Can you believe I found MCC this COVID seclusion from her Songs from Home. Bummer it wasn’t much sooner! I could listen to this song all day. Love her, her music, her poetics. And Angus and White Kitty!
What a beautiful song, what a beautiful singer, it has got to be one of the best performances I've ever seen on this program this hits me right in the heart
I so enjoyed hearing years later Ms Carpenter tell the story as to how she came to record the song of Lucinda's. What I truly like about this particular recording now are the words about "shouldn't I have this". I adore that her dear best friend, producer and amazing guitarist is her right-hand person up until he was taken too soon by CA. Thank you TheMC2Fan for ensuring that this Austin City Limits performance made it to You Tube. It is a good 'pick me up' beat when one needs such, with words to process as well.
Love MCC so much and love seeing her perform with John Jennings. They were special together and made such beautiful music. Gosh, I miss that man! ❤️She always smiles when she sings this! Thank you for the video!
What do you mean you "miss her." She's still around. I have this whole one hour show of her on Austin City Limits but have no idea how to upload it to RU-vid.
Too Bad - the only way I know (then) is to pay to have it digitized - which would probably cost a LOT of money...too bad - she is so good and so Brilliant a writer...
Nice comment. Why? Lucinda is a great songwriter and I understand when you say she sings this better. My best analogy is John Hiatt, one of the best ever. I personally prefer his version of his songs but there are lóts of great covers. Not that you should care but you posted. Have a good one.
Is it too much to ask I want a comfortable bed that won't hurt my back Food to fill me up And warm clothes and all that stuff Shouldn't I have this Shouldn't I have this Shouldn't I have all of this, and Passionate kisses Passionate kisses, whoa oh oh Passionate kisses from you Is it too much to demand I want a full house and a rock and roll band Pens that won't run out of ink And cool quiet and time to think Shouldn't I have this Shouldn't I have this Shouldn't I have all of this, and Passionate kisses Passionate kisses, whoa oh oh Passionate kisses from you Do I want too much Am I going overboard to want that touch I shout it out to the night "Give me what I deserve, 'cause it's my right" Shouldn't I have this (shouldn't I) Shouldn't I have this (shouldn't I) Shouldn't I have all of this, and Passionate kisses Passionate kisses, whoa oh oh Passionate kisses from you Passionate kisses Passionate kisses, whoa oh oh Passionate kisses from you Passionate kisses Passionate kisses from you Passionate kisses Passionate kisses from you Passionate kisses Passionate kisses from you Passionate kisses Passionate kisses from you Passionate kisses
She was living in Austin at the time, a much better known music center than Lake Charles, i.e. “one of Lake Charles” treasured song writers” wouldn’t mean that much to most people, especially since this was filmed in Austin.
