It seems like a lot of people these days are disapproving of the thin, vintage brows, but I think they're stunning. This is probably one of my favorite looks, if not my absolute favorite.
Sadly what you're saying is very true. I had thick eyebrows to begin with ( very eligible for the instagram brow trend) But i seemed to prefer thin glamorous vintage brows more. When i plucked them thin, i felt gorgeous but everybody shunned me for doing so as it is the current trend to have thick bushy brows.
Both are cute depending on how they’re styled. I like thick bushy brows but if they’re groomed nicely. Thin brows are cute too if they’re groomed nicely and not look like sperm cells lol just do you
For those getting on about her eyebrows. In the 70's, particularly with the Biba look, there was a major 1930's revival. Eyebrows were harsh and thin in the 30's. In the 70's as far as the eyebrows go, I've even seen ads where the models eyebrows are bleached out. It was a look at the time. One Madonna adopted briefly in the 90's.
It just looks weird here because her brows aren't actually thin. Sire it looks good from 10 feet away on a camera, but if you were looking her in the face and talking to her you'd see her ridiculous underdrawn, unplucked eyebrows.
Morrowind Nightborne I think it was both, kind of how we see revivals circulate today. I know the “hip” were rummaging through thrift stores then too, and clothing from the 30’s was more available. We can look at famous Warhol trans super stars who summoned 20’s/30’s era Hollywood glamour and they were digging through thrift stores for vintage frocks. Then anecdotally I know some older people who were the cool kids then and they’ve mentioned finding articles of clothing from the 30’s to wear out. We can also look at popular culture, Bonnie & Clyde (1967) created a 30’s fashion frenzy that would carry out into the 70s. Street fashion and high fashion were both pulling from the eras. I think the defining thread here being “glamour”. Glam in the 70’s was huge, and defining what glamour was being interpreted through people’s wardrobe choices. The old Hollywood era of glamour was tops for peoples definitions of glamour then. I think those ideas continue to this day.
I think of Biba I think of glossy brown liploss and plum eye shadow so this really hits the mark. You can get this look much, much cheaper with any number of products though, it doesn't *require* Chanel LOL.
So pretty!! The thin brows make it look vintage but you should have parted the hair in the middle that's how 70s hair was.. It's look so simple but elegant!
This! was probably one of my fav video tutorials of Mary's this and the 50s look! sooooo gorgeous and I do believe it will work and be beautiful for all skin colors.
Maybe I missed it but has Mary ever worked on darker skin tones? If not, then she should! I’m sure some people would love to see her techniques on brown/black girls!

Oh and I also don’t put a lot of shadow under my eyes, because heavy shadow would close my eyes even further. But for this model this makeup works so well! 😍

I can tell you that this must have Been a citylook because in my village NONE looked like this! They had blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick and black mascara. When i came back after a vaccation in italy i had green , brown and gold eyeshadow and clothes in the same color and by god how they stared at me. So in country side in small villages i was a strange fruit
I'm with you. I know she was going for authenticity but when everything else was so soft, and the model had such gorgeous natural brows, the one line stood out in a bad way.
i love the look but is it really necessary to use all-chanel products? like damn nobody can afford that shit (and it really is shit, ive owned a few of their cosmetic products in the past and they do nothing different to drugstore products)
She looks at least with 10 years older than she is. I wonder if this what we whant to achieve by using make up?! Therefore I find the model is to young.
Sometimes it looks like Mary is doing makeup on literal children. I'm in my 20s and would like to see ppl at least as old as me. They usually have nicer bone structure. These faces (they are beautiful still) are so round.
