Say it again! So many people don't understand that, that as well can mean ANYBODY U CALL FAMILY! TOXIC IS TOXIC NO MATTER WHO IT COMES FROM BOTTOM LINE!
@@ChanelsRantHe was jealous Marvin didn't understand why his father was dressing like a women and his father saw that Marvin wasn't down with that and his father hated him for it that's what I got out of it.
Classics example of a parent not wanting their son/daughter to “out do” them in life. Constantly putting them down. How bout good job son. I’m proud of you.
@Oworks oh I didnt know that. Thank you for the info. Its really tragic. I cant imagin what the parents of Marvin had to go trough as mother and father having your son charging at you...so sad, so so sad.
Yep, he dressed up into some of his wives clothing and wore his head gear outside. One of the neighbors said that they laughed and when they would notice that it was their neighbor they would then say.. "Oh...that's just Mr Gaye outside," just like it was no big deal.
@@Da_Publick who the blank is Jenn? Marvin didn't NEED him🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾we knew Marvin but Jenn seems to not be that important, I'm just saying 😉❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚
But if you listen to his song Everyone needs love from here my dear, he clearly wails a line about his father needing love and to come back and know this story, that line in that song is so much more heartbreaking
Wait! Was that a WIG?! Omg you lie "n" to me! Nooooo you saying that grown a** man on camera with his celebrity star son. Wearing a damn wig? Huh. Was he gay with that wig on and mamma's family shirt on.
Marvin Sr. was a Pastor during the day and a cross dresser while at home with his children and wife. Marvin Sr. would put on his wife clothing and walk through the family home as a woman. Marvin Jr let him know that he was preaching the word to his children and wife. But secretly living his life as a woman and his father didn’t like being called out. (Hypocrite) Also Marvin Sr. was very cruel to his Marvin Jr. through out his whole life. Marvin Jr was beat more than any child in the household. Marvin Sr. wasn’t very supportive of his Marvin Jr. If you look at the way Marvin Sr talk verbally and the movements of his body and hands there’s no doubt he has homosexual tendencies. There’s a documentary on RU-vid called (Marvin Gaye: The story of the last 24 hours) full documentary that will explain everything Marvin Jr. endured as a child.
@Trell Watz76 I thought it was good to see his Dad saying good things about his son. I don't think it was uncomfortable at all. And I think Marvin accepted his Dad for who he was at that moment. Or else he wouldn't have done a public interview like that with him.
@Mr. O I know Sir. I did say "at the moment" and most children love their parents no matter what. I saw something positive there and I stand by what I said.
This video haunts you. Just like anytime you see a picture of Roger and Larry Troutman together. It be those closest to you that will bring you down. Rest on Marvin🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Bottom line is Marvin’s dad had a couple of hidden secrets. One was open, but done late in the evening/night. The other hidden only to those who were and got close to him. Nonetheless. As you can see, Marvin absolutely loved his dad. And was deeply encouraged by him when he approved of him. However, Marvin’s dad was very jealous of his musical success and didn’t want him to pursue music from the get go. Parents and Guardians beware!
The self soothing hold he had on himself next to his father was telling he experienced abuse at this mans hands and eventually death... His dad was clearly a man battling his sexual identity and his anger was directed at his masculine son.
Father, father We don't need to escalate You see, war is not the answer For only love can conquer hate You know we've got to find a way To bring some lovin' here today, oh, oh, oh...
Father was a cross dresser .. Marvin Gaye was so soft spoking and seemed so sensitive. All he wanted was a father's love. No matter how old we are we all want our parents love.. Unfortunately his dad couldn't give it to him
You hit it . Even as a grown man, you still got the sense his father was hugely important to him. You almost could feel the tension & hurt. & yes, the abuse surely was the worst part, but him cross dressing with no discussion certainly didn't help matters. A very sad, sad end, to a truly gifted & sensitive artist.
Did not want to see him "broken up on a stretcher".....but had no problem in putting him " shot up in a casket".Makes me sad to this day,you can tell Marvin is a gentle soul. You will never be forgotten Marvin❤
@@canival317isback Definitely. You heard the rumor Marvin came home and caught his dad wearing his mother's night gown. I know someone who went to high school with him and he said he always seemed to be ashamed of his father but loved him and always wanted to impress him.
+AHAYAH LIVES you wat I think they would still be here! His soul went when she died! That's when the stupid ass drugs started coming in his life!!!I miss Mr Gaye!Marvin Jr that is😖
His father was so afraid he’d be greater than him and he was right because he was one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Rest in Peace Marvin, thank you for such beautiful timeless music
Father narcissist all about him. Every time his son speaks he claims his sons hopes, emotions etc and makes them his own. His father is obviously gay as well and his conflict inside he projected onto his son. "Im gonna give that to you" the one compliment he squeezes out he needs to make a communal declaration of HIS pride in his sons achievements. Poor Marvin had it all but nothing at all as so damaged by his father.. You can be the most talented person but if you don't have authentic love and a supportive home life and a narcissistic parent, its toxicity stains a child's life forever. Marvin is one of the greatest musicians and singers of all time.... We are all still in love with Marvin, so sad his father was so twisted
If people dont believe you when you tell them about a close family member being jealous of you just share this clip with them. A damn shame what he stole from us😥 RIP MARVIN.
