They have now completely changed this whole area. After they completed all of the archaeological digs and studies to gain a complete layout of the death camp and mass graves, they have now covered this entire area including the ash mountain with white limestone. I'm glad that no one will ever be able to disturb the final resting place of many of the thousands of murder victims of Sobibor!
While that will ensure the dignity of remains, there may be better ways of doing archeology in the future. I think that future archeologists may need to determine fine points.
If I died here I would insist that my remains come to the surface to remind people of the crimes of the National Socialists. "You will not dare to forget me or how my life was wasted here!"
Important video. Was there myself, just a few days ago. Disappointingly, they have roped off the key segments of the site, and I was surprised the museum and the memorial wall have been demolished, waiting for the new memorials. Confirmed, however, that there are bone fragments absolutely everywhere......and as a trained anatomist, the trabeculae were easy to spot. The archeology has been covered over again with sand, and I couldn't properly identify the extraordinary finding of the real route of the "Schlauch".....
It makes me SICK to my stomach to show physical evidence of a bone fragment of a Jewish child, Man or Woman who was murdered innocently. It makes me so angry 😡 that if I ever come across a Holocaust denier that would have the audacity to tell me “there was nobody killed at Sobibor or Treblinka, Auschwitz/ Birkenau” I’m most likely going to assault and break their trachea so they can’t breathe
@@ChairmanPaulieD I think this video is proof of the suffering Jews and others endured. I believe it will serve as proof and actuality that these events happened for non believers. I'm glad he has shared this with my heartfelt ❤️ and sympathy to all the victims.
@@juliecaudill2845 especially when now the advances in modern technology that scientists could probably identify the DNA profile of the victim. If forensic scientists can solve homicide deaths then this is NO DIFFERENT
Frost/heat cycles to bring many things up from underground. The same can be seen on farm fields that were once battlefields like the Somme. The gracious method is upon discovery of human remains in such a hallowed place is to gently reinter the bone under soil with as little handling as possible.
@@ChairmanPaulieD The roasts would destroy DNA. Since the National Socialists wiped out entire families there is no one left to trace DNA. It is enough that the bones emerge to the surface, to remind those who would see that crimes happened here.
Glad you appreciate it. Deniers believe anything even without evidence as long as it doesn't go against their creed. When something goes against their creed, on the other hand, no evidence will satisfy them.
I wish Deniers would go over the figures and consider how stupid their objections are to what really happened. The Holocaust was actually pretty easy.... You only need a few hundred accomplaces with a lack of feeling for others. The rest of it was just knowing how to make people feel weak and vulnerable, then misleading them until it was too late. There was something demonic in how the National Socialists pulled it off. The National Socialists made a profit from this whole atrocity. A profit....
Good work Alan. Your videos are extremely informative. Having visited Sobibor, Belzec, Treblinka and most camps in Poland countless times, I can resonate with your information and locations. I hope to return there soon after COVID dies down more. Keep up the good work from a fellow avid historian of the Holocaust.
@@martinsmith1538 over 1.5 million people were killed in Sobibor, Treblinka, and Belzec. That means that over 1 and a half million people were killed in those three camps combined.
Good documented video, especially now the area has changed beyond recognition. Excellent work Roberto, was there back in 2012 and 2016, and recently, I am glad i saw the area "raw" so to speak before they underwent the mass changes.
@@GymChess, here in the U.S., at culturally important sites, cultural groups and/or relatives of the deceased are consulted before human remains are touched by archeologists. Umm, I would consider a DEATH CAMP where hundreds of thousands of people were EXTERMINATED to be a culturally important site.
So freaky, not one bird sound or anything, if you weren't talking it would just be dead silence. I guess even animals know of the horrors that went on there
I know the site - Harry Mazal wanted me to write for it too (unfortunately he died last year). In my case it is difficult to find the time as I have a normal job and am attempting to do several things on social media such as you tube, facebook and linked in. The site is very good but I feel I can reach more people with you tube! But thank you for the suggestion!
Don't speak for Jews, idiot. Who cares what you think. YOU didn't have dozens of your family members viciously murdered by the Nazis, so you need to STFU.
I'm all for the video I respect your narrative I do find the bones a step too far there's nothing you can discernin from them and the person was not there of their free will I'd just leave them be myself
Alan, would you be interested in writing about your research on the Holocaust Controversies blog site? You'll find the link to one of that site's blogs under the video.
themiddle of a dirt road is not the place to determine the soil consistency of a surrounding area... it is common to spread a sand layer over pathways consisting of high clay content...this is to prevent the sticky mud.
