Marvel vs Capcom Infinite - Disney Destroyed This Series! 

The reason why the models, at least for the CAPCOM characters look so janky is because reportedly they reused the models from UMVC3 and converted them into Unreal 4 and that’s why things like the hair and Chun-Li’s face look so weirdly rendered.

It was frustrating at the time, most fans thought the x-men weren't there because FOX stopped it. They really didn't know X-Men were only film IP rights and had them since the 90's. Then again it was Disney's strategy at the time to try and destroy the X-Men and drive sentiment against FOX for daring to own film rights (A sale which actually saved Marvel comics from going bankrupt in the 90's), even in Marvel comics they had an event killing many of them off. Petty short-sighted greed at its finest.

Disney didn't even intend on keeping Infinite alive because they only saw it as promotional material for Infinity War. You could see how much Disney cared when you look at the collector's edition of the game. Besides the game received almost NO marketing. Disney thought that the game could be left unpatched because video game support costs money and they won't spare that. They also didn't want to add Xmen and Fantastic Four because Fox owned the film rights to the characters (Fox buying the rights prevented Marvel Comics from going bankrupt).

I love how he said people don't remember the x men when a few weeks ago people were hyped to see Hugh Jackman come back as wolverine 😂😂.

Disney just doesn't know how to operate in the video game landscape. They see it's profitable and know they have IPs that could prosper if done well but they consistently screw it up. Honestly they need need a Kevin Feige for video games to save them at this point.

As someone in the crowd watching UMvC3 at EVO today, the number one thought that ran through my mind was, "Look at this, Disney. LOOK AT ALL THIS. THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE FUCKING UP WITH. This is what you're missing out on."

One of the biggest problems with Marvel vs Capcom: infinite was the disrespect they did to the Capcom characters

Let's not forget about the physical "Infinite Easter Eggs" that came with the collectors edition of MvC: Infinite! Since Disney is short on money currently, I think it's a good time for them to call Capcom, apologize profusely, and come up with a Marvel Fighting Collection (with Alien vs Predator, even if it's Dark Horse Comics) to "test to see" if there's fan interest in MvC 4.

Removing all X-Men characters is the worst thing they did. I remember on the launch date the game is already dead on arrival. Though I still bought the game that time because I love the fact that they added X and Zero on the same game which are my favorites.

The DLC having more Marvel characters than Capcom ones bugged me too, on top of all the other issues. Really felt like the Capcom crew were playing second fiddle so as to promote the MCU more.

Disney infinity actually wasn’t a financial failure. Disney just actually wanted money that was equal to other games at the time such as call of duty and fifa.

As much as I gripe about this game I can at least appreciate the Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes characters reprising their roles one last time…

I probably would’ve been more lenient about the lack of X-men characters and Fantastic Four antagonists if they at least leaned more into the lesser known Avengers members and foes, or even more of the cosmic/space characters. But, nope. We essentially just got MCU vs Capcom… 😔

Thank the gaming gods that MvC2 is perfection and we can always enjoy it.

The one thing I hated about Disney was that it was trying to make everything about the infinity stones and everything had to follow like marvel vs capcom infinite and ultimate alliance 3 where they just felt like cash grabs because of mainstream movies. And the moment Marvel's avengers, Guardians and even Midnight suns came out they were treated as garbage because they were not based off of the infinity stones.

Sadly once again The Captain Marvel character in this game is hot doodoo. They could have given us Black Panther or Venom for free and made Captain Marvel a DLC. I mean Gamorra/Chu Li or Black Widow are a better lead female characters in this game

Disney kills MVC Infinite into nonsense colorless death. Too much lacking around, japanese voice addition didn't have it. I blame it Disney and Marvel the game become into junk, and their greed!

With MvC Arcade Collection announced hopefully both Marvel and Capcom have realised their mistakes and wish to go back to basics.

What really annoyed me of MvC Infinite was ignorant people calling Sigma a rip off of Buzz Lightyear. Not knowing that Mega Man X came first. So Buzz is the ripoff, not Sigma.

I always played with Tron Bonne on my team because as a kid I loved Megaman Legends. Not only did they drop her for the game, they dropped all the X-Men characters. I'm very glad I didn't buy this game.

