Please, please never skip the feet while recording these masterpieces... the feet are part of the dance and carry meaning as well. Beautiful performance at a beautiful location.
I totally agree with you. It is so frustrating that the person filming got too close to the dancer and concentrated so much on her face and arms. The whole body makes the dance.
India maybe dirty and didn't have public toilets like that of America 🇺🇸 and China 🇨🇳.. but our Indian civilisation influences and existence is equal or better... hmmmm... yet Pakistan 🇵🇰 is given us a bad name.. hmmmm.. 😔
@@niharika8288 no it's the other way. They builders took the dancers as reference. Bc back then and sometimes in these days too these ladies dance in the temple for the main deity in the temple.
South Asians are so lucky to originate from such rich complex ancient cultures full of incredible and diverse ranges of art, music, myths, clothes, food, architecture, traditions, language and religions. Do not let it die out.
@@silverbullet3939 Interesting thought. Because it seems like all cultures need saving from other cultures whether it is from east or west and vice versa.
I am a Thai female student. I have loved Indian culture since childhood. I love India, love culture and love civilization of India as well. The history teacher once told me that Indian people are pretty. Grow up. If I have a chance, I will travel to India. 🇹🇭💓🇮🇳
Very beautifully lady as well as perfect dance. 50 years ago i was student of Bharat Natyam. Now i am 70 years oldman still love to see classical dance. When i see this video but little i became sad because of i couldn't see all foot steps some time it wasn't covered full part of dance. I am from Nepal 🇳🇵 I am so glad to see this dance thanks to making me very happy. God bless you.
one of the richest and oldest cultures in the world, look at her dancing skills, her rich costume and that background - that building alone must be hundreds of years old, simply breathtaking and so beautiful. I love indian jewellery, i have some in my collection.
Humanity ,all of them are so beautiful in peace ,we need to find path of peace between all of us .we are beautiful colourful and full of love without of religious and other nonsenses makes us arc enemies.
I've always loved traditional dances in basically any culture ever, but Indian dance is especially impressive, if only for the blending of the jewelry and music (plus the costumes and makeup are beautiful). And really, dancers like this wonderful lady are so impressive
I don’t know why but I am most captivated by how controlled and stable her torso is throughout all the movements. Lord I can’t even stand up without needing a chair.
Can't believe I'm seeing this for the first time - lockdown has its positive sides. This evokes just as powerful emotions in me, if not more, as Hula or Flamenco. Tears streaming down my cheeks...
I think all of these dances must have something in common, 'cause they all give so much importance to the story being told, and the narrative expressed by hand gestures and facial expressions
Who could see something like this and not say it is a work of art and has a cultural and universal significance that should be protected? Beautiful, incredible performance. Thank you.
This 8 minutes of masterpiece is a result of more than 8 years (or more) of practice and dedicated learning with the guidance of a guru. Incredible 👌🏾👌🏾 Odissi is the most graceful Indian classical dance form.
Come on, why the useless comparison and the superlatives? You cant compare the classical dances. But if you really want to, Bharatanatya is the most comprehensive form of Indian dance.
When I watch videos like this I feel like taking a trip to India and learn how to dance from the true masters.Their culture, language, music, food, dancing, costumes is indeed beautiful.
@MsLuminous1111 unfortunately you have some misconceptions. Here dance is not learnt based on their religious preferences. It would be great if people learnt that religion and spirituality are not the same thing. Have a good day.
@MsLuminous1111 just because somebody is muslim doesn't make them middle eastern, sis. there are muslims in india, muslims in malaysia (a predominantly muslim country), indonesia, china, etc.
@MsLuminous1111 India has the largest Muslims population And this dance form is called Odissi dance a cultural dance of Odisha state of India . This is not about religion, it's our culture.Anyone can learn this
There are gharanas who teach their styles to their family members. And one famous school in in madras who takes only kids. Many schools do take older people but they are not particular about styles. It takes atleast 2 years to learn basics. And you can perform at earliest 6 year mark.
Maryam, I love your dance. I've seen many artists perform this art, but I've never felt captivated and moved by such a performance. God grant me the blessing to see you perform live. Thank you for making the world even more beautiful for me.
Such refined elegance and beauty is breathtaking. I'd love to know the story she's telling with her movements. Gorgeous woman, and the music is totally enchanting.
Magnificent, how fortunate for this World, Westerners even, to view and hear this beautiful Classical dance and Prayer, which most likely would only be seen in Palaces, or on very Holy occasions, in holy places..
I must have been Indian in a past life. I think the culture is so beautiful. I love the clothes the women wear, too. If I didn't utterly dispise heat so much I would love to move there.
India has all climates and geographical features. That's the reason it's called a subcontinent. You can live in India in the sub zero remote mountains, cold deserts, hot deserts, tropical rainforests, lush plains, plateau, coastal or even tropical islands
@@pacificpacific okay, forgive me, I must have lived in one of the hot, dry areas in a past life, because that's the part I love so much. Is that better?
