The actual title of the song is "Sh-Boom" by the Crew Cuts, released in July 1954, it peaked at no.1 for 7 weeks in a row on the Best Sellers Chart. The R&B group The Chords had their version of "Sh-Boom" out at the same time, theirs peaked at #9 on the Best Sellers Chart and #2 on the R&B Chart.

She's definitely being dubbed over. The real Mary-Louise can't sing.

I would disagree. I think Mary Louise Parker and her fellow actors were singing over a sound track. It could be that someone other than Ms Parker was singing to avoid paying royalties for using the McGuire Sisters recordings-a singer of the era the movie was made-but that voice was not Phyllis McGuire.