MVC was born out of desperation. Marvel was on the verge of bankruptcy and Capcom was considering shutting down the arcade division during the inception of the series. They were mostly asset reuses anyway, so they were quick and cheap to make with little in the way of corporate mandates. The series was not designed for the modern day with massive budgets and layers upon layers of beuracracy that slows everything to a crawl.

Good *grief* ; that spokesperson fails to realize that Magneto isn’t popular because he can do triple-jumps; Eric Lenscher is popular because he is a tragic-hero who gives voice to the righteous-anger of minorities oppressed by racism, and is willing to do *anything* to protect those whom he loves.

Combofiend was in a no-win scenario, here. The equation for me was the same as everyone else: distasteful product placement + ugly graphics + no X-Men + reduced roster + reduced gameplay + better competition (Dragon Ball Fighterz) = NO BUY

Personally, Marvel vs Capcom 2 is The Greatest Fighting Game Of All Time.

The Jamaican restaurant skit of fighting games. The music is bad, the aesthetics are bad, the roster is bad (well "bad", at least it's fairly balanced for what the game is)...but the gameplay and the netcode are OD. All this game needed was another season of characters and just one move rebalance and it'd be GOAT'd.

This game was so doomed from the start, coming from the Villain Arc era of Capcom and the always diabolical Disney company that stripped the series out of everything that made it legendary, the gameplay, that sometimes is broken, but that's just a feature, fan favorite characters, the dull (and janky) visual style and the exaggerated "cinematic" soundtrack that sounds generic af instead of Capcom's signature funk and electronic music.

Once I found out that there were no Xmen in MVC:Infinite, I decided I wasn't interested.

I have just got back from Disneyland Paris. They are actually really good with some Marvel stuff there - for example the characters you can meet and see in the hotel, which is really cool. But there is zero reference to X-Men or F4 even in the shops. I imagine that will change soon but weird that to them, the MCU is Marvel.

I thought also they wanted to simplify gameplay to which I didn't find any problems, but why introduce the Super Hop,Press down up for a super jump then quickly press down,do that sequence quickly and TRY to do the other motions that follow to keep up your combo, frustrating.

Don’t forget the worlds worst collectors edition with Easter eggs instead of infinity stones. It did say final product may change but it was nothing like what they were advertising.

I played MvC2 religiously for years. If I hadn't lost my disk I would probably still be playing it. 3 and Infinite, on the other hand, I played for a month total between the 2 and they've been collecting dust ever since.

I grew up with the XMen. So I prefer Capcom's XMen depictions

Erm UMVC3 had 50 dude. And it was better than mvc2 since it had variety and not overwhelmed with xmen and street fighters. But MVCI was abominable.

I hated the game cause it was mcu vs capcom. Not Mvc I wanted X-men.

The saddest part of this game for me personally is this is Megaman X’s first finally debut since he was clamored from MvsC3. But the dev team and the company behind it decide to botch their presentation up with this humiliating launch.

Remember Disney tried destroying the X-Men by actually cancelling the comics in the X-Men vs inhumans. But when they saw the huge drop in sales they decided to call them back.

Yup, safe to say that Disney essentially ruins anything it touches with a 100-foot pole nowadays. Even its own IPs are unsafe.

I'm a 90's kid. I grew up with those X-Men movies. I had a Wolverine action figure and a glove with the claws out. Played Mutant Academy, both Legends games, and (regrettably) the DS version of Origins. I can't say I'm a big fan of Marvel but I was an avid enjoyer of the movie, games, and shows. And there are likely many people like that. No way you could make an excuse like that for the exclusion of X-Men characters.

I enjoy Capcom's portrayal of MARVEL, particularly in the first four MVC games. Their Animesque art style for the MARVEL characters is intriguing, although the comic book style in MVC3/UMVC3 is also impressive.

Marvel at this time was trying to phase the X-Men out of their comics and replace them with the Inhumans, simply to spite Fox, and not advertise any characters that Marvel didn't own the movie rights to. They were doing the same with the Fantastic Four. They would release merchandise like T-shirts using old comic book art and would remove and replace X-Men and FF characters as if they had been in a photograph with Joseph Stalin.

I'm surprised that you've never mentioned the fact that the game was supposed to have had around 60 or so characters which was brought to life by UMVC3 Evo Champ Ryan "Filipino Champ" Ramirez due to him having multiple devkit versions of game which he showed off on stream (this in turn got him a C&D from Capcom). A lot of stuff from characters, stages, & costumes never made it in because of how bad this game bombed.

