Hi Abdul, I think to some extent I'd like to see Massena collaborate to make certain watches more affordable like Absinthe Massena LAB & Raúl Pagès. The 130,000 CHF Sylvain Pinaud x Massena LAB doesn't make any sense-at that price why did Pinaud team up with Massena? What do they offer? (I believe the movement on the Pinaud is by Comblémine!) Take care, Bill
For a guy who doesn’t like chronographs you shure have a good eye for them 😉, seriously: the examples which you talked about extremely well thought of (extreme detailed so as to acquire dials info. quickly). Glad to see that ETA not supplying their movements didn’t stop the watch industry, Sellita are supplying good affordable movements to the watch industry. Usually mono-pushers are almost prohibitive price wise but your examples open up the door to these($), beautiful dial designs!
John, there's a difference between not wanting a chronograph on my wrist, with a jumble of functions and sub-dials I'll rarely use and get in the way of the information I do use (the time) and not appreciating the horology behind them. I marvel at my own Bovet Mono-Rattrapante and you know I like the Rolex Yacht-Master II with the brilliant regatta countdown mechanism-that Rolex fanboys didn't care for (pearls before swine...) and is now out of production. So, you're right, not a chronograph fan for owning one myself, but love the horology. Take care, Bill
I should add by way of example actuation of the three monopushers. The Albishorn timer at 9, yachtsman wearing the watch gloved on their left wrist, while the Habring2 is at 2, akin to holding a stopwatch in your right hand, the Pinaud favours classic aesthetics over function so the pusher is at 3.
Hey Bill , you forgot my most favourite Massena collab its a watch named OLD SCHOOL by Luca Soprana the same watchmaker who did Derek Pratt wristwatch , Luca Soprana is one of my favourite watchmaker he worked at Vianney Halter and involved in TRIO and Janvier models he created movement of Halters Deep space tourbillon , Jacob and Co Astronomia , Concord tourbillon , Atelier de chronometrie caliber M284 etc. he even worked for Patek and Rolex very interesting resume and watchmaker i say .
Fun video as usual but I didn't care for any of them aesthetically until the last Unimatics. Perhaps if seen first-hand they would be more impressive. That last GMT was my favorite.
Hey Bill - very interesting … check out the earlier (first) collab with pagès … the magraph. a patek ‘margraf’ (1935) hommage with the M660 movement (small seconds at 6) … really lovely stuff 😮💨👌🏽