There is no question that Sobibor was an extermination camp. Why this amateur analysis of the crime scene? "I am not a geologist" but "this does not look like any stone I have ever seen."
I am so disgusted in this video, its nothing to do with jewish religion and not suppose to pick up the bone fragment or to prove to people it happened, it is respect for the dead, sorry but you seemed to enjoy holding that bone for far to long, I cant even watch anymore of it,
At Sobibor, outdoor cremations were supposedly begun in either the late summer - early autumn (Yitzhac Arad,in " Belzec, Sobibor & Treblinka' p. 171) or winter (Jules Schelvis,'Sobibor'. p. 110) of 1942. Arad writes that the bodies were buried in an unspecified number of mass graves “50 to 60 meters long, 10 to 15 meters wide, and 5 to 7 meters deep” (p. 33). Arad writes that “the whole area was swampy” (p. 30). A look at a 1933 map of the Sobibor area reveal several small lakes or ponds close to the future camp, as well as a number of marshy areas, including a smaller spot inside the future camp perimeter. Franz Suchomel,(Unterscharführer in the SS) who oversaw the liquidation of Sobibor, testified in 1962 that the barracks in Sobibor were constructed on top of “meter high piles” to avoid the danger of flooding. In an interview in the early 1970s he further stated that "NO KILLINGS WERE DONE IN SOBIBOR AFTER THE SNOW THAWED BECAUSE IT WAS ALL UNDER WATER” adding that “It was very damp at the best of times, but then it became a lake” (Sereny, 'Into That Darkness' p. 115). Arad says inmates attempted to escape through a tunnel (p. 311). The tunnel, which was planned by a professional miner, “could not go deeper” than 155 centimeters below the earth’s surface, because “there was a danger it might strike water.”Yet he would have us believe burial and burning pits 5 to7 metres deep.? Franz Stangl (Camp Commandant) describes the Gas Chamber as a “BRICK BUILDING” (Sereny, Into That Darkness, p. 109). Erich Fuchs,(SS-Scharführer) says it was “A CONCRETE STRUCTURE”. Erich Bauer,(SS-Oberscharführer.) The gas chambers.were not made by brick or concrete "BUT OF WOOD" (Jules Schelvis, p. 101). Arad (Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka, p. 31) writes that the first building contained 3 chambers, each 4 x 4 meters, with a capacity of 200 victims per chamber, ( 200 people in a room 4x4 metres??????)
4x4 meters is approximately 150 square ft. A human "footprint" isless than 1 square foot. So it seems quite possible that 200 people might fit in a 4x4 square space, all standing and packed in.
Sobibor had two sets of gas chambers. One was made of wood with packed sand to provide a gas and sound seal. This was replaced with a second larger set of gas chambers made of masonry. The National Socialists determined that wooden walls absorbed biological materials, making clean up difficult. The newer chambers were easier to clean, thus preserving the illusion by the condemned that they were being deloused, not de-souled.
I've read capacity figures at Sobibor of 160 to 170 victims per 4x4 meter gas chamber. That's about one person for square foot. Children were tossed on top. The victims were compacted into the gas chambers by Ukrainian "helpers". We may wish to evaluate people from their era. The average American in 1930 stood 5' 8". Poles were probably of comparable height. On a ghetto diet many lost a great deal of weight. The average American of 2023 would be terribly cramped at one person per square foot.
Alexander Pechersky “1909-1990 “Sasha” >>> portrayed by late rutger hauer in 1987 film escape from sobibor,,,,,,, Sasha was one of the organizers in the uprising of the mass escape ,,,the escape was at a great cost but the world got to know what happened there before it could be covered up.
You can’t even tell if that fragment is an animal bone or not, dude you gotta understand that your still in the middle of some woods. Everyone knows it’s a real extermination camp and only idiots deny it. Just leave the bones there.
If it looks and feels like a bone fragment, that's what it is. But I picked those up in 2008, before they built the museum. Today there are probably none lying around anymore.
@RobertoMeuhlenkamp I recently read the book you co-authored the critique of MGK, and thought it was brilliant. Unbelievable how idiotic these guys are when it comes to methodology, research and so much more. Thought you guys did a great take down of their lunacy, which was informative and often quite humorous.
