I just did this to replace the steering wheel on my 1961 MF35. None of my pullers would fit between the chrome collar and the wheel hub.....so I positioned the puller jaws under each of the three wheel spokes....using a hose clamp to hold the jaws tight against the hub. I did leave the nut on the shaft to prevent damaging the threaded shaft. Soaked it in WD-40, put it under some tension and left it overnight. Next morning I began turning the puller, giving a couple of hammer blows on each half revolution. Had it broke loose in less than five minutes. :)
If you unbolt and take the legs off the puller and let the leg holders go over the wheel spokes and refit the bolts you now have a puller that won't slip off.
Jim Buford yeah i wanted to save it but u have good luck and bad luck with the tractor steering wheels - just now getting her back together - if it would just stop getting cold lol ............... Stan
