It's not a training program it's the highest ranking of special forces in the ME universe (N representing special forces and 1-7 representing rank). While they do have a training program for it, it is not a training program. Their training program is Interplanetary Combatives Training (ICT)
I should add that the N7 is exclusive to Earth. The one from the multiplayer that becomes a war asset you can build up is only N7 in nickname only, though it was originally led by N7 operatives. But because of the respect these groups gained, they allowed the nickname to remain unofficially
J Neto N7 the prestigious programme shorthand for November7, started by Admiral Anderson, requires you to survive space with nothing but your N7 spacesuit. Shepard was the only one to survive in the first batch of candidates.
this is taken from the Mass Effect Wiki: "Interplanetary Combatives Training (ICT) is the Systems Alliance's premier school for leadership and combat expertise. The Interplanetary Combatives Academy, sometimes called "N-School" or "the villa," recruits officers from every branch of Earth's militaries to partake in grueling courses at Vila Militar in Rio de Janeiro. Initially, candidates train for more than 20 hours per day, leading small combat teams through hostile terrain with little sleep or food. Trainees who do well are awarded an internal designation of N1 and are invited to return. Subsequent courses--N2 through N6--are often held off-planet and include instruction in zero-G combat, military free-fall (parachuting), jetpack flight, combat diving, combat instruction, linguistics, and frontline trauma care for human and alien biology. The highest grade of training, N6, provides actual combat experience in conflict zones throughout the galaxy. If the trainee survives these scenarios in "admirable and effective fashion," he or she finally receives the coveted N7 designation. N7 is the only ICT designation that may be worn on field or dress uniforms. There is little shame in failing an N course--the training is so extreme that even qualifying for N1 elevates an officer to a position of respect. The universal prestige of merely attending the academy helps to restrain trainees from taking excessive risks in pursuit of higher honors. Although ICT qualification by itself does not guarantee higher rank, those officers who are able to complete the program are typically well suited to senior leadership positions. " so yes N7 is the designation for the Elite Special Forces of Human Systems Alliance in the Mass Effect Universe. it would be the Equivalent of the Real Life US Navy SEALs or Delta Force.
He must have played ME1 a lot more than the 2 other games. In ME1 there are a lot of elcor in the presidium and in the embassies you can get to know them a bit. Same with the hanar whish he also referenced.
You guys have no idea just how cool your timing is for this. My younger brother has cerebral palsy and can only use one hand and using the right hand and his mouth he has beaten Mass Effect on the hardest settings through all 3 games. I am not making this up I can actually record him doing it it is amazing to watch I can't do it and I have two hands to work with. today he turns 30 and as soon as he gets back from his birthday lunch I will be playing this for him which she will get a huge kick out of he wasn't even supposed to make it until 20 years old and he's turning 30 today so thank you guys this is amazing.
I know you obviously didn't make this for him but it "feels" like you did since it is his favorite. Watching him play using his right hand for the right side of the controller and his mouth and tongue for the left side is crazy but you use what you've got.
The N program is like Earth's collective SEAL team programs. With N7 being the highest, the Top Gun, the best of the best of the best, sir! To be recruited/requested to join is the highest of honors, and the greatest of responsibilities. ...I'm mixing up my game and my movie references..
I was actually offended that they forgot that part of Vega's character arc. Like. His whole thing is that he was on the fence about joining the N7 program, right?
A SoullessDoggo I mean, it's a really, really tough program. As in most of the people who attempt don't make it all the way through. You can attain other N-ranks, i.e. N4 or N6, but there aren't a lot of people who make it all the way to N7. At least I think. The info is all on the wiki, and it's been a few years since I did research on this, so I could be wrong. No matter what, though, N7 is definitely a training program, just a really hard one, and not a lot of people have the N7 rank.
James got the N7 tattoo because he was offered a place in the N7 program before the war started and if you convince him to accept he will get the tattoo.
+jack chatham Purgatory in ME 2 = Prison Ship where Jack was frozen Purgatory in ME 3 = Nightclub on Citadel where Aria like to sit there, just chillin' PS: What is with Aria and morbid named clubs?? 'Afterlife'? 'Purgatory'? So...if she live to reach ME 4, will she be in a club named something like 'Limbo' or such? :p
Lol Jane sound so offended when he asked. To be fair tho, I would have been offended too. I'm super attached to Garrus, to the point where I call him 'Garr-bear'.
