The town I show at the beginning was mostly built in the 1880s-1890s for the Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad. The buildings are now part of a museum and in the summer you can even ride a portion of the old rails. Which is pretty neat!
The rest of stuff in the video was built in the 1800s, consisting of a school and old slate roofed house.

Y'got me, Kappy! When I found the RU-vid notification in my email, I followed the link to this before checking out my usual string of sites. I've been a model railroader and railfan for more than 65 years (born and raised within sight of the old Milwaukee Road) and became acquainted with the "Ma&Pa" before I was out of my teens. It was said, during the Days of Steam, that it seemed like the 12"=1' model railroad of some super giant railfan. Keep 'em coming!

I truly enjoyed all of this video. The trains are amazing! House is still standing but in deep decay. I always worry about your safety going in places like that. School house brings back memories for me. Thanks Happy for this great adventure!!

This is some of the last remains of the Maryland and Pennsylvania. The tracks in Maryland were abandoned in the 50’s and the tracks in PA were gone by the 80’s. The equipment and tracks is owned by a nonprofit preservation group of volunteers called the Maryland and Pennsylvania Preservation Society. I’m just glad you stayed off their equipment, most explorer channels would have been climbing all over it.

Hi Kappy. Question and info. Question: Is that a chimney hanging from the ceiling rafters @6:52 ? Info: Cool locomotive there. It is an EMD (Electro-Motive Div. of General Motors) 1200 HP SW9 switcher. it is powered by and EMD 567B V12, 567 cubic inches per cylinder diesel, rated at 1200 HP @ 850 RPM. They where made between between January 1951 and December 1953. This locomotive was factory rebuilt in January of 1954 after being involved in a wreck in Oakleigh, Maryland on November 16, 1953, and in active service up till 2000. It was sold to the museum in 2003. Where you able to sneak a look at the engine in it?

New Jersey Bill I am guessing it probably had a wood stove for heat. Would have been removed when the school closed.

@newjerseybill3521 6 лет назад
It is interesting the way it doesn't go all the way down to a footer, but hangs by the two steel straps.

New Jersey Bill I don't know. It was the only thing I could of.
@mamasgonecreating1967
@mamasgonecreating1967 6 лет назад
It does have a round hole in the side like the holes you find in old houses that had wood stoves for heat. The ones that they put plates over later when they took the stoves out. ????
@newjerseybill3521
@newjerseybill3521 6 лет назад
that makes sense, that way they can put the wood fired stove in the middle of the room.
