My vote would be Lancome Hypnose Drama. I like that you can literally do one coat and it gives length, and volume without clumping. Saves time. I consider one coat just 3-4 swipes per eye. Not like 50 like the lovely Lisa is doing. Lashes look beautiful, though!
Lancôme mascaras are the best I’ve used! Hands down. I use the Primer, and use the Idole. I also use the monsieur big and the definicils. All great. Thanks for the application tip, will definitely try that!
I love the lash Idol and use it everyday. Like you said you can build and build and it doesn’t clump. I like the length I get and to me it’s more natural looking which I love. Thanks for recommending it.
I just tried your mascara application tips and WOW, my lashes have never looked better!! Used my current mascara, Flower Beauty Warrior Princess, on my short/straight/Asian lashes and I can't believe how good they look!! Thank you, Lisa!! 💕
Monsier Big every time for me. If I don't wear it for a while I'm always surprised when I pick it up again .... it's just so good and very reliable. I love a good battle between products, great fun Lisa, 🌸💞🌸
Maybe it’s because my lashes are thick but the Monsieur Big clumps my lashes together really bad (I tried for months). I love the Lash Idole’s separation. I have never found a curler that fits my eye size and shape and the Idole curls my lashes on its own. I noticed you never used the “fluffier” side of the Idole wand, I love to finish with that side.
I used to go for Definicils 30 yrs ago. Now I would say my favorite is Hypnose Drama. I didn't like Monsieur Big and I've not tried Idole. Just typing all of the Lancome names in French has my spellchecker going crazy, lol. Loved the video @LisaJ. You've been keeping me company at work while I'm doing my least favorite thing.
Omgoodness I LOVE the Idole mascara but can't stand the Monsieur Big. It's literally one of the worst mascaras I've ever tried. Super clumpy and smudges like no tomorrow. However, Idole does everything I need it to. It's voluminous, holds my curl all day, lengthens and no smudging or flaking. It's kinda crazy how polar opposite they are to each other for me. Only complaint is Idole's price tag lol. I could definitely live without that!
So funny, my experience is just the opposite. Idole clumps and its goopy, and Monsieur Big is one and done quick and lovely. Plus Idole give me black smudges by end of day under my lower lashes.
I love that u compared these two mascaras. I prefer the Lancôme idols, A more natural false lash look. Don’t appreciate a dark upper lash like. Thanks again for the in depth informative comparison, once again help us shop more wisely. You’re the best
I love both of these mascaras for the reasons you mention in the video. I usually buy the mini size at Ulta in both because they last a long time, and I can try a couple others out at the same time too.
I treated myself to a tube of Idole a few months ago but haven't opened it yet, since I wanted to use up a few of my already-opened mascaras first. After your stellar (as always) review, though, I might make an exception and tear into it tomorrow morning, now I can't wait! I agree, there's something just so fun about mascara, instant gratification for short, straight lashes like mine. Lash curler and Idole, here I come!
I just happened to purchase the Lancome Lash Idole recently and absolutely love it!!!! I am always looking for a new mascara that gives me fullness and length and I love this! I also like Milk Kush mascara, Ilia Fullest Volumizing and It Cosmetics Superhero mascara (but its so clumpy). Thanks for your videos - so helpful!!! I give 2 thumbs up to the Lash Idole! Great product!
Love Lash Idole! Can achieve a natural look or build to dramatic. I have to try Monsieur Big! It looked easier to build without getting clumpy. Thanks!
@@tanyawersinger2693 a tubing mascara means to remove all you need is to wash face or eyes w a warm washcloth...it literally comes off like small tubes. Never runs during the day, stays put and makes your lashes seem very full and long..highly recommend...it's the only thing I use over and over again, no flaking...hope this helps
I love the Idole! My fave. I think you should try first layer with the monsieur the come behind it with the Idole. 😁 I also love that they have the travel size. Before you commit to it you can try it. I did that and totally loved it!
Hard to pick which mascara but I love your eye shadows today, they are so pretty on you, would you mind telling me what brand & colours. I have one more question, do you ship your brushes to Canada? Thanks
I love it when you do comparison videos of products to have a View of them both in real time. I totally agree, mascara is my absolute favorite make up to apply because it’s so gratifying! I’m with you, I always look down when applying mascara to truly wiggle the wand deep in the lashes. I learned it from some Seventeen or YM magazine article way waaaay back in the day and have been doing it ever cents! LOL!
Never had fake lashes and don’t want them. I want to try the Idole, I think it’d work for me. I like length and volume. And yes it tells like 15 coats of most anything, thank you! Can’t stand the “one coat” deals. Please! Another great video!
Really helpful video - thanks. I always have a problem with mascara - the brush comes out covered in product that then globs onto my lashes. I try to wipe the tip on the barrel of the mascara but it never comes clean enough. Do you have a tip for this problem? Why can't mascara have a better delivery system that produces a cleaner, less gloppy brush?
