Classic summation vid, Mike. Gave us everything we wanted to see and told us all we needed to know. Great insight for new commers, and if you happen to remember Every figure here on the shelves or in various people's toy boxes's- it's a priceless refresh

For me personally, the fact that I only had one MASK figure/vehicle was mainly due to economics. If I bought a MASK toy, that was money which wasn't going towards another Transformer. Adding to your point, Transformers is yet another action figure toy line that was not only not 1/18 scale, but wasn't even consistent in scale throughout it's own line! That certainly didn't hurt Transformers sales any!

Yeah, the G1 Transformers toy line was just not very good, although they had great marketing because I owned a bunch!

@@raywallacefan7786 It certainly wasn't very good by modern standards of Transformers design, but G1 was incredibly innovative by 1980's design standards. I appreciated the designs of MASK and Gobots for their added play value by being two toys in one as well, but they were too simplistic for me in comparison to Transformers.

The smaller size allowed Kenner to better-scale the vehicles without doing deformed proportions, which is what you get with a larger size. Even the 1:18 scale forces a need to creatively-interpret proportions of vehicles, which we see a lot of in GI Joe and the Kenner SW line. The 1:24 scale gave Kenner vehicles with spot-on proportions while still remaining at a good price point. At 1:18 scale vehicles like the Rhino would be around three feet long and sure as hell wouldn't cost $25.

Quite true, I only had a few MASK vehicles and figures but I remember how playable and cool they were. I had the green chopper, the indy car, the motorcycle with the sub, and my brother had the purple jet and the red sports car. I was way to into gijoe to deviat much from them. Fairly certain a few of the pilots are in the toys room at my moms.