So much facepalming....Mike, how can you not know Garrus is Archangel? Or recognise Zaeed? I love you guys but I'm slowly dying inside watching this xD
hahaha i know, thats like..basic, like asking what the ship is called, or who shepard is? not knowing about tuchanka? sure, not everyone played the trilogy 5 times but still the interviewer, always forget his name, also is a mgs 'super fan'.. but, didnt know the difference between big boss and solid snake, literally one has an eyepatch
Awh I got the feels for Zaeed. Idk if you guys know this but the voice actor died not to long ago. He was one of my favorite squad members. Kasumi also
Yeah Robin Sachs (Zaeed's voice actor) has a special mention in the credits after you download the Citadel DLC. Citadel was the last thing he worked on.
+RedKrossSquad I've not played ME3 for a while, but I think you only discover James gets tapped for the N7 if you invite him up to your cabin and/or if you find him on the Citadel refuge area with the batarians when he's having the tattoo done.
Alex Ford I haven't played it since I completed it. But yeah, I just looked everywhere on the citadel whenever I came there. Also, I think he mentions that he perhaps would celebrate by getting a tattoo when you talk with him after he gets accepted into the N7 program. Or was it that you told him that he was accepted into it, I think that it was one of those mini decisions you get on your commander console or spectre console.
I found him dull and hardly remember anything about him. Coolest thing he did was crash the shuttle on Mars then after that he may as well have not been in my game lol.
N7 is not a special forces group its a vocational code where the letter is ones area of operation (N = special forces) and the number designates the proficiency (on a scale from 1 to 7)
Rangers may fall under SOC jurisdiction, but, they are light infantry, NOT Special Ops. When the US needs something destroyed, or, someone dead, they call the professionals, Marines, or, Navy.
Aside from the club songs, I got them all right. How in the world I knew Vega's pull up record I do not know, but as soon as I saw the question I just went "182."
+Oliver Smith the second club and Mordins complete song list are excusable but the rest? Anyone not getting all of the others deservers a pitiful. Played the game last over 2 years ago and would still get everything minus the complete Songlist (Model Scientist Salarian is far to catchy compared to the rest of his songs). Let´s spice things up for round 2: 1) How many seperat geth programms are residing in /compose of Legion during ME2. 2) Name three out of the four fully sentient species (single survivor is enough) that were around for the last circle (Reapers don´t count as they are artificial intelligences. Asari, Human, Slarian, Turian and the other species of this cicle don´t count as they were lesser species [Salarians were thought of as frogs, asari weren´t fully uplifted in time to count]) and made apperances in at least one of the three games 3) What happens next: Scene on the Normandy after the Shroud released the (fake) cure. 4) List the events of Grunts "birthday" (Full List) 5) Name the Giant Thrasher Maw on Tuchanka (It´s the only named one) 6) Morinths Fate in Mass Effect 3 if she was spared and where you encounter her. 7) List the prequesites for a Geth / Quarian Peace. (Full List) 8) the meaning of the word "Geth" 9) The name of the goddess of the Asari 10) Name two savegame carry-over bugs
I am the very model of a scientist salarian, I've studied species Turian, Asari and batarian, my science studies run from urban to aguarian, I am the very model of a scientist Salarian! *cough*
Wait, what's wrong with an N7 tattoo? I thought that was just the Spec Ops military designation? It's not like he got Shepard's face inked onto his groin.
My God, I got ten out of darn ten... I spent too much time in this game. (Wrong, you can never spend too much playing Mass Effect!) Edit: Upon a commenter pointing out my mistake, there are actually nine questions. Oops.
Mike Linners Because I sat down, and did every single of those quick time events. *Every one hundred and eighty three of them. It's burned into my mind.*
Gaming Master Anthony I knew it was definitely over a hundred since I did them all in one of my playthroughs. Mordin's songs have carved themselves into my mind since I'm more prone to remember sounds rather than images, I wasn't sure about the title of Mordin's song from ME2, even though I perfectly remember the lyrics, but I remembered "The Krogan Queen" and "Amazing Grace".
I wonder how long it's been since they played mass effect. To not know that Garrus is Archangel... There's a whole quest dedicated to finding him. And then when you do his loyalty mission, it revolves in large part around him getting revenge from a time when he was Archangel.