You forgot, one thing, one of the things that helped sealed marvel versus Capcom, infinite fate is the fact that Dragon Ball fighter Z came out less than a month later. And it retain all of the excitement that marvel versus Capcom two had.

Capcom's depiction of the X-Men, is definitely superior.

With how Marvel treated the X-Men and Fantastic Four over some film rights, it's clear now that Marvel went from a comic book company that make movies on the side to a movie company that happens to make comic books once in a while.

Back when Capcom created the likes of X-Men COTA and MSH, Marvel wasn't as controlling. Capcom chose obscure characters such as Shuma Gorath and Blackheart for MSH. When MvC3 was being developed things had changed -- Marvel said no to Juggernaut and Blackheart; they directed Capcom to use Dormammu as a Blackheart substitute (Shuma Gorath was relegated as a DLC character). And of course you can see in Top Hat Gaming's video what happened by the time Infinite was being developed.

I could be wrong on this, but I’m pretty sure the initial launch of mvc3 occurred before the sale of marvel went through. Development certainly occurred before the dust settled. Pretty sure the official sale occurred after the initial launch and before the ultimate version, hence why it was truncated with just a handful of new characters and no further updates. Disney started killing the franchise all the way back then by choking off what could’ve been a more expansive version of the third game

To be perfectly fair regarding the favoritism toward reps tie in for MCU: Marvel Vs games in the 90's were filled with Xmen characters for the very reason why Infinite had a lot of characters that were popular due to the MCU. In the 90's, Xmen were all the rage and peaked in absolute popularity, the entire Marvel cast lineup always favored them over everyone else including even the likes of Spiderman. This is why the Xmen always had a significant hold on the Vs titles. Even in Marvel Vs Capcom 2: 18 out of the 28 characters that represented Marvel were from the Xmen comics, and two of which were just variations of Wolverine.

Yeah I totally agree that the real reason that the MARVEL roster in MvC:I sucked, really was all because of MOVIE RIGHTS.

Having X in the game was so cool, but man, they dropped the ball. I really hate how in the cutscenes, X and Zero kinda just hobble around. I get that they have big, unnatural legs, but this is a video game.

Also Dragon Ball FighterZ came out at the same time and had a much better presentation and it helped kill this game,

Besides Spider-Man, X-Men is the most enjoyable and marketable of Marvel's creations.

The fact that Dragonball FighterZ came out at the same time and was everything that players had wanted from MVC that Infinite wasn't didn't help things either. I would love to have been a fly on wall at Capcom when the FighterZ trailer dropped they must have been like "oh. crap." Speaking of which Capcom really should hire Arc System Works to do Darkstalkers IV.

MvC Infinite should’ve just been renamed MCU vs Capcom because that’s really all it was. Though to be fair, MVC3 didn’t get it right the first time around either but at least UMVC3 sort of made up for it even if it was the game it should’ve been at the start.

I know dis handicapped Capcom in terms of roster availability, but what the heck was stopping Capcom from introducing new characters from their own library?

All the budget has been to the story and even that wasn't all great. Cool concepts in it sure but nothing paid off in the end

Disney didn't own Fox when this game was being made. That's why there's no X-men. They would've had to pay Fox for the use of their characters and they were in the process of trying to buy them outright. They wouldn't have an easy time trying to buy Fox if they were still paying to use their characters. They wanted to undercut their importance to lower their price. So you were right about corporate greed, but wrong about it being to support their movies. It's actually a really good game mechanically, which is the frustrating part. The single and only reason this game was terrible and unplayable for many was entirely the fact that there were no X-men. People wanted to play their iconic characters. Massive L for Disney. Greedy cucks ruined the best fighting game franchise of all time. The worst part is, they own all the X-men now and could easily make a new and amazing MvC game, but they might never do it because they are idiots that don't realize how many people want and would play that game. They are business men that only look at numbers. Yet another great thing ruined by capitalism.

Honestly I doubt the series is dead. With Ono gone from Capcom and Ike gone from Disney and the major secess of SF6 I believe MVC4 will be a thing again

The x-men are personally my favorite team In marvel comics and to see them not in this game is just wrong and mess up on so many levels it isn’t even funny but just sad and depressing.
