Dan Ellsworth and Greg have had several discussions on Marxist thought. This discussion focuses on Dan's latest book, Marxism, A Latter-day Saint Perspective. They cover the DNA of Marxism to today's ideological movements such as DEI, Critical Race Theory, and Queer Theory.
We also discuss Marxism and the Church. Dan's book shows the vast differences between these modern Marxist offshoots and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Dan also boldly claims that Marxism is the "Great And Abominable Church" described in the Book of Mormon.

I immediately think of “Hope and Change” without any definition and how politically desirable that slogan was.

I studied Marxism while getting my degree in Economics. There I learned Marxism taught equity of outcome. In Moses 4:1 Satan says, “… Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor”. Satan was the original Marxist when he said, “I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost”. The concept of “no soul being lost” is known as “equity of outcome”. Equity of outcome is what God rejected in the pre-existence. Equity in outcome is the keystone of Marxism. Equity in outcome can only be achieved through the elimination of free agency.

Yep. What you are saying here sounds like chapter 9 of the book.
@brainhunter1000

The irony is that there isn’t equity of outcome in Marxism. Someone has to rule and make sure everyone else is equal via force. Satan was that person who would have raised himself above everyone else. That’s one of the biggest dangers of Marxism. The ruling elite become outside the law and become the de facto God.

Excellent discussion Greg and Dan! “Come let us reason together” and distinguish the good from the evil within the “secular philosophies of men” mingled with scripture.

About ten years ago, I was the elder's quorum president in my ward, and in a session/discussion, I brought up the concept that the war in heaven continues on the earth. I was met with blank stares. What is even more mind blowing is that those who choose one side over another, whether is be an election, the American revolution, etc, and those who are fence sitters always, almost without exception divide into 1/3, 1/3, 1/3. So then how do you reconcile that there must needs be opposition in all things? It seems to me that all of this is by design, and the good and the bad are necessary somehow. After all, the serpent was the most cunning of the beasts of the field that God had created...
@danellsworth9922
@danellsworth9922 29 минут назад
Interesting. In the book, I argue that in the future there will be a final division into two and then three. Marxism will divide the world into two warring sides, and the church will be separate from both of those.

Why is it being taught at BYU?
@danellsworth9922
@danellsworth9922 Час назад
Good question. One of the main reasons I wrote the book was so that people can name it. I do think BYU has turned a corner, but there are still a lot of people there who don't see the connection between things like CRT or queer theory, and Marxism. I hope the book can make it clear how these things are connected, and what I would like to see is the word "Marxism" being used more openly at all levels at BYU in order to shine a light on it there.

Great discussion!!! The adversary has always been about usurping and "redistributing" power. Marxism was never a political or economic issue. Politics and money were just two types of power that Marxists wanted to usurp. The church of marxism has a much more extensive liturgical calendar than the LDS church has.
@danellsworth9922

Look up, Ezra Taft Benson, Our Immediate Responsibilty. A talk given at BYU in 1966. 95 percent of members are not living up to his words. We must stand up and apeak out. It is our duty.
@danellsworth9922
@danellsworth9922 12 минут назад
I discussed Pres. Benson in the intro and the conclusion of the book. My guess is that people see that he stopped mentioning communism as president of the church, and they assume that Marxism is somehow not a problem. Marxism is not the same as communism, and I think he continued to warn of Marxism.

Erich Fromm was a Marxist psychologist, and he was actually pushed out of the Frankfurt School because he wasn't willing to lie. I have major disagreements with him on Marxism, obviously, but he did have some really good insights in psychology. I think the fact that he couldn't remain at the Frankfurt School reflects well on him. I wish I could go back in time and have lunch with him and congratulate him for his split with the Frankfurt School, then persuade him to drop Marxism... 😀
