You have to talk to EDI before ever visiting Liara in her room on the Normandy to trigger the line. The first couple of times I played ME3 back in the day was after the DLC had come out but I didn't purchase any of it at first. Funny now thinking back on how I triggered that line by chance that most people today will never even see now that the DLC is integrated into the game.

Back in the day I didn't have any of the DLC, so I got used to the original ME2/ME3 experience. It was only many years later I managed to get the DLC and finally see it all. To this day the DLC content for all three games sticks out as "new" to me.

The part where EID reveals Liara's secret i found it after the mission where i meet Grunt in ME3 if i recall correctly

Liara's friend Feron was captured while helping her recover Shepard's body (after the original Normandy was destroyed). I don't think she ever tells that to Shepard, I found that out from the comic.

I would love to know how everybody knows that liara is the shadow broker.. it's the worst kept secret.. but Liara plays a huge role in Commander Shepherd's life whether if your romantic or not.... And when you do little romance command a shepherd with liara.... You can tell how much she really loves the commander Shepherd so much so it doesn't matter what Ginger Commander Shepherd is now in my opinion Tali Zorah is my favorite video game character and she is the best romance option with male Shepherd and garrus is probably the best friend video game character and of course Commander Shepard's best friend whether male or female but he is the best romance option with the female Commander Shepard but liara is the second best romance option for both female and male Commander Shepherd.. and I do really enjoy the DLC Shadow broker in Mass effect 2 which is practically my favorite game of all time

I played through the games multiple times , but the last time I played through the trying to chase down the other Specter . I'm not sure what they did differently in the legendary edition but I couldn't figure out how to get that stupid taxi to move up and down I could only make it move sideways . So I decided well as much as I like that DLC more than any of the other ones in this game I'm going to end up throwing something if I keep trying . I don't play mouse and keyboard , and not one single button on my Xbox controller would do the up and down controls .

I may have got this interaction due to the fact I played Mass Effect 3 first and that's how I got into mass effect( well Mass effect 2 made me more of a mass effect fan)

You can't really call this RARE dialogue. Thousands of gamers saw this for two reasons: 1. They couldn't afford the DLC. 2. They started with ME3.

Definitely have to do Shadowbroker and Overlord. Arrival is skippable imo but if you are playing as a Renegade then completing Arrival definitely fits. If you don't complete it, in ME3 you're under house arrest for being with Cerberus rather than murdering 300k batarians, with the story being that Hackett's friend (the scientist you save) completed her mission of ramming the asteroid into the mass relay

It would be right not to repeat that mistake. But if she's too late to save her friend, if he dies, that's also her fault. She Probably deserves it. Most crucial dlc in ME is arrival, when I first played mass effect 3 I couldn't understand why I was in trial at the beginning of the game

When I played originally, i didn't have the DLCs and digital DLCs were still a controversial novelty. I didn't get to play them until Legendary Edition. Afterwards, it became really clear to me that particularly Arrival, Leviathan, Lair of the Shadow Broker and From Ashes should never have been DLCs at all. They add really important aspects to the series which fundamentally alter the context of the story especially the transition of ME2 to ME3.

on my first playthrough back in 2016 i didnt have any of the DLC so this is what i saw

Six: Jacob betrayed the Alliance cuz of his stupid impatience of the rules to join terrorist orginaztion, he's not much help if any help in ME3, Jacob's destiny is to promise you a beer that he'll never buy you and his most earnest wish is to give up a life of space adventure and start a family, but worst of all, after leaving Ceberus, he doesn't rejoin the Alliance, he's a traitor plus deserter of the Alliance, he must die don't do his loyalty mission, like both Andrew Garfield Spider-man said Not my policy plus like Tobey Maguire Spider-man said I missed the part where that's my problem, assign unloyal Jacob to Ventilation's shaft system job, he tries to close the blast door Shepard grabs the right side blast door, unloyal Jacob grabs the other door while a Rocket Trooper aims then shoots a rocket while Jacob peeks his head a little Rocket blasted then explodes on impact getting Jacob Killed.

This is the dialogue I had the first time I played the game because I couldn't get the dlc's lmao

I really love everything about this DLC except the Shadow Broker himself. I just never pictured a giant monster. Especially not one with a charging bull gameplay mechanic. It just doesn't seem like it fits the most connected being in the galaxy. I always expected it to be a mastermind VI, or some type of exceedingly vulnerable life form who HAS TO rely on information manipulation for survival since it has literally no physical defense. Oh well. Expectations lead to disappointment.

