If you ask me, Doom's MSH theme presents him as an incredibly powerful foe who will be hard to defeat. Since he's no longer a boss in MvC3, his theme had to be tweaked. His new theme is more reflective of his personality than his power: He's a tragic, but mad genius with a grand vision. Blending these two themes together was a great idea, because it's like putting together two halves to make a whole.

I know, but I am just unsure if a director would want to implement him as an Avengers villain. Would Doom actually try to take on the Avengers? If he would, then would a director have the talent to make that kind of story work?

Instant long range while jump/dropping begs to differ. It's one of the attacks other than foot dive that can be used to get closer since it can be used to advance in the air.
