Most teams already have an general idea of where they are placing players on their draft boards by the time the combine and pro days come around. Brett Veach said in an interview that they have been scouting most of these players for 2 years by this time. Bill Polian once wrote that "Bill Cowher says, a significant portion of a player’s grade is “what he does on tape, not in the ‘Underwear Olympics.’ ”

Harrison asked the nine teams he met with at the combine if they needed him to show anything. They all said no.

Everything is a negotiation….including participation in the pro day or combine. Players--the good ones-know that what’s on film is what the scouts really pay attention to. Players know the difference about “football speed” and “track speed”--2 related things, but different things.

MHJ is already the concensus #1 WR, he can literally only hurt his draft stock. No point working out.

It's actually a smart move. Now teams have to use their limited number of visits to check him out. He's creating some mystery that teams are going to want in on

the combine and pro days aren't for top guys anyways, there for the guys that have been overlooked their whole careers. leave the workouts for players that still have something to prove, not the guys that already have.

Cardinals fan here - if he’s there at 4 and the Cardinals don’t take him, there will be thousands of fans showing up to Tempe to physically fight Bidwell and the management. The Cardinals are historically awful at drafting, especially at wide receiver (see drafting Andy Isabella in the first round over DK Metcalf as an easy example), but this is the biggest layup of all time.

People always say so and so’s work ethic is prolific, but the vast majority of guys in the draft are working out to the maximum degree anyways so it doesn’t really matter. It’s not worth mentioning someone’s work ethic unless they don’t have one

We do this song and dance every year. Guys that are projected to go at the top of their position groups don't have anything to gain by doing combine or pro-day workouts. All they can do is lose the stock they already have.

This reminds me of when Kevin Durant failed benching 185lbs at the NBA combine. I think it’s smart for top prospects to not go through with the whole dog and pony show when they know it can only hurt them.

Players are sooks. Fearful of injuries. Hold outs. Never seemingly happy. Especially players pre-draft. If a player doesnt partake in the Combine or Pro Day, that says alot about their attitude and approach to the game. Theyre about to be paid and looked after. Workout already

He was the BEST receiver in college football, I don't think he has to worry much

I would say he’s a slightly more Athletic version of Allen, although Allen deals with contact better, he runs good routs and has good hands. Nabers runs better routs his hands are even better, but he’s smaller. He’s also faster and has that quick twitch, Marvin will be fine. He might be the number 1 WR off the board or third, he’s still going in the top 10. I would say the only thing that would concern teams is you are team rep, and expected to show up and do your job and that includes occasionally dealing with the media. It’s a minor flag, but it’s a flag.
