Mark wrote the lyrics. His friend, and co- singer with the Gaithers, Buddy Greene wrote the music for the song. What a team they made!

I'm an old atheist but I have listened to this a hundred times and it almost never fails to produce a tear. Stunningly beautiful in it's vocal purity and sung by a master who clearly believes every word.

Vic, Mark not only believes it, he knows it to be true. His voice is truly God given. I dont know you but it is my prayer that you find your way to God Through his Son Jesus Christ. WOW WOW WOW This is the best version..."you kiss the face of God". Can you imagine?!? I do not care how many times I hear this, it is worship!. I start to tear up. A couple of people have mentioned that this version is better than Pentatonix. It’s honestly not even a contest. This quality and nuance of their harmonies make them truly special. The fact that the creator of this amazing song consented to sing this with them really says something. Mark was part of a group called the Gaither Vocal Band who’s harmonies and blending are the stuff of legends.

@@marchyman3993 The lead vocalist is Mark Lowry. He wrote the lyrics many years ago. He sent them to another Gospel artist named Buddy Greene to write the music. Two days later, Buddy called Mark and sang his song to him. Both amazingly talented guys. The song has been covered by many artists over the years. The most popular would probably be the Gaither Vocal Band (the quartet Mark was a part of for many years), Kenny Rogers with Wynonna Judd, and my personal favorite, Pentatonix.

@@daveburnsmusic - I was blessed to work at a ministry/ radio network for 15 years and met both men on numerous occasions. Buddy Greene has to be the most humble and kindest man. What always floored me with Mark is I first met him as the "Christian Comedian", then he comes out with THIS! I never drew the line between him and the gathers for the longest time... duhhhh....

Before this I thought the Pentatonix version was the best version and no one could top it, but Mark's voice has such a story teller quality to it, and Voctave's usual great mixing and control adds an ambience behind it all that is unmatched. I feel like I just saw a movie with Mark as the wise narrator telling us his story.

I'm a singer at my church in the choir and in a 12 person group. As a person that has been given talents from the Lord to use for his honor and glory I can truly say that this is an amazing version acapella of Mary did You know. It affected me. I love vocals with no music. It's beautiful how God made the voices to blend together so beautifully. We are nothing without God. We can't even take credit for our own talents because God is the giver of all talents. When I sing, something happens in my soul that just opens up to God. I love singing for the Lord and I thank him for the talents he has given me and I want him to use them for his honor and glory. I love seeing other people that are born again do the same. You can win souls with your singing talent. Music can get into people like nothing else, the right kind of music, godly music. I don't know if anybody noticed but it's worthy to be re-recognized that there was a gentleman that responded in the comment section that he said he was an old atheist and he said how this brought a tear to his eye every time he listens to it. No doubt, the Lord had a hand in that and perhaps now he's no longer an atheist. I would encourage all children of God to keep that man in prayer. God has a lot to work with there to bring him to repentance, to bring him to Jesus. He may not know it but Jesus is calling him to come home. Please pray for him. Thank you for this song. It is beautiful

I knew Mark Lowry was hilarious, and I knew he sang with the Gaither Band, and I knew that he wrote "Mary Did You Know" but I had no idea he has such an amazing voice! I'm amazed at how simple, yet how dynamic this song is. Yes, the orchestration and vocals are out of this world, but the lyric itself is beyond beautiful. I can only imagine a new mother looking at her newborn child, so in love yet knowing there is a reason for Him being here. That child would go on to touch lives for centuries to come. Would do all that was said in this song and more, and by His name ALONE can still do mighty things just as He did physically as he walked in person healing, touching lives. Mary knew He was great, but couldn't ever imagine the extent of His purpose. That sleeping child, the great I AM will return. Your baby is God incarnate, the creator of everything.

This one of my favorite songs ever!!! Mark does a beautiful job singing it with or without choir but this choir really does a great job!!! God was really directing Mark when he wrote the words to this song! Praise God! Can you seriously wonder what was going through Mary when the Angel came upto her and told her she was going to give birth to the Great Messiah and not being pregnant nor having sex conceives Jesus? WOW! Than the words as she raises Jesus are just perfect! But than having your child be crucified for all of us! God is AWESOME and no one can tell me there is no God! Their is no god of those made up gods but the God that I know, the savior I know and the Holy Spirit that I know proves to me there is a TRUE GOD!

I love this version of this song. I shed tears each time. The power of this song just gives me shivers. Every note compliment each other really well. The group enhance Marks voice and create a dramatically airy sound that allows you to visualise the song. The soprano singer sends chills down my spine every time. I've listened to this about 75xs and shared it with any true believers. Every time I'm overwhelmed. Every time.... goose bumps, butterflies, tears.... imagine greater than this quality of voices in heaven.... perfect voices, perfect ears?!?! I'm going to need a new body to contain it! Wow....

Mark, dude, you're supposed to breathe! Wow, what a note! Your voice just gets more and more phenomenal with time. God has richly blessed you, and He has richly blessed us through you. Thank you for writing these lyrics, and thanks to Buddy Greene for putting them to music. I think the angels in Heaven must have been singing along.

Go get one of those Arizona Tea cans, or something of the same size. Put one end against the wall, and lean against the other end with your diaphragm and your forehead against the wall. Now, push yourself away from the wall just by breathing. That's called a diaphragm pushup. Do about twenty of those a day, and you will be surprised how much breath control you get when it comes to holding notes.

Nisso Stein The lead singer is Mark Lowry, who wrote the song. (Buddy Greene set it to music.) Mark has a number of videos on RU-vid, singing, doing comedy, and just talking and having fun. You should watch them. 😊

In our modern times, it often feels like even "Christian" songs are a performance. However, this song exudes a prayer of thanksgiving and joy reaching Heaven, like a Psalm or incense. Anyone well-versed in Judaism/Old Testament/Liturgical worship will get what I am trying to articulate. The beauty of this is indescribable.
