♫ *Loki's song lyrics* ♫ I stormsvarte fjell, jeg vandrer alene _In storm-black mountains, I wander alone_ Over isbreen tar jeg meg frem _Over the glacier I make my way_ I eplehagen står møyen den vene _In the apple orchard stands the maiden fair_ Og synger "når kommer du hjem?" _and sings, "When will you come home?"_ (I opted to cut in only the soft part of this song to fit the mood of the video)

@@thetowerfantasymusic I don't know bro, natalie portman as thor... sad wasted opportunity to show a more visceral side of the norse gods, maybe a hidden faction more aligned with the worship of Odin and Thor, more gritty, they're just gonna make it more "girl power" instead, in the most cliched of ways

Wish there was more of a Norse elements to the MCU, it’s just kinda lacking in everything but Ragnarok and Loki, everything before then it was almost non existent

Well I guess most people miss one of Marvel’s main points in interpreting the myths: Is is true that Sturleson actually described them as - or could be interpreted as - aliens. This matches our times quite well (i mean science fiction, aliens etc); Then, they used the argument as if the original myths were a misunderstanding which gave them - I have to admit - a lot of creative freedom. They made the brotherhood thing (though it plays a small role in the original (loki and odin are bloodbrothers for unknown reasons) a very big thing in the Marvel movies, to a point where it was more a Cain vs Abel thing. With Thor Raganarok they went back closer to the original; still using the artistic element of misunderstanding (ie Hela is not Loki’s daughter, but Odins and gave her the main antagonist role & blaming all on Odin - which actually moved him closer to the original Odin...) I don’t like this soap opera hollywood thing, but hey; they gave their best and made an original interpretation in which the original elements can still be recognized; though in defense: the original stories aren’t so coherent as they say either and give room to reinterpretation Edit: I think if one wants a “better” interpretation of the Norse myths, I think Lord of the Rings did a good job (aka Morgoth is like Loki etc)

The first Thor movie is the most Norse-like they have ever been. That scene in Jotunheim alone is like someething out of the Eddas. Plus we actually get to see the mentions of the Eddas. Ragnajoke and Sylvie Show Co-Starring Emasculated Loki are an absolute nonsense garbage and are an insult to the comics and by default to the myths.

>still using the artistic element You keep excusing terrible writing, bad directing and complete disregard for the source material as artistic elements. Don't do that. >(ie Hela is not Loki’s daughter Yeah, awful idea. Completely ruins both her character and Loki's character. >but Odins and gave her the main antagonist role Which she is not. Loki is. Loki is the one who will lead legions of the dead to bring on the Ragnarok. Hela is merely a tool that gives Loki his army and a ship to sail onto Vigrid Battlefield. >blaming all on Odin Hel in the myths did not blame anyone on anything. She was a neutral figure of neither good or bad allegiance and her role was to watch over her own realm. That thing in Ragnajoke bares nothing of the original character but the name. >which actually moved him closer to the original Odin... No, it did not, because original Odin knew Ragnarok would happen and he tried to prevent, but when it has passed, he said F it and rode on Sleipnir to meet his fate and die a warrior's death. Like all gods did. >I don’t like this soap opera hollywood thing Well, you clearly do if you defend such an awful movie as Thor Ragnajoke. >but hey; they gave their best If you think Thor Ragnajoke was THE BEST they (the so-called filmmakers) could give us, then you have no standards at all. It's like seeing in 1997 Batman and Robin and thinking it was the best the filmmakers could give us. >made an original interpretation in which the original elements can still be recognized; The only recognizable elements in Ragnajoke from the original interpretation are the names of the characters. And even then they manage to pronounce them incorrectly. >though in defense: the original stories aren’t so coherent as they say either and give room to reinterpretation Seriously, did Taika Waititi pay you money to write this comment and defend his bad movie? Because holly Audumbla, are you desperate to excuse all the garbage in this movie. Okay, let's go through this: the contradictions between the two Eddas is when you take two accounts of the same story that contradict each other and then stitch them together to make a coherent one. Such as what Neil Gaiman did when he in his book on Norse Mythology said it was Loki who tricked Thalfie into breaking the bone of Thor's goat. Completely changing the tone, the story, the characters and... well, everything but the names of some the characters isn't an excuse for reinterpretation. >Edit: I think if one wants a “better” interpretation of the Norse myths, I think Lord of the Rings did a good job (aka Morgoth is like Loki etc) Nah, the better interpretation of the Norse Myths already exists. It's MARVEL COMICS. In Marvel Comics Ragnarok is actually Ragnarok, with Loki as the main villain, Thor fighting The Midgard Serpent, Odin riding into battle with an army of warriors, etc. Not this MCU joke.

@charlesbourgoigne2130, the MCU are the ones missing. Because if they were actually keen on adapting the comics, and by default the Nordic myths, there would be no need for their apologists (you) to write completely bizzare YT comments trying to make sense out of their sense. >Is is true that Sturleson actually described them as - or could be interpreted as - aliens. Nay, 'tis not true. Snorri Sturluson described them as gods. To people of those times aliens were never a concept. Aliens became a concept only with the advances in cosmology. Cosmology did not exist at the times when Norse Gods were still worshipped. >This matches our times quite well (i mean science fiction, aliens etc); Like I said, gods are abstractions and are not bound to science. They were never aliens because the concept of aliens did not exist to the people of those times.

This music piece sent me on a journey exploring norse myths and how Marvel interpreted it... i am still at awe Many originalists criticize Marvel how they use Norse myths. I think it is quite an interesting artistic interpretation
