interior art for comics like when he did Kingdom Come and Marvels, especially in this style.

I recommend checking out the series of large graphic novels ( I think they're called something like tabloid comics) he did with Paul Dini to celebrate 60 years of DCs biggest characters. I have a few of them and each one is beautiful!

The problem when you're such a marketable and recognized artist with such a time consuming technique is that doing a full comics is not always worth your while, he did do an uncle sam comics for DC that is pretty neat if you want to check it out.

Check out DCs Justice book, it's fully painted by Ross over excellent Doug Braithwaite pencils. I recommend the original 3 volume set since they have the least gutter loss so it's easier to see everything

@@gregcourtney751The thing is, what makes Mr. Fantastic Mr. Fantastic is more, or at least as much his brain as his powers, if you Gave Reed "Thing" powers he would basically be the same character with different abilities, Ben's character and pathos are directly tied to his powers, If Ben had elasticity powers his whole character changes. That's kind of how I read Ethan, he wouldn't care if he was the Thing, that's all upside, if he was the Thing he would still essentially be a rad new flavor of Mr. Fantastic.

Ethan says smart stuff, and you realize right away that you learned something. Tiffany says smart stuff, and you realize hours to months later that you learned something. Say has the ability to find interesting people, and is the glue that keeps them around. Ben is effortlessly funny, always ready to joke and pun. Wednesday's Back Issues is always a highlight of the week.

Really enjoyed this episode Tiffany’s affection for the art was lovely. I was worried that because of the RU-vid rules change that Sal wouldn’t swear anymore an I don’t know why but I really like it when he does so so happy to see him cut loose at the end 👍🏻

I honestly have been an FF fan since I was a child, and this story exemplifies the sincerity and warmth that always made me a fan of the FF and why I have loved this family. The series is a combination of adventure, exploration and mystery through the lens of some very flawed, but loving people that do their best to try to create connections and be better, fix wrongs and ultimately create a better future. Their compassion towards Ricardo Jones and the family's warmth and good nature is why they are my favourite comic book series from Marvel. Also I find it funny that Janus faked his death initially, reappears in Heroes Return then "dies" working for Gideon Trust and ends up in the Negative Zone again. Also I will always refer to Annihilus' Cosmic Control Rod as his "Little Keg,". Also the Lion Guy actually looks like the species that actually crashed landed into the Negative Zone and brought forth a bunch of species that Annihilus and others sprung forth and evolved from. Actually the Life Canisters that they had Annihilus used to create his Cosmic Control Rod.

The format feeds into the nostalgia for European comic book readers of a certain age. For a very long time reprint 'annuals' were the only non disposal comic strips we had access too, and our main source of American comics. Kirby featured a lot because of the quality of the art (and probably a European sensibility) France,Spain,Italy,the UK and Germany are all very proud of their great illustrators and picture books still had highbrow snobbery attached so it takes a Kirby to hold their own against them. Much like Ross did in his own era. I really really want this book.

Any book where Alex Ross is interiors is worth getting, but I don’t think there’s any artist who’s captured that “Jack Kirby” feel as good as Alex Ross does. I think this is some of his best work, really fitting for the Fantastic Four, and really demonstrates he is the air parent to that “King” title.

Okay I recognize that I am super nerdy for this, but the Fantastic Four are insanely OP in general, and are limited by most writers not understanding the previously established extents of their powers. Mr. Fantastic is virtually indestructible, and if he is wearing a suit that protects him from energy blasts/fire, he is an invincible shapeshifting genius. Sue is at least in the modern era a little more respected in regards to her powers and abilities. She is capable of creating nearly indestructable forcefields in any shape or size, and she is also a genius biochemist with four doctorates, so shes creative af. Also, she can turn herself and any object around her invisible, meaning she can blind people with a thought or manipulate them by filling her surroundings with traps. Johnny is obviously capable of burning even godlike beings, with a radius that continues to grow with every story. Ben is insanely strong and durable, he is pretty commonly understood to be pretty OP.

It's forgotten sometimes that Ben is also really freaking smart. He has a more simple lifestyle and mentality, sure but he's no dummy. He had training to become an astronaut, which requires a couple of PHDs, a knowledge of astrophysics, and also the piloting skills. It just so happens that Reed is working on a whole other level, and ben requires a catchup.

Quick correction to 20:56, the “children setting themselves on fire because of Johnny” story is actually a myth 😅, the true story is just that Marvel had made a deal to get Human Torch his own movie, so Hanna-Barbera weren’t allowed to use him, yk your typical company rights stuff. Yeah the Johnny Storm light yourself of fire thing is an urban legend. Human torch was wrapped up in movie rights so they got kirby to design a cute robot because he worked there at the time. There is a john byrne story about something like that though.

This book came about because Alex heard they were going to bring back the Fantastic Four. They gave it to Dan Slott. The color scheme came from black light posters and 2017 Nick Fury Deep Cover Capers. Mr Fantastic was actor Gary Conway from Land of the Giants.

Human Torch was replaced because Universal studios had the rights to make a Human Torch TV series at the time among other Marvel characters such as Incredible Hulk (which resulted in a hit series)Dr. Strange & Captain America (which only resulted in TV pilots) Submariner (which resulted in Man from Atlantis) Ms Marvel which like Torch nothing came of it and Howard the Duck which well...

Marvel had licensed the rights to the Human Torch to Universal Studios at the time of the Fantastic Four cartoon series and wasn't able to use the Torch in the new cartoon!!!!!!!

I know that Maker is meant to be the Evil Reed Richards but can we talk about the fact that Reed at times verges on being more Machiavellian than Beast in X-men. Like yea they have totally made Beast evil but yet Reed does some really messed up stuff for ends justifying the means.

your not the only one that says reed in the 616 is still messed up, even-though things like the council of reeds, the maker and the ending of secret wars 2015 would say otherwise, but sure reed may sometimes have that attitude. i think it's more of the problem that the writers always have to have the status quo, so reed will always have to relearn the same lessons of family is more important than saving the world: with underhanded tactics. the flaw of reed isn't that he cares too little, it's that he cares too much about the world; being the world smartest man, he has to think about the problems of the world. and i mean as any character in the marvel universe, they aren't all like dc characters: where they are 100% of the time heroic. besides batman i guess, because of the whole "he punches poor people". for me how i think of reed's character is like spock from star trek.

@@johnthai6188 I get that which is why I like him as a character it’s just sometimes especially in stories like this he kinda comes off as I don’t care about anyone but the goal. Again totally understand because he is always more of a big picture kinda person.
