Yeah I agree on the shirts thing. I got metallic Vegeta half off at boxed lunch. I would have never bought it full price because I don’t care about the shirt.
That Admiral Ackbar is Awesome!!! I've been focusing on getting rid of all of my Pops that aren't Star Wars or Batman related. So many amazing pops just in those 2 lines, especially with the Mandalorian Pops as well. Love and support always -AJG POPS
Hi, I'm a new subscriber and really enjoying your video. I was smiling at the way that you don't want to look in the package because I do the same thing..LOL... I'm looking forward to your videos.
Love watching your videos. Makes me want to start my own channel. Been collecting Pops for awhile now. How did you get into collecting and eventually on RU-vid?
I honestly have been a collector since I was really little. As for youtube, I have enjoyed watching it since 2008 or so, but my son started getting into it a ton when he was little so that kind of influenced me to start a channel. Started with multiple channels, a comic one for a few videos then this one to be more of a kids toy channel but it sorted morphed into a channel about what I collect lol
I was looking for Simpsons pops back in the day because the prices had jumped to $50 each (They are so much more now) and I found a lot on ebay with him in it that cost me $7 a pop. His box is a bit banged up but I am super happy I own him. I need to find the rest still but at a few hundred each they are more then I want to spend. One day I know I will get them in a collection though.
Love your vids, I've got a few question for you. Do you follow the comic book industry regularly and do you watch any comic book based RU-vid channels. Have you ever had a comic book graded and what is your most expensive comic. Finally, do you ever go to comic book shops I've got one near me but I've only been once could you give me any tips. Thanks.
I am happy you enjoy the videos. I semi follow the comic industry, but not religiously. I probably read 1-2 random articles a week and follow several comic groups on facebook so if there is any big news I hear about it and if there is a hot new comic people are talking about I usually hear about that as well. I watch a bunch of comic channels, In fact I watch almost 0 Funko Pop channels since I already own so many pops they kind of bore me. But comic channels I love to watch. I like watching comic haul channels like Tom Ryan, Mercanaut etc. I Usually watch Comic Toms weekly top 10 show to see whats hot in the industry. I like Comics Explained to get a better sense of comic story lines since I dont read as much as I would like to because I am so busy. I own probably 10-20 slabbed comics that I bought in collections but I really avoid buying them in general because you pay a premium without actually getting more value. a $10 comic is still a $10 comic even if it costs you $30 in graded form. I rather spend my money on more comics. For future value its better to have 10 raw comics then 1 graded. The cost of the plastic does not rise in value with time so I rather keep that value parked in more comics or something else. Plus there is so much I want to collect that I have to make my cash work better for me. So for the same reasons I have not sent in comics to get graded because it does not increase the value of the comic. Yes it makes them sell for more. But if I do not intend to sell the comic for a long time then there is no reason to part the cash in a graded comic. I can spend $1 on a top loader (50 cents if I buy in bulk) and protect the comic just as well. I have 1000s of comics worth $20 or more in top loaders. Its my favorite way to store them. In the future if I decide to sell I will get the high end stuff graded. To me grading comics is a fast way to deplete cash etc. So instead I buy collections for a fraction of their total value. Keep the key issues and things I want sell the rest to try to break even or make a profit and repeat. If I started spending the cash on grading instead of buying collections I would be able to grade comics once and then be out of cash. Instead I can take the same money and spend it over and over again growing the collection with tons of awesome comics. As for comic shops, I absolutely love going to comic shops, but I rarely buy new issues. 90-95% of all new issues loose value in a month or two, so for new stuff I might pick up a few awesome variants here and there or something I really want to read. But for the most part I tend to buy collections and pick up comics that are newer but still maybe 6 months old etc. I rather buy 100 comics for $50 and fill in runs then spend $400 on those same comics $50 a week etc. If you are collecting for value on top of enjoying the art and stories I would try to pick up just the hot new issues that may be hard to get at comic shops and then later on buy the full stories in trade paper backs to read or find collections on the cheap to fill in runs.
