I've never seen the second cover art. I tabbed out and clicked back on after it had transitioned. It was a pleasant surprise. Seriously, the transition between wistful confusion to desperate pain fits this album like a tailored glove. Beautiful.
that time i forgot the band’s name and was madly searching _headphones, bloody nose, manga_ and such trying to find this cover… listened to a bunch of _the pillows_ and it popped up in recommendations again. not seen the second art before, neat.
I had discovered this album maybe in 2021? a few months before my mother passed away after her funeral that night I had listened to this beautiful album again and EVERYTHING clicked my favorite refrain is i think from the second song, "Blue, Deep and Orange Day", some fans have translated it it means just about exactly what you think it means, if youre an english listener who doesnt actually understand japanese "If I'd be embraced In a blaze of love I'd end up breaking I'd end up being scorched By love and sadness" i think about this little collection of words all the damn time and it almost makes me cry, every time
weirdly enough I found this in like 2016 under similar circumstances. its comforting to know that there are others who understand the vibe, and how well the emotions come through even with a language barrier.
Well, while we're confessing stuff. When my Grandmother passed, I took on the task of putting together a tribute video/slideshow. I was in a time crunch, so I didn't have time to edit in music-meaning I could listen to my own playlists while editing. My Grandma had lots of nicknames for her grandchildren, and one of them was "Sugar." So lo and behold, in the middle of putting together this video, "Sugar" from the No New World album plays and completely destroys me (even more so than I was already feeling). My feelings were heightened because it's one of the few Japanese songs I vaguely understand the meaning of.
I started learning Japanese last year and can read in Hiragana and Katakana now. Currently Learning the 2600 Kanji and hope to be qualified as N1 in linguistic proficiency. It was the first language I decided to learn from my natural born English. I would say I'm about n3 in proficiency, I can understand the lyrics and these chorus's just hit right. Its weird how I found such an amazing piece of music. \ Thanks for uploading SEBOS, Time might go on but this music sounds like it could have released last night.
Aoi Koi is certainly one of my favourite songs of all time, that second build-up into an explosion of emotions is insane, it always makes me tear up when i listen to it.
