@EAyoruba-is5jh I think Ikoko is misrepresented with the image provided. Ikoko is hyaena in Yoruba but the picture that was provided is wolf which are very different animal.
The goal of going to this kind of programme should not be to win money but to support our language from not becoming extinct. If you win, fine, but if you don't win, it is not a loss, you have contributed to our society. In my view, all participants are winners regardless of whether they win money or not. I hope the programme coordinator let them know this, so that those who don't win money don't feel bad.
The goal of the program is not to win money, it is exactly what you said it should be, supporting the Yoruba language. However, using money for scoring is to spice up the game show, make it entertaining and also motivate the participants. Kunle Afod recently started YORUBA PROVERB CHALLENGE. He also added money to spice it up, but it is not about money. Even the exchange with Olofo around not erasing the money is entertaining. The program is not about winners or losers either, just being on the show in and of itself is an achievement. Hopefully the program lasts long and we keep enjoying them.
I loved this program very educative, exciting and funny. I just started laughing as money was going down due to the guest unconsciously speaking English.
Really,I will be very happy if more of this program can come on air.When you go to the northern part of Nigeria,they don't joke with their local dialect.It is the yorubas that will castigate you for not speaking English.That is the reason yoruba languate is getting unporpular in this generation.Obasanjo succeded in eroding history is schools which also affects background and culture in the land. May God help us all and help Yorubas.May our language not be replaced with fulani laguage.