I loved this dance! I loved the smile of the lady dancing she is so beautiful!! Her smile made me smile! The Divine Feminine is strong within her. Blessings.
Watching this video I was thinking to myself, "I want to learn this dance to please Lord Krishna" I want to devote myself by learning these dances as offerings and to study them and understand them fully. This was very well done, as well. Haribol!
I hope you can find a teacher and do it! It is the most fulfilling path in life. There is so much beauty and depth to experience, and truly through offering this dance as a devotional practice, life will open and flower in ways that you could never have imagined :) Many blessings, Haribol!
Tried Odissi for the first time today, it's SO hard! Everything I thought I knew about dancing... well it wasn't to much help. Like trying to learn a new, completely different language. I'd love to learn it properly!
I'm Indian, the musical instruments, singing and dancing is usually started at very early age. It's pure dedication. You can only do your best but don't be disappointed if it seems hard. Never give up. Your passion for dance will get you there one day. God bless!
I agree i find that these dances along with traditional music in any culture is started at a young age. Even the native americans when they go to pow wows or events and dress up in their regailia they start at a young age their parents at first make their regailia than they start making them when theyre old enough to do so it emparts their spirit into their regailia same with the drums or hoops or anything they make. Theyre very entuned with nature and their surroundings
We’re not in the least two dimensional. Spend some time exploring Western culture and you’ll find marvels. You just won’t find them in modern western entertainment or media. We’re not without our own rich culture-we’re just doing a really good job of ignoring and forgetting it.
Yes brother India is mother of All religion grandmother of arts science mathematics and tradition .do yo know oldest surving philosophy books are Vedas which more than 2000 BC old more than 4000 years old.
Interesting. Speaking as someone who has never seen anything like this before I have to wonder about all the hand gestures and the footwork. I'm sure there is an intricate story behind the whole dance, It's beautiful to watch.
Those hand gestures are dance moves , symbols of things being talked of in the song and also mudras are signs made for the pleasure of the gods . This dance completes the worship of Jagannath in His temple and sends happy vibes that reverberate across the realm and ensure the welfare of the people there .
Odissi dance really classic ,love to watch their dance from young and the music really makes me feel very peaceful. Thanks for upload this amazing Odissi dance.
I often feel like Indian classical arts are designed to create a psychedelic experience - just without the psychedelics :) They are really amazing. Dancing odissi often feels like a psychedelic experience if I'm honest! 😅
Absolutely breathtaking!!! Thank you for sharing such beauty, I am sure, positive, that all Gods in the Universe will be pleased with this precious offering! Greetings and many thanks from Panama!!
Arjuna asked Krishna how he could worship Krishna (god). Krishna said offer me anything with a pure hear, even a blade of grass will make me happy. Out of this statement has come out all rituals of puja and offering flowers to god.
She is a great dancer. The temple is breathtaking too, and the song with the dance moves and the arquitecture and the clothes probably have a very deep meaning that eludes me. I just hope everyone involved in the recording of this video is not running or didn't run any risks in its recording and publication. I could feel a little bit of anxiety at the voice of the singers and got worried. It reminded me of a belly dancer called isabella. She did an artistic performace in front of a house/palace that looked like a very important historical monument too, and her video also looked like a politically engaged and very revolutionary work of art. Both videos seem to bring about the history of dancing and I'm very thankfull for all the people involved into making those works of art reach me.
Maryam, this is absolutely stunning! Also, I think you are not Indian but possibly Iranian? Which makes your performance even more heart-warming then ever. While its great to see artists like you learning our art and culture, its equally sad to see how current generation Indians are just keen on learning vulgar and tasteless Bollywood dance moves instead of endeavouring to preserve such sublime art forms as Oddissi. Wish you loads of success and happiness!
@@MaryamShakiba You are Persian?!. wow!!. Have you met your ancestors that is the Zoroastrian Farsis in India!!. I am shocked I thought you were an Indian.
I wonder if this is why i feel a strong connection to India ... I really want to go and learn and enjoy my experience there. This is so beautiful thank you for sharing this and the information/ knowledge about evrything. Many blessings 🙏🏾❤❤❤️
This is wonderful. Take note the difference between American dancers showing off as much skin as they can, and these classical dancers who have protection of female parts wit skirts. I am so proud of India.
Wow, Maryam Shakiba is unearthly graceful! Somehow I came here from a Scottish sword dance video. It is so wonderful that there are so many cultures and their dances in the world. I especially like how much emphasis is placed on facial expressions and hand gestures in this style. Thanks for the awesome vid!
I watched this vid more than a hundred times and still can't get enough. Her movements, the music, her smile and formost the bells on her feet makes this a DIVINE mix in Heaven a real Blessing!! Thank you very much. Proud to be Hindoe namaste from Holland
