I think this song is beyond words on how great it is. Yes it was portrayed in SONS very well, but listen to the lyrics and actually listen to it for the lyrics and why this song was made, not just because it was on SONS. This song displays a very important part in everyone's life, and deserves to be listened to.

I don't know what it is about songs with the title of 'Mary' or songs about Mary (whether Mary, mother of Jesus); all the (non-religious) songs I've heard about her are some of my favorite songs -- lyrically and melodically outstanding songs (and rightfully so for multiple reasons)! i cried watching the episode that this song played in...as soon as i heard the song i searched it and downloaded it. it was the perfect song for the perfect part and the acting was AMAZING...i have watched the ending to this episode over and over and i still get goosebumps. totally Amazing!!!!

I just bought one of her live albums. She mentions this song was inspired by her grandma, Mary O'connor. Whether people think this is about Mary, the mother of Jesus, is up to our own interpretation. I think this song goes a little bit deeper than we think. IMO, I think the songs represents all the mothers who grief from the loss of their children, and still remain strong throughout their trials, and know that in time, she will eventually heal from her wounds.....just as Gemma did.

@thedarkpanther this is only my opinion but to me this song has nothing to do with divine love but that of a mothers love. That's a love that is so strong. the song make me think of all those mothers that have lost sons and daughter to all those brutal and horrible thing in the world, A mother should not have to bury there child so for that reason I love this song. Ps I am catholic and I don't worship Mary and use the term used is Mother of Christ which she was.

I too was moved by this powerful scene in S.O.A. This song made the scene. I didn't get that from it though. I took the scene that this was a revelation that was so big it overshadowed the squabbling that was leading to disassociation of the family and broke their hate and dominance briefly. It made me stop in my tracks. These ultra real tv shows are good. They cross into art sometimes and this scene did. It actually made me think of my broken family environment and want to reconcile things.
Heard this song first time when viewing the sons of anarchy. Perfect song for the scene of Gemma telling Jax and Clay about the raping. Could listen this song all day long!!
