I just recently discovered you after watching the video In Tune With Time about your 2015. Basel watch. I just wanted to let you know you have my deepest admiration and can't wait what else you come up with 👍
No doubt that your works will be desirable 150 years from now and the past masters would be in awe of your abilities. I work with tiny electronics and when I saw you removing 1 micron of material from a shaft and the other parts that were all made by hand, I was very impressed and inspired! Thank you for sharing your story.
Very pure form of art and engineering. His watch moves me. I was skeptical that people could live with passion. But his dedication and commitment towards his dream make me believe that passion will make you alive, even after you passed away.
I'm infinitely impressed with your mastery and endurance !!! You are my hero !!! you inspire me for further improvement! I wish you success and long years!
I posted this on the documentary video, but I wanted to let you know that you have our full support. It is beautiful to know even today that there are still people that believe in heart and history like this. Good work to this young man, he is well-deserving for all of the praise in the world he gets for honoring his ancestors and pouring such love into his devices. I hope his creations touch the heart of everyone who comes into contact with them. They are as he says, living through their delicate mechanical processes - calling the ticking a heart beat (in the documentary). A timepiece is another life. His story is beautiful and I wish him the best, and for the safety of the watches I hope give another many generations inspiration through their heart beats... No price tag could ever be put on what you would feel when you touched one of these watches.... Its amazing...
This is the first time seeing your work. I trawl you tube to see people with true skill showing others there craft. And you sir take the crown. Never have I seen true mastery like this., Breath taking.Truly hand made. I am in awe.
I beleive you are an elite craftsman and you deserve immense respect. Your dream of being remembered even after you're gone would come true also may your timepieces be treasured by theri owners and be blessed with a long life.
I found out about you through a documentary where you created a watch that was inspired by the year clock. I have to tell you that it was honestly one of the most amazing watches I think I've ever seen. I have thought about picking up a hobby of building watches for the past few years and I'm telling you that you've inspired me to finally do it... keep putting up videos!! keep making watches!! Good luck and hope Basel goes good for you!
You're phenomenal. I could never afford one of your pieces, but your work is truly breathtaking. I don't think I could ever take one of your watches off!
I've just realized all my watches and the ones I could only dream have lost most of the sense they had. I Wish I could have one of his piece of art on my wrist. I would be incredible proud to let the people discover this Great Artist, Fine Watchmaker.... and an inspirational person! If an object could have a soul, his creations have it for sure. And I do believe in this. One of the most beautiful thing about his art is the passion and the efforts he puts in his work. I wish he will read this comment and feel my admiration for him and his hard work. Masahiro KIKUNO: I think I'm going to be your fan!!
Not just craftsmanship, also very creative. I wish someday some watch company make this watch with quartz movement, affordable price. I wouldn't mind the detail, just that gimmick is so desirable.
I saw your Basel watch video some time back. I am truly amazed about your dedication to keeping the tradition alive and your thoughts about the art of doing all this.
Kikuno means kick ass watch builder !!!! I too am big fan. Nice to see you got your own channel. I build superchargers and high end performance engine parts . Watching you has me wanting to try to make a desk clock
he is very inspiring to me. i watched the documentary about his japanese time piece he invented around the time i came up with my own escapement invention. i never thought i could make a watch, i assumed i was too incapable. finally, after i got my hands on a cad software, i taught myself to use it, then started making my inventions on it. never having figured out gear ratios, the cad taught me how to calculate them. i can't afford the tools he has, having a simple chinese table top mill. i'm trying to figure out my own fabrication method with the limited resources i have, so i don't have to cut out 180 gear teeth by hand, on a metal ring the size of a quarter... watches are one of the pinnacles for an inventor. i've invented two escapements now. sadly, they are only on cad still. i'm obsessed with time. as a philosopher, time has haunted me, as much as anyone else. making a watch is something i have to do. like my paintings.
Try to land a investor or launch kickstarter, if your concept and design looks good, many will invest. I would recommend you to come in touch with someone in the industry if you are serious about this.
Good god, the work lavished to produce each part. And the artistic presence of the final product. Worthy masterpieces for any high level horlogerie connoisseur for sure.
Maybe in the future we will be able to load all his knowledge into a computer so future generations can learn this talent. Imagine all the amazing things that would be lost if he passed away.
Congratulations on your great work and dedication. The world is better for your unique and devoted work. I also like the silent video! I expected sound, then I discovered that the video is more beautiful and intense without sound! :) keep up the great work!
Like many others, I found my way to this video from the documentary of you Basel show year clock inspired wristwatch. I just have to say, it is probably the most beautiful thing i've ever seen and to know it was all crafted by hand makes it even more so, I'd have loved to have seen in personally. Please keep creating and sharing your incredible talent, I build plastic model kits as a hobby and sometimes think I make a nice job of them but this degree of intricacy makes me feel like I should be quiet and sit in the corner.
I feel a incredibly strong sense of admiration and respect for you. You are my inspiration in life, not because I want to make watched but because i want the dedication and passion for something that you have for watches. The ability to push through all heart ships in the process of making something and keep going. Thank you for that. Best of luck, Milan
I have been following Mr Masahiro Kikuno for some time and just admire his dedication and persistence to perfection in Horology. His Temporal hour piece is just brilliant. Unfortunately, I was not lucky enough to get this piece even though I politely asked him and willing to pay full fee upfront. His queue is just too long.
W. S. Reamy This is his work, but he does not have a RU-vid channel.....I know I met the guy and asked him. The maker of these videos is taking stock footage that's widely available.
Hands Created by a Special God. Couldn't control My tears. One Day In My Life would like to own a watch made by this Great master. One Day I want to look at him and Keep Looking at him with My Hands Folded in Namaste and Just Remain silent. I will not be in a Position to talk him and put my feelings in words. My silence will make him understand what I want to express.Let him be blessed by the Great Master Hisashige Tanaka san always. Let the nature bless him always. Greetings to this great young respected master...from India. Thank you ( Thanks to NHK which had made me to lead here)
WOW man! you know.. I love people like you! They inspire me to become a watch craftsman. And what I love is that you have such a high skill, and is not doing things like tag Heuer or Rolex etc. keep it up!
Well, at the time I figured he would've had a small shop with a few apprentices. But when I looked further into his work, discovered that he does it all at his house! Finishing work, assembly and fine tuning in a spare bedroom, a spare toilet turned into a metal finish area and a machine shop in his garage! Basically he has my dream setup lol. But yeah, totally independent as you say.
Few days ago I watched the documentary about you - about making of the 'Japanese' hour-stretching watch. That was very impressive. Good luck to you in all your endeavors.
i don't say this , but this is a beautifull work of art , ❤️ i wish i could see this in person behind the glass , because touching it will lower the value of this masterpiece
Today people use computer. But the computer will never replace the original people who are the master of their class starting from the Swiss,German and Japanese and unsung heroes. Machine/computer is for short cut. But in the mind of God. Machine/computer ain’t crap
Certainly I can not hear anything. However, I thought as follows. The sound is small enough to not hear the minimal processing, silence as infinitely. Sounds made rattling when cutting a thousandth of a millimeter will not be heard. Listen to the sound you can not hear and try to see what you can not see.
I've watch your Documentary on how you make your timepiece make me satisfied someday when i become a millionaire i will visit you to Japan to make me one. to cherish and keep it til i die.
Very dedicated fellow. But.... I find his hand designs to be a little on the clumsy and inelegant side and his watch cases by and large seem to be almost an afterthought. I feel that he puts almost all of the effort into his movements without paying enough attention into the rest of the watch.