Loved the look of both of them but I believe the monsieur would be better for me. I barely have any lashes and tend to not use mascara because I end up making a mess on my eyeshadow and face and it becomes a lot of work to just try to get it on the few very thin short lashes I have. Any suggestions? I have had lash extensions before but just never seemed to really get what I wanted out of them and I believe it is because I just have barely any lashes. I would appreciate any tips and tricks. I was amazed how easily and quickly you did that and it did not get on your eyeshadow or face, you the Pro! Thanks Lisa you need to come up with a mascara to go along with you BK beauty brushes that I absolutely love!
I just opened my first tube of Lash Idol tonight to try tomorrow. I’ve repeated bought the waterproof Monsuir Big. It’s beautiful but does have a tiny bit of flaking. Nothing to stop using it though
So thankful for your comparison...I was wondering about the differences. This is a great video; to actually SEE the comparison...thank you so much! It was extremely helpful. By the way, what color is on your nails? Love that shade.
So glad you did this comparison. I’ve literally been wondering which of these would work best for me, now I think I’ll buy the Monsieur (sp) Big. Thanks, Lisa, you always come through! ⚡️💖⚡️
I’m new to mascara. Yes I know, what? Lol. My lashes are kinda nonexistent. I had lash extensions but after a year developed an allergic reaction and can’t wear them anymore :(. Can you explain the pros and cons of the diff types of mascaras. Been hearing words like tubing, wet/dry formulas, waterproof (didn’t know waterproof helped keep your curl). Anyhow, thanks and wish I had your lashes. Gorgeous!
Hi Jenny.Thick long eyelashes are overrated. I’m sorry you had an allergic reaction to lash extensions. Your body usually rejects what isn’t natural.I’m by no means an expert but I suggest trying maybe coconut oil: apply a tiny amount ( so it doesn’t go in your eyes). There are some good RU-vid channels on this topic. Hope this helps.🙂
I was so excited about this video. I absolutely love Lancôme Idole Mascara. I tried the Monsieur mascara & that is nice too. But, the Idole Mascara is fabulous 😍😍👏🏽👏🏽. The brush, the formula, the definition, the volume, length, it does not clump (finally 😀) everything you want in a mascara. The brush reminds me of the Chanel Inimitable Mascara wand. Thank you 😊. You look gorgeous 😍. Cheers 😉🌷
I have Lancome Hypnose Drama and I really like it. It has a nice fragrance. Not the "mascara" smell. Does the Lancome Lash Idole or Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara have the nice fragrance also?
I consider myself to have an acute sense of smell. Lash Idole does smell like mascara, but it is faint and dissipates quickly. Worst smelling mascara ever: Lash Freak by Urban Decay!
I really like the Kiss Me Heroine mascara I order the duo on Amazon. You have to get the mascara remover that comes with it because the mascara is very waterproof. It lifts your lashes really well and keeps the hold all day. It’s a Japanese brand mascara but it’s amazing.
I love that you did this !! Now we need to try Wayne’s new mascara ! Maybe try and compare ?? Thank you for making my day. Congrats on the team Lancôme
Both eyes look great, but the Monsieur Big definitely gives more volume. Please try the No. 7 The Full Ultra 360 mascara. By far, one of the best that I have tried. I used Lancome mascara years ago, and if I remember correctly, I loved their Definicils mascara. ❤❤❤
I think I will pick up both of these!! question on the Lancôme stick foundation…what setting powder is good to use with it? I am 59 so I have mature skin. I’ve got quite a few setting powders, loose and compact…Laura Mercier, Fenty, Becca hydra mist, No. 7, IT cosmetics, Too Face peach, Ciate London, Ofra, physicians formula, LYS, and a few others. Thank you for your videos 🥰
Lisa mentioned the Kosas Cloud Setting powder in her May favorites video. She said it worked well for mature skin. Stephanie Marie has talked a lot about the MAC Mineralize powder. It works well for me - I’m 63 with normal/dry skin.
Thank you for your helpful video after looking at your eyes from different distances, I think the left eye WINS!! THAT'S THE MASCARA THAT YOU DON'T NORMALLY USE, The Monsieur mascara.
I love both Gothic and Doll-Eye mascaras, furthermore, I also wear Angel Studio and Testimonal. The smell like the fruit apple and the are, intense black and collapsum black-whole jaguar. Starry Night is also a good idea, and Ipsum. Ah. Those are from Lancome 1930, but I like Dior and Sangi in Black Noir and Plumma
I love Lancôme mascaras. I think Idole is Definicles on steriods. Monsieur Big was a little flaky. You can’t beat Hynose Drama for volume without flaking. I find using the Cils primer, then Idole, and finish with the Hynose Drama gives the best effect.
I’ve used Lancôme’s Definicils mascara for decades and still haven’t found anything I like better. I’m currently trying the Lash Idole and am on the fence about it. I especially don’t like the plastic wand. I have tried a mini size of the Monsignor Big but really didn’t care for it. The next time I repurchase a Lancôme mascara it will probably be the Definicils.
If you read the ingredients of Maybelline Sky High mascara the ingredients are virtually identical to Lancôme. Literally the same until 20 ingredients down the list.