+Gaaxure Isn't Shepard the only soldier to ever reach N7 status though? Even though she/he doesn't personally own the rank, whenever anyone says the words "N7" everyone just assumes they're talking about Shepard.
Jose Delgadillo Nope. It'd be ridiculously impractical to have a designation/training program that only one person ever completed. Besides, there are at least three characters you meet in-game that hold that rank. Anderson, Kai-Leng, and the Captain you meet on one of the side missions during ME3. Think of it as tabs and badges in US army.
james got that tattoo because during on of the conversations you have in the cabin when he wants to talk he tells you he some how has been given the chance to join the N7 program
As a huge Mass Effect fan, watching them struggle to come up with the names makes me want to bang my head against the wall. Some of these are super easy. As frustrating as that was, it was fun for me to come up with the answers almost immediately.
+Nicholas Kjerland In prophase you'll see chromatids condense to chromosomes In metaphase their centromeres align to make new homes In anaphase they separate then telophase arrives And when cytokinesis comes two cells lead separate lives.
+Cam Miles Glycine Valine Leucine Isoleucine Alanine They all are aliphatic so you will not see a ring The lone human amino acid with one is Proline From protein we are formed For two hydroxic groups you'll find Serine and Threonine For sulfur look to Cysteine or to Methionine For bases you'll find Arginine and also Glutamine From protein we are formed.
1: Afterlife 2: Forgot the name, but I know where it is 3: Electrocutes him with that welder thingy 4: Psht, Garrus..... 5: Zaeed 6: Ah, fuck. I didn't give a shit about James 7: Tuchanka 8: N7 tatoo. He got it because they asked him to join N7, but he got it even though it wasn't official since the galaxy was going to shit. 9: I'm the very model of a scientist salarian, blah, blah, blah. I don't know the actually name of that song. I've played through this series many times. Got all my xbox characters to max levels, and then bought it again on PC when I built my rig and did it all again. My most favorite lore of any video game, except Star Wars.
Lucky. First the stress shortens your life span. Then you get good at it and the incompetence of all the players you get stuck with who haven't learned how to survive yet starts to drive you crazy. Somewhere around the hundredth time you ask, "WHY IS HE TRYING TO HEAVY MELEE THAT BANSHEE!?" part of you just gives up and dies. Strangely tho this is probably the point you get good enough to just carry everything anyway and that is when you know you have been playing a bit too much.
Da Best I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA GET AN ACHIEVEMENT GOD DAMN IT!!! The person who came up with this part of the game must've been a goddamn fucking salarian smart ass
I didn't get the name of the club 'Purgatory', I didn't remember how many push-ups James could do, and I only remembered the Gilbert & Sullivan-song XD Would I get extra points for being able to sing his entire rendition of it though? Well done, Jane!!
Ok ok I give in! I just bought Mass Effect. I'd never heard of it until I started watching this channel, and now I just keep thinking I must try it. You were right about Bioshock, so I'm blaming you if I hate this as much as Far Cry 4 which you also bullied me into buying
Which one of ones did you buy? Mass Effect 2 and 3 can be bought on PS3/Xbox360 (1 can be bought on the PS Store for PS3 but as a disc I think for Xbox360?) And then we have Mass Effect Andromeda coming out this year, I think.
Im proud to say i love mass effect and am a massive fanboy.I dont say it lightly when i say mass effect is my favorite game the trilogy togetherthat is .
Fyi, N7 was Sheppards rank in the human military before becoming a spectre. In ME3, Vega goes through the N7 training, and gets the tattoo to celebrate his new rank.
Wrong. Its not a rank, its more of a division. Like the Navy Seals are to America's military, Spec Ops, etc. So apparently your not included w/ "EVERYONE".
Garrus Vakarian Um sorry man but N7 is shorthand for November 7 which as the name says, was started on that day as an elite special ops unit by Admiral Anderson. The exam is that you have to survive a week in space using nothing but your N7 suit. I believe Shepard was the first and only N7 member to survive in the first batch.
N7 is not Shepard's logo. It's a group of, kind of like special forces that the alliance started. A special training programme that picks the best of the best from among the alliance, James get's invited to join them, which is why he gets the tattoo.
