Just think Berry Gordy didn’t want Marvin to do any protest songs but Marvin did them anyway and the rest is beautiful song history. Rest in pease my soul brother
My number one and favorite artist and musical genious of all time in my lifetime! I pray I see my Mom, Dad, my sister May My brother Robert and my sister in law Gerrie My dearest Aunt Rose. My ma2 Gladys Miles and Marvin Gaye along with ALL of my family and friends that have passed on!
I love/ loved Marvin 8-30-2022 ,still can't get enough of his songs, instrumental or vocal. I listen to every utube video of his. I thought I had all of his albums butI don't . It is hard to buy the albums from the 60's I am a Baby Boomer and even now.I still feel like crying when,I think of his death. There are too many who were GONE TOO SOON .The music from my generation will never die.I pray the younger generations will keep these great artists music alive and not all the trash they make now Marvin will always be missed and loved
Juin 2022 in🇨🇵 Merci futur Simple... "En français " Cette chanson à plus de 50 ans .. Presque mon âge... Marvin était "The phenoman"... Eh!!! Marvin 40 déjà ✝️🧞♂️ J'espère que tu as pardonné à ton père....
I cry for all the youngins killed in our streets. Just think, they thought all those boom boxes were disturbing the peace back then. What I would give to see a young black male walking down the street with Marvin on his shoulder just blaring out the the truth "LOVE"
We never get tired of it, even continuing all day. Beautiful and soaring music, dreaming above the earth, in the skies ! On ne s'en lasse pas, même en continue toute la journée. Musique magnifique et planante, rêvant au dessus de la terre, dans les cieux !
Thanks for posting this... love it.. and can get 'lost' in it. I key on different sounds.. right now on the guitar and (I assume Eddie's) bongos. "What's Going On" is one of the greatest albums, and concepts, of all time.. applies as much/more today than then. To think Motown/Gordy didn't want to release it, but it became one of the (or THE) biggest sellers. It's Marvin's legacy. Is good to read about it's history and how it came about (like the impromptu sax intro by Mr. Fontaine). And a mistake where the engineer overdubbed Marvin's singing with his singing, which resulted in him doing layered singing on some song. Also great is this is the first release where "The Funk Brothers" were in the credits... from the movie (I forget name/exact quote) they were on more top 10 songs than the Beatles, Stones, and Beach Boys combined, but no one knew who they were.
What a tribute to Marvin! This song takes me back to the happiest time of my life. My 7 month old grand baby wakes up when he hears this song. He loves it!
I listen to this version while in flight from Richmond VA. to Fresno. While up above the clouds ⛅, and my headphones full blast, you can almost feel his presence on board. His lyrical inspiration should help us condemn all the wrongs we continue to make to this beautiful and wonderful place we creatures of God call home. Stop polluting! Stop the wars! Save the children! Our future, as well as our children, grandchildren and our children's children! Can I get an AMEN? 😇
What a wonderful song by Mr. Marvin Gaye, he was definitely ahead of his time when he wrote and song Mercy, mercy Me by giving all praises to his heavenly Father. Just look at what's was going on back then and you can see what's going right now. Lord knows what he was doing when He called Marvin Gaye home at a young age and his earthly father was only protecting his house. Don't worry because we will see Marvin Gaye again once we get to heaven, singing in the heavenly choir. So too everyone who listens to this song, take it seriously..🙏😇❤️💙👣💜🧡🤎.
