Aleksandr Melskii, who was born in 1937 in Ilyintsy and was living there during the war years, recounts how one night the Jews of Ilyintsy were rounded up, how he and his family went into hiding, while the Jewish woman who lived with them in the ghetto and whose husband was non-Jewish was taken away together with her five children and, finally, how the Jews of Ilyintsy were taken to a pit and shot dead, while the children thrown into the pit alive.
