This game not only brought the best visuals, the best music, the best announcer and the best sound effects, but also brought the best of Capcom characters. The previous games always lacked great characters on the Capcom side, since, they were only from Street Fighter, but on this game they added the best: The magnificent, all mighty Strider Hiryu, Mega Man, Jin, Captain Commando and the best Ryu ever. They leveled the field of cool character with Marvel on this one... Always wanted to say that.
I believe KOF94 was the first, modern fighting game cross-over. It all started when SNK decided to add Ryo Sakazaki to FFS as the secret final boss. While Capcom kept seeing SNK and several others copying them, they added Akuma/Gouki to X-Men: Children of the Atom. The idea of adding Ryo to FFS made SNK add their characters from Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Psycho Soldier and Ikari Warriors to KOF94, which caused Capcom to later release X-Men VS. Street Fighter.
The Black Mages, headed by Nobuo Uematsu. They mostly cover Uematsu's old game compositions as well as a few original compositions. This one in particular is a remix of Final Fantasy 6's (3 US) boss battle music.
amazing video!! I always do this combo: using Megaman and Roll, doing the special which you can handle both of them, then the special of the flying duck robot with both, then hit (a lot) while the double special is activated...
This video was AWESOME. The Chun Li and Carnage segments were my favorites. I was suprised you could even do a combo with a character as pointless as Roll though, little as it was.
hey awesome combos I just started playing this game again on ggpo I suck but thanks for the video , I'm going to learn a few of them. What song was that in your background? what ever it was sounded really awesome.
@Lechku the name of this song is "Decisive Battle" from Final Fantasy VI, performed by "Black Mages" if you're fan of Final Fantasy Games (or not), you will love this band
I remember getting this game for Dreamcast WAY back then because my brother told me it had Sonic in it. But I guess what he meant was Megaman (confuse a robot with a Hedgehog, I dunno). I feel like I'm getting these fighting games just because it has a character I personally like... Like Viewtiful Joe in TvC :)
@Sapler Ok, good call, although I still frown upon it being on by default. And doesn't it blow when the opponent can juggle you for (nearly) their entire life bar?
Ryu's transformations are activated using the 3 punch attacks in unison with a backwards half circle. (FORWARD, DIAGNOL DOWN FORWARD, DOWN, DIAGNOL DOWN BACK, BACK then the corresponding punch button you wish to use to make your transformation. MID PUNCH = Ken, HIGH PUNCH = Akuma, LOW PUCH = Ryu)
The only glitch is during the chun li segment where she is kicking the opponent so far up that the attack graphics scroll up from the bottom of the screen.
Ok, that was amazing... Four things: When someone hits the ground you crouch and use heavy kick to continue the combo, right? Was the combo with Gambit was just light punch and light kick over and over again? What was the combo during Strider's Ouroboros? And God-knows, how did mega-man's charge shot last so long? If you can answer these, I will be very happy.
You forgot to mention that you only went to the arcade on special field trips with your peers from the short yellow bus you ride to & from school Mon-Fri.
I think I got spiderman's combo to hyper move down. After jump then punch, punch, kick or something like that and then he goes on the side for the max spider. I'm having some trouble with Morrigan though. I got to figure out how to like levitate in the air and time that air hyper right. But anyways, this game is sure a keeper. Even years from now, this game will still be played, kind of like the great fighters Street Fighther, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur imo.
@chemogang First song is "The Decisive Battle (Final Fantasy VI)", by artists "Tsuyoshi Sekito & Kenichiro Fukui" album name "The Black Mages" hope that helps ^^
Awesome but I have one question since I never got into this game at this depth. How come It takes 99 hit combos to knock someone out instead of lets say street fighter which is a lot less? The damage gauge goes by so slowing. Is it because they are using the same move and it gets weaker?
cool combos and all but are some of these combos especialy the ones with chunli and red venom even possible? not saying i doubt your skills or anything but just curious
aside from final fantasy 7 and 8...this is my all time favorite game...i'll never get tired of playin this..too bad i played my ps2 to death(not my death but my ps2 doesn't work anymore from playing this and final fantasy 7 nd 8 too much lol)
My best friend at the time had a ps1 copy let his cousin borrow got it back cracked... never forgave him for that. Owning it for the PS1 is awesome but owning an arcade machine with it is even better. Right next to it I would have a second arcade machine with Metal Slug!
