For 3 days recently on the North Shore of Oahu, Mason Ho rode only this 4-fin, 5'2 ...Lost (Red) RETRO Fish.
In this edit Mason takes his mom to his favorite pile of rocks to watch him surf. She always tells him to stay away from rocks but ended up liking to play in them herself.
Mason says "This board is really special because it doesn’t lose any speed in dead spots of the wave and sometimes you think your going to fall but the board will be there for you."

There is a spot in Sal, Cabo Verde where the locals guys (the champ Ayrton Cozzolino and others) jump over a rock like this kitesurfing the wave. Strapless of course. Just a board ollie. I always been on the shoulder 😎

Reminds me of my 5'10 twin fin fish that Iggy down at Surfboard Shaping Company custom shaped for me in 1974. Fastest board I ever rode. 0-60 in .5 seconds....went off the back of it for awhile until I got it (myself) dialed in. LOVED that board at 4-6 Laniakiea. Still have it to! RIP Mr. Iggy - you were an awesome guy! That was actually about the same time Michael was starting to make a name for himself....how time do fly!

You guys know how much love I have for you, but being born and raised here and Sunset Cliffs San Diego where the fish was born by Steve Lis. A true fish is 5-6 or shorter with wooden Keel fins. No quad fins. Much love and respect Brothers ⚡⚡🌊

i love fish..the steve lis breed of fish...our waves dont have enough face to surf a keel fish in hawaii though..too much chop, need to be able to make quicker directional changes to stay in rhythm with the waves. hard with keels. i bet mason could do it. id love to see him surf an oldschool keel fish at medium size pipe. performance fish fix this problem for the average dude.. keep the glide but easier turning..best of both worlds.

@@Kiyobboy fin placement and how much toe 'the line from the tip of the fin to the nose- and also the 'cant' - the vertical angle of the fin i.e. 10° 15° makes a big difference in how the board will preform. Not to mention if your keels are flat sanded on the inside or they're dual soft on both the rail side as well as the inside. Keep the stoke alive brother 🌊⚡⚡

Jetty1502 10-15 degrees seems extreme. I Imagine it would lose much drive, though the wide point forward and straight rail line give the design drive too so I can see 10 degrees working. How bout the toe in and distance from the tail?? I shaped my first board a fish recently with MR style fins to combat tracking..the next fish I will take your comment into consideration .. double foil keels with maximum cant.. multiple ways to reach the same solution 🤙