What I always found interesting in that last scene is that EDI talked as if she knew Liara before she became the Shadow Broker, when the very first time Liara boarded the SR-2 was to go to the Broker's ship.

I always feel like Liara moved on emotionally if not yet physically to Feron after Shepard died and when she asks you if you still want to continue, I tend to go "no, i can see you moved on, hope you enjoy it, bai."

In the end almost nothing changes, only dialogue. At least it changes the dialogue

I think this actually wasn't all that rare if you didn't have the money to pay for the DLC back when the original games released.

Considering it's the Shadow Broker _DLC_ this isn't really "rare dialogue" unless you're playing Legendary Edition.

I just cant stand not helping canon wifu AKA Liara. Also she not being a companion en ME2 you just HAVE to do shadow broker's lair DLC in order to being partnered with her. This was my normal playthrough. I never played the DLC. I remember ME1 Making a big deal about the shadow broker and then I dont hear about it again until ME3 and I'm just like ok. Is it just me, or was the shadow broker DLC not free before the legendary edition?

It's interesting to see what changes based on your choices, but Lair of the Shadow Broker is so much fun to play through I can't image ever skipping it. Plus I always get a giggle out of Shepard asking what weapons the taxi has. 😂

What about in 3 , on the mission to rescue the krogan female Eve? There is a yahg that smashes through a wall and roars at Shepard. If Liara is with you Shepard says , “There goes the next shadow broker.” I wonder if the line is changed or removed.

This is one of the worst DLCs Ever, but it is true, you don't have to play through that story at all, and FYI SHEPARD DID NOT FREAKING DIE, (Either Gender) NEVER GOT RESURRECT FROM DEATH, JUST GOT REBUILED FROM 2 YEAR LIFESUPPORT COMA Shepard Survived, the Commander Most likely fixed the Suit's Oxygen tanks OFF SCREEN, When entering the Atmosphere getting some Heat Radiation The Kinetic Barrier shields would have protected the Commander and it did, had The Best Kinetic Barrier shield in all of 2183, Number One Greatest Durability, but by the time the Kinetic Barrier shied went down the commander was already out of the blazing Atmosphere or Exosphere. (Not all planets have Atmospheres some have Exospheres like Mercury.) The Commander might have gotten a little fire, but not Totally with the N7 Armor + Plot Armor protecting the Commander, also the Commander would Have Put out the fire by either landing on the water or landing on the snow. Even if there was no water on that planet, the Commander still landed on the snow which made a soft landing. (Like landing on a pillow, heard that from Frozen.) There was a Woman that survived 33,333 feet in the air with no Parachute, So Shepard could have used any Biotic Implants to slow down the fall, Survived by crash landing on feet, barely landing on feet, put out any remaing fire on the snow, but ended up with broken mangled arms, broken legs also a broken neck, Shepard was unconscious, then got comatosed. Oxygen tanks were slowly getting wasted again, but the Commander's suit transponder was still emiting the emergency distress beacon, the Collectors already left that Galaxy, the transponder was not only emiting a signal to Military Personnel, but to anyone any ships in that Galaxy, close to that planet. Then shadow broker's minion's picked up the Distress beacon, rescued Shepard before the Oxygen Life Support tanks were emptied, put the Commander in to their own Stasis Pod, with Life Support, they were hired by the Collectors to bring in Shepard dead or Alive, then Cerberus with little help from Traitor Foolish Liara Idiot found the Commander, took back the Stasis Pod, She let them take Shepard even though they knew they use the Commander for their Purposes, she didn't see the body, she listened to Cerberus lies without even looking at the Comatosed body, she was a gullible fool. Miranda said She wanted to Put a Control chip in the Commander to make the Commander a slave, but she didn't not cuz of the Commander's good looks, attitude, nor plans But only because the Illusive Man ordered her NOT to, she's An obdient dog, They hooked Up Shepard to their Life Support machine spent 2 Years to Rebuilt the Broken Bones, Mangled Skin, and fix some Damaged Organs, so Technically Shepard was Still Alive, Just Barely Alive needed to fix The Brain as well, But still Alive nonetheless. The Commander herself or himself said that she or he was in a Coma. As for Liara... If there's one thing i would love to see covered, it's the namedrop of Paul Grayson in ME3, who gets mentioned out of nowhere and without context, and only people who read the books would have any idea who this guy is! And Anderson just mentions his name to Shepard, and as far as i know, there would literally be no way for Shepard to know about him, unless Anderson or Hacket had already told them the story, which would make no sense, as nothing Shepard did before or after would have anything to do with what Grayson was doing or what happened to him...