Great video! not at all offensive.. Actually, digging up the bodies to make a memorial is really gross. Why wouldnt you just put a regular memorial over the ground? Next time walk the perimeter to show the barbed wire trees and if the fencing had any electrical equipment in them still
«Until such a time as an independent crime scene investigation has been carried out at Sobibor your wild claims about this site will remain pure conjecture.» Is that a prayer? It reads like one. Do you also yell for whatever you mean by an "independent crime scene investigation" when it comes to crimes of people you don't like?
I've been to both Sobibor and Treblinka and searched both areas for over an hour each. I could not find any of these often talked about bone fragments, but this person apparently picks them straight off the ground. My guess is that nothing came out of the analysis of these fragments shown here. And what would be the point of that anyway, if there had already been archaeological investigations showing human mass graves? The fragments found along the path could possibly be from Jews spreading the cremated remains of relatives there.
+Sauron Merciful I hate to jump in but this has been pecking at my brain that no one in this comments has mentioned the obvious problem. Seems few people care to study Geology to understand how soil and sediment builds up over time, and would of buried ash and bone fragments from 70+ years ago under at least a few inches of rotting decayed matter, and sometimes even blow top soil, counting on how much in an average location builds year to year. Whether it's a shell casing, bullet casing, random ammunition dropped on the ground, medals, buttons, dead soldiers who were never officially buried and were lost. Most of this physical evidence from the war abandoned across Europe has already been buried by "Nature" itself. When you see those treasure hunters coming across relics from the war they're always under the ground, often a few inches to a few feet counting where. Most of this isn't exactly soil but decaying matter. For example a open grass field, new sediment builds up slower than if it was in the woods. Then you also have to take account for Erosion. In a desert with no plant life, no rain, remains will last often hundreds of years, unless buried by the sand. In a forest even a modest one remains can almost completely vanish within a year or two, under leafs, which decay and create new soil just end up burying it quickly. Even a blade of grass does this, in conjunction with fecal matter from even something as tiny as an ant. It all makes a different. To put it bluntly, these remains shouldn't be so easily found on the surface. This implies and supports claims that most remains people see on the surface at these locations are more recent. There have been entire articles, and documentaries revolving around Loved ones Returning the Ashes of their Grandparents and Parents to many camps, to be with those they lost so many years ago. It's actually a major problem for some camps as the Museums do not officially support these policies but people go ahead and let it happen anyways. Tragically for some museums it just helps spread the shock narrative as gullible tourist are none the wise, and likely why nothing is ever done about it.
People are spreading their relatives ashes at former death camps? That's really the best excuse you all have got? Commercially cremated remains also tend to be further pulverized into small bits, not the large bone fragments that are shown here.

He says "There is no evidence for Sobibor being a Transit camp" Nuremberg document NO-482 referred to by Senior Historian of the USHMM we find that the crucial part of Himmler’s 5 July 1943 directive reads as follows: “Das Durchgangslager Sobibor im Distrikt Lublin ist in ein Konzentrationslager umzuwandeln. In dem Konzentrationslager ist eine Entlaborierungsanstalt für Beutemunition einzurichten.” translation: “ The Sobibór TRANSIT camp, located in the Lublin district, is to be converted into a concentration camp. A dismantling unit for captured enemy munitions is to be set up in the concentration camp.” And in Pohl’s reply from 15 July 1943 (not 10 July as stated by Black) we read: “Gemäß Ihrer obigen Anordnung soll das Durchgangslager Sobibór im Distrikt Lublin in ein Konzentrationslager umgewandelt zu werden. Ich habe mich mit SS-Gruppenführer Globocnik darüber unterhalten. Wir beide schlagen Ihnen vor, die Umwandlung in ein Konzentrationslager aufzugeben, weil der von Ihnen erstrebte Zweck, nämlich: in Sobibór eine Entlaborierungsanstalt für Beutemunition einzurichten, auch ohne diese Umwandlung erreicht wird.” translation: “ According to your above instructions, the Sobibór TRANSIT camp in the Lublin district is to be converted into a concentration camp. I have discussed this with SS-Gruppenführer Globocnik. Both of us propose to abandon this conversion, as the purpose intended, viz. to set up at Sobibór an installation for the defusing of enemy munitions, can be realized without such a conversion.” The Reichsführer SS agrees to the proposal [made] by you and SS-Gruppenführer Globocnik concerning the maintenance of the Sobibor TRANSIT camp in the Lublin district in its present state, as the desired objective can be attained in this manner.” INTERGLOT: German to English: more detail...
