....there is even more subtext....at MOTOWN....there so many great dancers....MICHAEL JACKSON...OOPS....among others....and of course the great iconic choreographer CHOLLY ATKINS....MARVIN....said he was always too intimidated to dance....LOL...however it was the disco era.....and the whole PLANET...was DANCING....and as we can see and hear MARVIN....let himself GO....as he always encouraged the planet to do....man this video....is just...an amazing moment in pop culture....truly SOUL TRAIN....WAS THE HIPPEST TRIP IN AMERICA....
I wish I was their back then I was known to cut a rug I wouldve put my thing down trust me I liked got to give it it up so did he was so nice for him to dance like that and he put his thing down
Every time I see these kids at concerts just on their phones the whole time I just feel bad for them. They really don't know how much better it is to put it down and enjoy the moment.
@@roxiesolis157 your meme made my day! Right on! During these covid times, let's all take a moment and dance! Anyone can do, even if you just move a finger,or tap a foot,or just all out and boogie...c'mon world...Marvin would be proud...and Thank you Roxie(great name)! PEACE jan....
I have a feeling this was one of the best soul train shows to be at.. Look at those faces. Every single one has the biggest grin like they're having the time of their lives. That man sure gave off positive energy. I hope he knows how happy he still makes people with his music..
He was the greatest there ever was in music history! Marvin was the best! I loved that he was out there on the floor dancing with the Soul Train dancers having the time of his life & having fun! R.I.P. Marvin. God Bless!
Best Line Dance and 2 step song. Marvin.Gaye Just pure talent. Yes. I still listen in 2021. I was blessed to actually remember this Soul Train episode. I appreciate my Dad to exposing me to great artists

Not only did everyone have a great time, but he stopped lip-syncing and DANCED WITH THE CROWD without caring how it looked. Man, I wished I could've seen this live.
@@Elaine-my8pxHe was mad that Marvin was experimenting with hard drugs. They got into an argument and the rest is history. Marvin’s Dad was a minister.
Elaine Stocker 👋 and it's 2022 almost 2023 and I'm still listening and jamming. If you celebrate 🎄 have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New 🎉 Years🥂 💃🎶 🕺🥳 TaTa December 10, 2022
When no corona virus was in sight! I envy each and every one of you who got to experience this era. I used to feel special when people envied the decade I grew up in (the 90s), but this is what's up. (insert crying emoji)
My uncle owned a little hole n wall bar. Back in the 70s this was always playing on the jukebox. Everyone was on the floor dancing. Brings back memories…..
WOW FN WOW!!! WHAT A PRIZE WINNING, MEMORIAL PERFORMANCE. 🥳💎🌟 THOSE DANCERS CAN SHOW & TELL THEIR CHILDREN & GRANDS THEY DANCED WITH AN ICON--- MARVIN GAYE😎🦁🍾🎉🎰🚀🎼🎙📀🔝💯🕺🏽💃🏾👏 EVERYBODY WAS HAVING A GOOD ASS TIME. YES☆
Marvin Gaye Love making music and Love seeing people enjoying his music. I like the way he step down and join right in with everybody on the floor!! What a awesome talented handsome man he was. 🥰😍 WOW🎶
🎸🥁 I loved this song, they used to jammed this on KSOL FM radio in the '70's, my next door neighbor Tony, my friend's older sister & my older sister used to blast this song loud while they were stoned smoking marijuana, one time when they were jamming this song, we walked in their room & they were so stoned, baked, lit, toasted & high as a mother, the whole place was a smokey cloud hehehe.....lol🤘
I had a friend that use to go out with me. She use to love Marvin Gaye and when this song would come on in the Club, she would dance on the Dance Floor by herself. I use to have to tell her don’t do that, somebody is going to ask you to dance, she would embarrass us every time “ Got To Give It Up” would. Com e on That was her Song. Well it was mine too, but I didn’t do that. Marvin Gaye was a Cool Operator.
Mr. Marvin Pentz Gay _ in spite of his troubles, there is nobody like Marvin Gaye! A complicated, sensitive man of talent and depth; senior should've been evicted a long time ago, jealousy, resentment and all. "Heard it through the grapevine, That's the way love is, Inner city, What's going on, Let's get it on, Anna, Distant lover", duets: regal; add to all the songs going through my mind, soundtrack of younger, better days.
This is such a beautiful moment. You wont see anything like it today. What happened to us! Me and my father would jam to this in his office at the end of a long day. What a priceless vibe, and that bass line is the funkiest groove you will ever hear. Thank you Marvin. Still bringing joy and happiness all these years later.
I ADORE AND LOOVVEE MARVIN GAYE . REST IN HEAVENLY PARADISE SIR . HE HAD SOME BAD ASS MUSIC 🎶. THANK YOU MR. GAYE FOR THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC 🎶. WE WILL NEVER EVER FORGET YOU AMEN. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Marvin Gaye was smooth as they come, I Love his music always and when he started jammin with the dancers it was great I know they loved it! He got to jammin so hard and forgot he was lip singing 🤣...
I'm ready to leave this planet. I was blessed to have lived during this era & nothing will ever compare. I just wanna be with my folks & friends again.... maybe on the other side I will get a chance to relive these precious moments. This world of today I no longer want to be part of.
His music was magic, the sound to the life of my young self more than 40 years ago. A man that made so many people happy with his music but was fatally flawed…
