Jennifer Hale (FemShep) is probably the biggest female voice actress out there, she's easily the most prominent, her list of appearances is extensive to say the least.
yeah endorsing in a store with the male shepards voice will be so great. He's a great talent and i think his voice in the entire game, is the best adapted into the mass effect games :D
@MegaVolcano1 Because Shepard is supposed to be a semi-blank slate (as opposed to a blank slate like the JRPG silent protagonist, or the character-full main characters of a lot of recent games). It allows one to 'be Shepard' to a degree, where using too much emotion means we only 'direct' him to things.
I'm glad someone else sees that too; I feel like he really conveys emotion in me3 as opposed to the previous games; certainly puts him on par with the quality Hale brings.
Actually there is one cameo. On the Citadel you have to talk with Aria in Purgatory. She will tell you that she wants to help you by regaining control over the Merc bands once again. When you go to recruit the Blood Pack there are two or three Vorcha present. That is the only time though.
3:06 so much nostalgia, feel like starting yet another playthrough of ME1... then i remember how it all ends (in ME3), and i shudder back into the fetal position for the next few hours trying to forget it again
You know, I am appreciating him more and more. While I found his Shepard to be stale, it's been growing on me. That and the other bit parts he plays are excellent. He seems like a very genuine, funny guy.
What are you talking about, shepard does exactly that. Every other MaleShep line feels like one of those moments in the movies where the main guy is like "Get DOOOWN!!!" with that action [shit is going down] voice.
I think there should've been a preset face that looked like Mark Meer. I mean, he's a good-looking dude, and I've always figured that if you're a VA and good-looking, you should portray a character's likeness, not just their voice. Like how Nathan Fillion played Edward Buck in Halo 3: ODST, and the character was made to look like him too.
I feel like he should be in more material. His voice is so underrated. Jen Hale is in a ton of stuff. Maybe in the next Halo game if Sarah Palmer has a team (Jen Hale’s Halo character) he should totally be a spartan on it! He could also be a fighter in a Mortal Kombat/Injustice game
@mustbehiggy I think Admiral Anderson mentions Vancouver as one of the resistance bases left on Earth when you talk to him through the quantum communications aboard the Normandy.
He keeps it monotone in order for the player to input his or her own emotions. Shepard is your character, therefore he leaves his emotions up to interpretation by the player so you don't feel disconnected. Hale sort of gives Shepard her own character outside of what the player is feeling, thus Hale seems more out of touch with the player.
@MegaVolcano1 Wondering the same thing exactly. I had no idea hopw much he does in these games and it was a shock to discover all the other parts are done excelently...
I chose colonist background for my very first male and female sheps the first time I played ME1 Mark Meer fits a soft-spoken Paragon Shepard (Colonist/War Hero). Jennifer Hale is better for a more renegade brutally bitchy Shepard (Colonist/Ruthless).
***** There were times where I thought the same thing about Mark Meer, particularly in ME2 and 3. True, Hale can sound a little forced at times, but I noticed that more in the very first game.
and besides some of the dialogue you get in Mass Effect 3 makes no damn sense if you're not playing renegade or renegade/paragon.I blame male Shepard and nine times out of 10 I play male Shepard who is ruthless class and sentinel I also claim him to be sole survivor colonist on mindor. They also called him The butcher of torphin. But that was a slaver colony that deserve to die. My particular Shepherd is my sometimes but really don't want to cross him . Or else I'll throw you out the window.
Guys, guys! There's no need to argue; there's no accounting for taste - whether you prefer the male or female shepherd voice. I mean it's clear that Male Shep is clearly superior in every meaningful way, but people are entitled to their wrong opinions goddamnit!
@miclovin222 You actually see Vancouver in the distance in one of the scenes at the start and I remember seeing it and thinking, "Hold on.. that looked familure." then when I heard them say Vancouver i was like Holy shit! I knew it! ... I live there! lol
