Today, I'm doing something VERY different in an attempt to continue coverage of the new X-Men: From The Ashes thing that Marvel Comics is doing right now: We are going through the first issue of the PHOENIX series, centered around Jean Grey! I’ve been a Jean Grey fan since her X-Factor days in the 80s and I gotta say…I loved this issue. She was straight up doing superheroics and being awesome. Sending her to adventure in outer space was a brilliant idea.

Yeah but everyone is saying that jean is the force , and that isn’t true , jean is the avatar of the force , she isn’t the Phoenix force, just Phoenix , and with the force she can do all these moves , on her own she can’t

@@Phoenix2024-k1gcan yall just, stop with this? this comic and the others before it have literally stated over and over again no matter how hard jean tries the phoenix is apart of her, she's the phoenix and the phoenix is her. she's literally the person that REBIRTHED the phoenix itself. it calls her mother-me. a main editor in marvel said her and the phoenix are one. and so so so many other statements have been shared these past few years. just let it die. the phoenix was always meant for jean and jean only lol.

Jean is not becoming a God but becoming one with a Cosmic Entity. Marvel database say the Phoenix is a primal force and a Cosmic Entity.

While Thor may be a god, Phoenix is way above him in hierarchy and power level. Comparing him to her is like comparing Hawkeye to Thor. She was a human who had godlike powers and is now an actual god. This story seems to be about her shedding her human constraints or doing a better job at marrying them in her current status.

@@-.Outlaw.-LOLOLOL. Thor is waaaaay below the actual Phoenix Force and we know this because it's already been canonically stated that Jean as White Phoenix of the Crown is only surpassed by TOAA. Thor never faced WPOTC Jean and he should be thankful. The Odin Force (what a joke) isn't even something historical. It's just a writer's recent idea. Ever heard of the Tiger Force? Yeah, it's literally like that. The Phoenix is the embodiment of life itself. It can make and take life from the past, present and future and from any and all universes. Your so-called Odin Force gimmick came waaaaay, waaaaay later in the creation of universes while the Phoenix Force was there at the dawn of time. You're delusional if you think Thor is even close to Jean/Phoenix in the hierarchy. Odin Force, hahahahaha! The writer couldn't even come up with a better and more original sounding name for his gimmick.

The problem is they give the Phoenix all these Powers but when she comes up against somebody who is significantly weaker like Thor or the Scarlet Witch they take those Powers away. If they left Jean as the Phoenix and left her as a powerful as she is at the Phoenix the Scarlet Witch Anthony's combined would be absolutely nothing compared to her

Thank god this comics is as awesome as it is. I was a little worried after x-men #1 which imo was fairly underwhelming, though im more optimistic than most. But my worries were unfounded cause i absolutely love this!

Pacing could have been better. The beginning part didn’t exactly grab me. But her dancing with the black hole was sooo on brand for her. 💚❤️ also, Scott feeling her telepathic “embrace” was heartwarming

Love Jean Grey. Unsure about her current incarnation so far. In the mini-comic she & Scott are supposed to see the Northern Lights, he wants to stay and relax while she's giddy with cosmic power and wants to do more. Scott kinda freaks out & it's interesting that in that comic & this issue that even a reference to him briefly hosting the Phoenix force after the remaining Phoenix Five members lost their portion of it -that reference never happens. Weird

what i wish they include in this series is pheonix's energy vampire like ability. she literally devours stars for energy. i want to see her sap someone like galactus of his energy as a snack or any number of bad super powerful beings out there.

I'm ambivalent about it. I personally like Jean not as the Phoenix. It makes her roll in the X-Men obsolete because she's omnipotent, she just closed a black hole. She becomes the X-Men's Captain marvel and I don't want her going through space. But with great power comes great responsibility and I guess she can't just sit at home baking bread with all of this power. I hope they do her right but typically when she becomes the Phoenix she either dies goes crazy or both. I did love this first issue but I'm afraid we won't see her in the X-Men anymore and that makes me sad because I wanted her to replace Charles Xavier. Who is so morally bankrupt the writing of the last 10 years has actually made me despise the character from sending secret teams to die to messing with jJeans head.

I am always shocked at people who don't want to see a character growth. That was an amazing issue for Jean, grabbed my attention right from the start and held my breath to the end. Jean deserver that, and even though I am not that huge fan of Jean myself, I like tons more Storm, I am gonna say it. This is really good for her and I can't wait to see where this will go.

Jean Grey is far more compelling as the phoenix than just another x men, she’d be way more interesting on a team separate from the x men as their power house, then just be another telepath/mutant.

@@Phoenix2024-k1g The actual comics wrote ad nauseam that she IS the Phoenix, not its "avatar". If it bothers you that Jean is as strong, cope. The Phoenix Force was written, conceptualized, and created for, Jean Grey specifically. It would not exist in the Marvel Universe, without Jean. In fact, it was originally meant to be her all along, editorial forced writers to separate Jean from the Phoenix, because they didn't want her to be stronger than Thor. Now they're finally correcting that mistake.

i'm done with x-men. i'm over the phoenix, and they've gone straight back to square one after the fall of krakoa. i'll never read another x-men comic; i'll just watch vids like this. marvel will never get another penny from me.
