Xu Wenwu is not the first sympathetic Villain MCU wrote. We all got to see and to a point understand Erik Killmonger, Loki, and Thanos. What set Wenwu apart is that he was motivated completely out of love, and not out of hate, revenge, envy, or megalomania. Killmonger, Loki, and Thanos at some point lost their benevolence to Megalomania. But all Wenwu wanted was to have his wife and family again. He is willing to give up all the power in the world for his family. He is simply one misguided man

He has the exact same level of facial expression acting as Ian McKellen when he played Gandalf in "Lord of The Rings." You can really see the emotion, class, talent and the experiences he had in his journey as an Actor 💯

Wenwu is the one who impressed me the most.

Tony Leung was the reason I watched Shang Chi in the first place. So proud of him, as he is a legendary actor in our Chinese Entertainment Industry. So happy that his first Hollywood debut is his portrayal of Wenwu.

God not since Killmonger has a villain made me sympathise so much with him in a film. Just the perfect blend of tragic past, misplaced motivations, sheer power, and good looks

I want to see a wenwu in the past. All those names he was once called of.

Every scene with him was class. Even him doing nothing and simply sitting with his hair falling on his forehead .. this man was the biggest actor Marvel ever had.

So many emotional moments really got to me when watching Shang-Chi and Wenwu really was a standout character in not just this movie but the whole MCU

His story, is a story as old as time. “And lo, the beast looked upon the face of beauty, and beauty stayed his hand, and from that day forward he was as one dead”

tony leung says he could not find any part of him as a villain. i watched the movie 2 times, his interviews many times, thought about this always. but i didn’t understand it. he’s arrogant and kills, he’s the bad guy. but then i realised the unique thing about him is that he’s never filled with hatred. it is the desire of love that he never got before. he’s like a lion that eats everyone but just a little kitten inside. “his eyes tells stories” i understand it now. he is truly an amazing actor.

I felt sad whenever I watched Wenwu's scenes, but this edit made me straight up bawl. It's such a great combination of his lines, the music choice was phenomenal, the way you faded his wife into his son when they were spinning him the exact same way. This edit was such a tasteful one and I will definitely be back to watch it again. Wenwu is just such a tragic character and part of me really wishes he could have lived. But I do understand that the best choice for his story was death, however much that end sucks. Tony Leung is such an incredible actor, and you can just see the miniscule emotions portrayed on his face. That moment when the dweller in darkness shot out, you can practically see the color draining from his face, and he didn't even hesitate to push his son out of the way at the cost of his own life. It's almost like the second he realizes he's been tricked, he realizes his age and he realizes how almost senile he has become. Because of this, instead of fighting back against the dweller in darkness (something he could have at least attempted), he chose to look at his son one more time and hand the legacy to him, knowing that he would bring fresh blood to the ten rings and he would use them better than Wenwu ever could. This edit was just the perfect way to show it and I absolutely adore every bit of it. Thank you for bringing this beautiful work of art into the world.

Wenwu was SUCH an amazing character, and his complicated, deeply moving but messy relationship with his children brought this story to a whole new level...

Wenwu and his wife deserve better

Xu Wenwu, The Mandarin, is my favorite villain in the whole MCU. I love your tribute to him.

The way this character is portrayed by the actor behaves exactly like someone who is not bound by time. Great actor. Great editing Ash Arnold.

Man shang chi was such a nice breath of fresh air compared to the same recycled material the mcu spews out....but damn WenWu is probably my favorite mcu character helluva performance by the GOAT Tony Leung

Ying Li, the guardian "angel" of Ta Lo, was the only person that was able to cast out Wen Wu's demons, but Destiny would deny them their "happily ever after" in this Life. With his death, Wen Wu was reunited with his Beloved + finally at peace. (Destiny/Fate is an ubiquitous theme in Chinese Culture.)

Without Wenwu, this movie would of not been the same.

Wenwu for some reason was more interesting person than Shang-Chi ! Marvel should give wenwu another chance to come back!!

As a man, i would not cry in any situations like Romeo and Juliet or others but this video made me cry for first time in my life. The Mandarin is not exactly villain MCU hoped for but he loved his late wife too much and did everything to get her back. Wish your talents should notice by Hollywood, man!!

This Movie and this Video is really heartbreaking and heartwarming too. It was touching my Heart so hard. Wouldn‘t we all trying to bring the Person who we love the Most back home, like Wen Wu?!

Wenwu need his own series

He just wants to get his wife back, because a man who gives up everything for his love is a great man. Like me, I still try my best so that one day I and her will meet again

Love can change a monster into human. But taking his love away will make him a mad man even worse you've ever seen. Should have portrayed him more fiercely but I still love it. He stayed in a way his wife wanted but he did what he could do to bring her back. Wish there was a way. I feel bad for Mandarin. Someway we all can relate to such people.

The wenwu character somehow had to face some bad karmas due to his misdeeds as a dictator before meeting his wife. He is lucky to meet his wife and that changed his character to a more a humane person rather than a dictator. That why at least at his last breath. He realised his mistake and let go the rings to his son. This mcu movie feels more like a life philosophy movie and is very educational one too.

Definitely in my top five favorite marvel villains. Wenwus pretty much the main reason I liked the movie so much

I have to save her! She is calling to me... he wanted to kill her at first sight, then he able to literally kill everyone (even himself) for his woman.

For god's sake, can we please stop calling Wenwu "the Mandarin?" He literally spent a whole scene telling us that he hated the name given to him by a bunch of imitators.

The Mandarin (Wenwu) if we think deeper we can see he's the villain with one of a kind tragic death in the MCU. He already stopped being a villain until the Giant Soul Eater pretends to be his dead wife, manipulates him and died sacrificing his life for his son, much like his nemesis in the comic "Iron Man" which actually have nothing to do with him and Yondu.
