Massacre Recollection in Far North Queensland, Australia. Aboriginal Elders recount specific instances of frontier violence. The late Kenny Jimmy from Kowanyama, as well as Jack Muriata (Girramay), David Lawrence (Girramay) and Bessie Jerry, and Jirrbal Elder, Willie Masina. Also Dr Ernie Grant (Girramay) and Willie Brim (Buluwanydji), recounts indigenous people being shot and the use of poisoning as they were in the way of the invaders economic viability. It's way past the time to acknowledged this shameful part of our history and the truth about the frontier, and later (not covered here) the after affects of Missions and Government Reserves where education was to Grade 4. www.cairnshistory.c...

This is Australia , A country will never accept this kind of violence against First Nations people. For too long we have live in this country of lies and deception and hatred for our people. Racism in this country will never end . But other than that hopefully this story and many more will continue to spread through RU-vid and I hope sensible people will understand the true story of this country. Peace ✌🏽

Well done Tim Bottoms. Here in NZ our original people were mistreated under colonial rule but our tribulations don't even come close to what indigenous Australians suffered. I love Australia it's a beautiful country! But try as I might not to judge I find the inherent normalisation of the nastiest racism among 'white' Australians shocking. So wtf Australia? Why is this story not nationally taught, told and acknowledged? Shame on you for your paltry modern apologies!

More and more descendants of settler families are speaking out the truth of what was done in removing Indigenous people to make way for their sheep and cattle. Susannah Henty and David Marr are among them. The stories are out there in written records of the time and not just in the memories of Aboriginal families. Australians have chosen the great silence rather than the truth but the history of our settlement is an open wound that will not go away.

Very interesting video, good to see where the stories came from (past elders). I am a "new Australian" I arrived in 1949 and through school and general knowledge knew of the massacres in a general way. it seems things change over time and it was not talked about much. I know my people were not to blame and I understand the grief that the relatives go through but I can't talk about it every day or say I am sorry every day. There are multiple written records from Europian settlers, stored in archives within libraries, that cannibalism were an indiginous custom. Eating children was one of them. There are also written records from Chinese sailers around 400AD and Dutch sailers before English prisoners were dispossessed of their land, who witnessed current aboriginals massacring pygmies. Today's ancestor's committed genocide toward the first settlers - pygmies. The truth should be told

However there are PLENTY of contemporary eye witness accounts of obscene violence against aboriginal women by other aboriginals in their own tribe including spearing them, bashing them over the head to the point of unconsciousness, rape etc. As well as PLENTY of contemporary eyewitness accounts of inter tribal massacres. Oh, speaking of which look up the queensland based Native Mounted Police. But you will NEVER hear ANY of this on the ABC, SBS or in the Sydney morning herald. Nor in any ,mainstream media.

There are sites of mass graves dated older than the white mans arrival and just live White people like to cover these atrocities up the massacres by Aboriginals are also covered up. White people were massacred too and this usually brought retaliation. Yes, but they were operating a long way from their own territory (c.500 miles away), so the nations that were set on were considered as enemy, combined with QNMP policies which threaten these troopers with dire consequences if they resisted. The Native Police was a state instrument which operating with official knowledge with rules which delineating how they could behave. The white officer's could not openly report on clashes with Indigenous people. To understand the context, I recommend reading Conspiracy of Silence, Queensland frontier killing times (Allen & Unwin, 2013), as well as Jonathan Richards, The Secret War, (UQP 2008).

Hmmm. Sorry, can't just accept stories handed down as oral history. Here is why. Up to 500 people massacred, and burnt to nothing even bones cannot be found. It would be impossible, to cremate 500 adult males in an open field. The high temperatures required for cremation (1,400 to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit) are difficult to achieve and maintain in an open field. It would take a very long time to cremate 500 adult males. And would require tons of wood. The formal one-person cremation process typically takes two to four hours, depending on the size of the body and the type of crematory equipment used. Here we are talking about an open fire in a field) In an open field, the cremation process would likely take much longer, as the heat would not be as concentrated. It seems to me that something happened, but the passing down of oral history cannot be relied on. This doesn't cast doubt on all aboriginal oral history, but it needs to have a basis in facts. Reconciliation will require both aboriginal history and settler history. It can't be one or the other.

