Heian Shodan could've been in the late 80s early 90s before the split when Kagawa was still an instructor of the JKA. But now days Kurihara is part of JKA whereas Kagawa heads JKS.
@IEKUKATAKA I occasionally cross train with some Goju-Ryu fellas and other then the hojo undo, I didn't notice a whole lot of difference then the way I train. But, I train a little more serious then most karate-ka I know on that note. It could also be the lack of competent Goju sensei up here in Alaska too. I also have a marine who used to train in Okinawa, who trains with me now and loves it. Honestly after a certain time training I kinda figured there is no style only Karate and karate-ka.
@IEKUKATAKA How long did you train in a JKA derived system? Show or post a video of what you currently train in if you don't mind. so I can see what is superior. As far as Morio Higaonna goes he rocks! I respect his karate just as much as I respect many top shotokan masters. As far as a JKA derived system being a " bunch of deluded, uneducated crap" your words not mine, I would say I have had to use my "shotokan based" karate twice to defend my life in recent history and it worked superbly!
@IEKUKATAKA Tell me how you really feel! :) While I agree with you in some part, I also disagree in some point. I will definitely get back to you later,(work, teaching duties) interesting conversation!