My late mother had a sister that was jealous of her. She even tried to sleep with my father. And so much more even did wickedness towards me. Its like she despised my mother and anything from her. She is disgusting.
My favorite singer of all time 💯 I remember my dad and mom dancing to Marvin on their anniversaries. When I got older my dad and I would get beer, grill, listen to Marvin, and talk. My dad passed in 2016 but I still have many great memories and I still listen to his music 🎶
Prince and Marvin Gaye are tied for number 1. 2. Otis Redding 3. Barry White 4. Michael Jackson 5. George Michael 6. Phil Collins 7. R. Kelly 8. Usher 9. Johnnie Taylor 10. Rod Stewart
I believe Marvin Gaye father was very jealous of Marvin's success because his father didn't amount to anything in life but Marvin Gaye conquered the whole world with his music
@@lllewis2506 His father was a nobody. Being a pastor doesn't make you a good person or accomplished especially he didn't believe in anything he was preaching. Marvin was much more talented and charismatic than his father. Just because he taught his son about music doesn't mean he was not jealous of his son, because he was. Marvin jr was everything Marvin wanted to be but couldn't
@@lllewis2506 how can he preach the word of God honestly yet be a closeted homosexual dressing in woman's clothing. Sounds like mental gymnastics coming from a agnostic.
@Nubiamancy No Joe wasn't he might've been stern with them and dicplined them that's because he wanted the best for them but Marvin Sr is one of those jealous narcissistic fathers who couldn't stand to see his son succeed so he had to put him down in order to feel important. Rest in Peace Marvin Jr
Marvin definitely was one of the coolest cats ever. Very smart articulate guy. And who could actually rock a toboggan, but Marvin Gaye!!!! Rest in peace, my brother.
@@bvictorian12”I ain’t no bandleader, yeah, I heard that story.” Sounds like some Godfather stuff. Where did you get that serial killer stuff about Marvin Gaye?
@@keithknox5829im not OP and ik its almost a year later but; a website named “crazydaysandnights” reported a cover up story in regards to a 50s midwestern string of killings that sounds like American Psycho tbh. The only reason this is relevent is because that website was correct in outing hollyweird before it ever became public. Weinstein, kevin spacey, and more. Tbh its not far fetched BUT i do NOT think it was Marvin. 50s too early.
From what I’ve heard many people F Gary grey, Dr Dre, even spike lee have been trying to get a bio pic about Marvin in the works for a while but the ideas on the direction of the film and the topics surrounding it is what has it on hold, I feel like with the right actor and if they go all out it could have the potential to be what the movie “Ray” was
It's a bittersweet memory. Marvin Gaye was the first artist I heard when I was around 4 or 5 years old. I recall a relative visiting, playing "Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye loudly. He was a truly exceptional musician. It's unfortunate that the person who is supposed to be your protector, your own father, can take your life. This is heartbreaking.
I remember being a kid, riding in the car listening to music with my father and the DJ announced that Marvin had passed... i couldnt understand it. After growing older amd learning that hia father was responsible for his death, i was completley confused! Just witnessing the dynamics between this father and son explains alot regarding the respect that Marvin Gaye had for his father regardless of his own success! You reach a certain level in life, a certain level of accomplishment and it's not even about money, its about maturity. Sometimes you can become defensive to protect your position when people seem to try to undermine and down-play what you've established. This video shows that Marvin continued to express humility! Rest in Peace Marvin Gaye
I was a little girl when I heard he was gone, on the car radio also. I never forgot it because it was April 1 & my cousin & I thought it was an April Fool's joke until we saw my aunt crying
Of course. Other people would have been the same way. His father abused him mentally and physically throughout his childhood and they completely despised each other even though it looked like they loved each other.
@Pamelafountain60 jones IKR? How do you do that? I was lucky to have a good father in my life. But, it’s sad that Marvin did not have that. I have a feeling he had thoughts throughout life thinking about why his father whipped him, why he hated him, and why he was jealous of him.
It's absolutely heartbreaking and to know he lived to see 84 only shoves the knife deeper. straight up jealousy I wish marvin had better friends and family.
I think when i first turned on this video was the way the dad was dressed. He murdered his son out of insane jealousy pure and simple contrary to the media narrative.
He wanted his father kill him though, thats the tragic part. He wanted suicide, he wanted to die and he wanted his father away from his mother. In the shooting he got all of his wishes, he got to die and his father was away from his mother.