It's a mystery to me how any British person could be proud to be British. They must name all the Australian places with traditional Names and title's. How dare they represent the Anzacs before the Frontier Wars. I have respect for the Anzacs because they are First Australians, also. But the Australian Frontier Wars are the most important. Because The First Australians were the 'First to died, defending Australia from the British invaders. Statue of Captain Cook removed in Cairns. After 50 years on Sheridan Street, the giant concrete statue has been pulled down. It's now ready for an Australian patriot Statue of Dundalli to replace it, indeed.🤟🤘🤙👍 Australian frontier wars are the most violent conflicts ever seen in Australia. This occurred because the British invaded and stole the country, not the Air raids on Australia, 1942-1943. Like the British write history. The worst criminals in Australian history are not Bank robbers, Drug traffickers, Australian criminal families or Americans. The worst mass shooting isn't even Martin Bryant, Port Arthur. The worst criminals in Australian history are the English, Cornish and Scottish, Irish. British colonies turned Australian into Britain, after the British trashed the UK. They arrived and chopped down all the trees for sheep. And trashed Australia. They have to also stop calling them settlers, there was no formal agreement of giving up property. So settlers are colonists and invaders. No such title as settlers. Settlers use a Pen to write a treaty. The Irish and British convicts and free settlers used guns and poison. The First Australians were the riches people on earth. Now they are the poorest. Living of the land for thousands of years until the British invaders and oppressors and persecutors and mass murderers arrived. Mungo Man and Mungo Lady. Australia's oldest human remains. The skeletons that rewrote human history. No British people could ever do that or be that important. haha

And of course the Aborigines never seem to mention that their kind engaged in the most horrid of human habits, Cannibalism. So why don't you Aborigines start telling the Truth about your Race and stop Lying and Playing the Victim Card all the time. British Colonists would have witnessed some of these aboriginal behaviours and decided that they were dealing with a very primitive and savage culture. So in a fight for survival the Colonists decided to protect themselves by striking first against an aboriginal threat.

Mr Bottoms do you not think that your video rewriting history and alleging these crimes should have some supporting evidence? I am not minimising such acts if they were committed but your video has a lot of hearsay evidence (burning 400-500 people would leave evidence that would be there today). Who committed these crimes? I have no doubt that such crimes were committed by both settlers and aboriginals as there was a battle for the land. There were also over a hundred "nations" who fought each other. There would exist government records and remains of bodies. Did you make any enquiries in this regard? You judge people of the past with your values(your opinions) of the present. That was a time of life and death for both settlers and Aboriginals. If you want to virtue signal and insult Australians with the claim of silence (How the hell are people to know if it was a secret) you need to : 1. Not dramatise the matter 2. Do some comprehensive research, not just one-sided hearsay 3. Do not virtue signal 4. Do not require any Australian to react in accordance with your pompous judgement 5. Accept that Australians are good people whom you insult by demanding they carry some burden (your claim in the video that you do not expect this is lip service) 6. Accept Australians are looking to the future and wish to help the Aboriginal people but this is being hindered by 6.1 An incompetent and enormous (as in large and evil) public sector handling Aboriginal Affairs at both State and Federal levels 6.2 Corrupt Elders and Aboriginal organisations 6.3 Race grifters both white and aboriginal such as those who showed themselves in the lead-up to the recent referendum. I apologise for the tone of this feedback which comes from being exhausted by the dishonesty, virtue signalling and un- Australian behaviors of the PM and YES campaigners.

Outside of all that political hogwash, just imagine how you could go from 100% indigenous population to 3% in only 198 years spanning the entirety of Australia including over 300 individual nations. 198 years is only 3 generations if each person were to live up to 66 years. In what context while being colonized could this result occur?

They treated our people like cattle. If Aboriginal people were not considered humans and more like animals why then do u think the government will keep records of that? When these things were happening Aboriginal people were seen as a problem or pests. Why do U honestly think they would be human enough to report the number of deaths...? And many Aboriginal women were taken advantage of by white men who ran these farms back in those days. Were do U think all us mix Aboriginal people come from. Where do think the term stolen generation comes from? Most of us Aboriginal walking around today even have a at least one white ancestor..
