I recognised Seal's voice from the start - but man, I didn't expect him to do such an amazing persona. He did it brilliantly and really shows that what we see in the media is one layer of these artists. I'm so happy they get to do something like this show where they can sort of redefine themselves.
I disagree. When he was younger, I (as a music lover who never watched music videos or went to concerts) didn't even know he was black (African-British?), based purely on his voice. But in this show, I could tell he was black from his first song and throughout all of them ... and never recognized that voice. So he sounds pretty different to me, somehow, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's more rasp/ashiness. Still an excellent singer, gotta love Seal!
Seal absolutely embodied the spirit of this show perfectly. He had so much fun doing it that you felt it along with him, and whilst he's always seemed very straight laced from the songs he's had hits with, he is clearly up for a laugh and is super secure enough to poke fun at himself. I always fancied him before this, and am very pleased to find that I even found him alluring when dressed up as a random giant Elizabethan queen leopard. I'm not so sure about what's wrong with me for that to be the case, but hey, if we all knew why our brains did things like that, therapists would be out of a job...
Seal was truly feeling his oats the whole season. He was a total riot screwing with the judges every chance he got. I kept thinking it was him but going..no he doesnt perform like that. I was gagged when he took off the mask and I developed an even deeper appreciation of him as an artist thanks to this show
@@eiffelviolet I think I would've maybe been fooled up until he held that "Eeeeeeeeverybody" in his first performance. Seal holds his notes and his vowels in such a distinct way, it reminded me a lot of his song Bring It On, when he sings "Don't WAIIIIIT until tomorrow!"
I agree! I was so tempted to snap my fingers to the music. It sounds like the kind of song my Transformers OC Stormchaser would sing to either Mirage, Smokescreen, or Swindle in order to seduce them and steal their credits. (All three bots are associated with money with Mirage being a noble, Smokescreen being a gambler, and Swindle being a salesmech.)
That's one of the moment when I was like "no that's not really Seal I cant see Seal doing that"....Seal legit picked songs and did things to intentionally screw with everyone...a true performer
I dont know how the Judges can't tell that thats Seal ,his voice is a dead give away just like Chris Daughtry as the Rottweiler, certain voices just stand out .
@@c.j.6115 I agree. I'm not even a huge fan of T-Pain's music, but from the first couple of seconds, I knew he was the Monster. It blew me away that none of the judges had any clue. Nick knew from the beginning too.
You can tell he was having the time of his life from the get-go. I love how he seemed like an imperious, demanding queen in Somebody to Love, ordering her subjects to go find her somebody to love or it'd be off with their heads. He totally embraced the costume and made such an awesome character out of it.
I knew it was him the second he started singing, such a distinctive voice! Amazing to see him on the show, loved how he messed with the judges and his performances were brilliant, Somebody To Love, Big Spender & September were personal faves
A true talent that we don't get to see enough of. His voice is undeniable and I respect him more as an artist and father for doing the show for his kids. Such epic performances.....all of them. Not one of his performances lacked luster!!
Big Spender was PERFECT for Seal!!!! I’ve been a fan of his since the early 90s. I’ve always thought he’s one of the most underrated artists in the world. One of the most distinctive voices ever.
Seal is legendary. I knew from his very first performance that it´s him. He has such a unique tone to his voice. I´m astonished it took them so long to figure.
I'm glad he made it to the semi-finals, but it still shocked me when he was eliminated. Knew it was Seal from basically the start, though. Can't hide that voice.
Thanx for posting this. These wrapped-up packaged YT vids more than make up for not wanting to watch the full episodes. I would listen to this guy sing a users manual, high court proceedings, or phone listings. These costumes are glorious!
I didn't really like Seal before this!!! This show made me see how amazing of a performer he is I listened to this over and over for a good two hours😻😻😻
Anyone notice how his voice got better when he got further in the show that is impressive like in his first couple songs he sounded like he needed to clear his throat but was still good but with his last three performances especially big spender he sounded amazing to me a little better then flamingo seal is awesome
Again, who wouldn't have guessed right away that it was Seal under the mask is beyond me.... He has a fairly unique voice, and the singing style just gave it away.... when this was on TV I immediately knew it was Seal.... (guess I am a fan and has heard him sing many times, but still)
When he said, "When I was a teenager I liberated myself and since then I've made the stage my catwalk. Wether in New York or Gay Paree, I always try to channel my inner glamazon" I immediately thought Ru-Paul because he's a X-dresser and a runway model and had a song called "Supermodel!"!
Celeste Keenan I think he realised that since he’s a tall man wearing a dress he knew the general audience would just think Ru Paul so he leaned into it, but Ru can’t sing like that
Seal sang like Seal. I think they just couldn't let themselves believe that SEAL would come to the show because, you know, it's SEEAAALLL. He was having fun singing pop!
Can everybody shut up please about the fact that it's so obviously Seal? I mean, of course it's obvious, lots of them are pretty obvious, but he did a great job of playing into his character and it just didn't seem like it would be Seal to them. Nothing about this seems like something Seal would do. I guess that's kind of the point (that's why T-pain won the first season), but still.
I loved the fact that seal basically spent half the time trying to convince everyone he was RuPaul (especially the Glamazon and Champiom references). I also want a recorded cover of RESPECT in that purr because that was actually REALLY iconic
I knew who it was from the very first note. How the judges were so stumped is beyond me. It's one of the most distinct voices in music. "Stitches" should've given it away. Though throwing out "Glamazon" and "Champion" as clues was a smart way to make people think it was RuPaul.