@@tashagotit7747 I'm sure you can find the story of Marvin Gaye on RU-vid. His daughter is Nona Gaye she played in the Matrix. She looks just like her dad.
And this is why they are called “Stars”… so many of these talented people had to go through so much and yet they were able to rise & shine so brightly above it all. Marvin Gaye was definitely a beautiful 🌟
I can't stand to think that this talented, loving, creative being who shared his talent in such a loving way would get murdered. Much less by his own father. Marvin had such a loving, peaceful heart. 😢❤🙏
Marvin Gaye's father dressed in women's clothing even outside and the children used to tease Marvin. Marvin's father was a cross dress and a Preacher. I don't know how Marvin's mother stayed with that man especially with the way he treated her son Marvin she should've protected him. Marvin died protecting his mother.
@@TW-mg3ldunfortunately mother's stand on the side and say nothing while their husband runs wild hurting the children and other family members Etc it's really sad how the mothers see all of this happening but yet keep a tight lip SMH speaking from my own personal experience my mom would sit there watching my dad do all of this crazy s*** and would not speak up to him to stop his ego filled nonsense
Wow! This "man" never financially supported his family or even had income, but dressed in female attire wore pink curlers in the neighborhood! Embarrassed the family then beat the shit out of poor Marvin! Had a separate bedroom and had church women in and out in front of his family! Reality TV has nothing on this trick! Smh!!!
Creepy is a good word for his father and to think he was a preacher too. A gay pastor named Gaye who may have actually been proud but also clearly jealous of his son's success ........
I think family relationships are the most complicated. Marvin seemed like such a sensitive soul like anyone who has and will I think he struggled with himself. Rest his soul.
Body language NEVER LIES. Marvin is guarded....legs/arms crossed with little to eye contact. He shut his father off mentally. The love doesn’t change but the tolerance does.
@Bubbub2020 Topps Sorry to hear that. If resolution is possible; you'd might want to try it; if you absolutely can't, few would blame you for going ahead saving *yourself* .
Wow! My my dad would tell me stories about his father growing up in DC in northeast. Said he was flamboyantly gay and extremely jealous of his son. RIP MG!
I will stand on the hill of PEOPLE should NOT have kids unless they're emotionally, mentally and financially ready. Additionally, love and patience. MG Jr was so soft spoken. Reminds me of Marlon Brando Jr. Their fathers hated them. RIP to MG Jr.
Marvin gay's dad was gay,and also used drugs. he was a hater...he couldn't stand Marvin,he was a jealous azz man. marvins mom was afraid of him. I hate he had to leave this world by the hand of his dad...his soul was weary and trouble. I hope the Lord has given him wonderful rest. Miss you Marvin.
Those words meant a lot to Marvin to hear his Father say those things . Even if they were a lie all children wanna know they are loved by their parents..Aww this hurts my heart his life was cut short and it all traced back to his daddy’s own dysfunction. We gotta break these cycles of pain amongst families so another generation does not go misinformed on what family and love is ☀️
Oddly enough, I believe the man was bi. Jan Gaye said in her book that he openly had women coming to "visit" him in his home, and Marvin's mama was also aware of this. And I forget where I heard or read that before I read her book, but it's been out there and she confirmed it. As much as I don't want to, I blame her (Marvin's mama) as well for Marvin's death because she could've found the courage and strength "through God" SOMEWHERE to divorce Marvin Sr. 😢
yeah his dad was jealous of him smdh.. Marvin Gaye the only dude in teh world probably who did not turn out to be like his dad. Most of the time the boys endup gay like their dad
I never saw his dad before. To see him sitting next to the man who gave him life and then took it as well…..man who needs enemies with family like that?
Nahh. Joe actually loved his kids, he just showed them tough love & all them ass whippings and hard work paid off 😂 he would have never pulled a gun on any of his children.
That hug and kiss. I saw lil boy in a grown man's body getting confirmation from his father that he'd been missing. Adults have to do better with children. I pray and work at not damaging my daughter with my BS
And so did my deceased mother,So do I and So does my daughter. 3 generations of Marvin Fans. There was a recent play (Pride and Joy) about he and Annas relationship, Zeola's play many years back, several docs, books about his life ...like Jan Gayes book but no big screen movie about all of the candid details. They must make it soon before all of the real players pass away. Anna and Gwen are gone.
Narcissists can be jealous of anyone who isn’t them and has what they want. Heart breaking. Please folks, learn more about Narcissistic abuse within the family, the knowledge will help break your trauma bonds. Much love to you all ❤️
Had a cassette tape with hits of Marvin Gaye on one side and the okays on the other side. Marvin Gaye's song Distant lover (live) is one song I'll never forget. R. I. P Marvin
This concert was his first concert in 5 or 6 years. Since Tammi Terrell had that brain tumor and fell unconscious in his arms on stage. This concert was recorded. That Distant Lover (Live) is from this concert in Oakland