@@popfuntoplay, damn I appreciate the time and effort you put into that comment. I personally live in the UK and getting books grade is sooooooooo expensive. It's like $20 for a comic to get graded and shipping is a pain. I have a comic shop that I have only been too once which was like a few days ago. He's probably the nicest stranger I've ever met he'll do anything for me and find any comic that I want. My aim is to work my up with raw comics and then go into graded comics. I want to get a certain amount of books that are worth sending out. Unless they are special to me, I would sell it and buy more. If you watch gem mint collectables he says, make the hobby fund itself. I love this idea so you don't have to go into debt for a hobby. Comic tom is great for the market side of comics. I like Very Gary comics for his grade books and him hunting for collections. I used to watch Dan co. He would do battle arena with different characters to see who would win. If you ever go into the comic shops again. I would try to look for year of the villains hell arisen it's the first appearance of punchline who is jokers new sidekick like Harley Quinn. Also Thor #5 is the first full appearance of the black winter. These books are hot and the first appearance of punchline could be worth alot one day. These will be hard to find though cause there so popular mainly Thor. Sorry I got carried away, I just love talking to people about my hobbies cause every over here in England only care about football. Your channel is what got me into comics. Not gonna lie I thought you were a bit weird at first but I watch a couple of your vids and I already loved your channel. I guess you shouldnt judge a book by it's cover. I love your energy and love for your hobbies. We're in a pretty messed up world, your channel gives me safe space from everything that's going on. Hope you do well in the future. Francis.
They just make so many its hard to keep up. I decided last year that I am going to try to keep my collecting to collection purchases so I can keep my money working and get more of the releases they put out slowly over time.
I just found my ultimate Grail by funko HIKARI ONI I got kicked in the nuts on price tag and Ebay took a big dump on me with the global shipping program on top of it, but I'd have paid double what I got him for 👌 Please do more Hikari videos
I love stranger things as well. I think when season 4 comes out most of those will get a bump. PS. I bought the Max Halloween costume one on Mercari. So thanks.
Yeah I agree prices will jump again with a new season. Right now is a perfect time to buy since prices are down a bit. Thanks for buying Max, shes an awesome Pop.
Which factors go into determining the market value of each figurine? Rarity? Wide popularity (or obscurity) of theme or source material? Date of release? Location/venue of release? Integrity of packaging? I know nothing about the product, and yet still find the value/price appraisal conventions to be very fascinating. Are they similar to baseball cards?
Like anything its supply and demand. Some figures have a high supply but high demand so the values still go up such as Pikachu or Michael Jordan. And some figures are rare but have high demand so the prices really sky rockets. Some figures are rare but no one wants them so the price remains pretty low. And yes a damaged box will drop the value etc. Very similar to baseball cards, comics or any other collectible.
@@popfuntoplay That's really interesting. Thanks for the response. I'm especially intrigued by the scarcity factor in relation to price evaluation. Interesting how their values appear to reflect the popular cultural momentum so accurately, seeing as they encompass such an expansive variety of TV programs, films, games, public figures, and celebrities - while likewise maintaining a very consistent scale and aesthetic across all figures. So if a specific design is based on an especially obscure and unpopular source, even if it enjoys the benefit of an exceptionally limited run, the market value will remain low. By contrast, very high-profile and iconic designs, with limited numbers of units manufactured, while also being from an original release run, will enjoy radically inflated prices. I've noticed how market saturation has negatively affected the price of Star Wars figurines, for example. Coupled with a reduced interest from children in the recent trilogy, plus a decreasing familiarity with the original films. Although my (limited) understanding is that Pop figures are primarily targeted towards adult collectors. Is this a fair assumption? Do you have a dream figure that's yet to even exist? The possibilities appear to be limitless!
Pop Fun To Play if you collect with american exclusive stickers over here in Europe, every pop is exspensive lol. That octo spidey would cost me at least €30,- with that target sticker.
Lol my boy traded you for the upside down will kinda cool to see it then have seen it in real life when he brought it over to show me..... u still have the 2 pk barb 11? Lol I told him you were into factory misprint s lol...
Selling on Mercari is a great way to clear out a few duplicates. If you have not signed up before, if you use my signup link I think they give you an additional cash bonus once you sell $100.
I got the patrick bateman chase couple days ago! Epic grail ( i had a small chance to get him ) so glad i got the chase , im very small collector compared to your collection
I am really looking forward to the Kamala Khan series which I think will lead to her in the MCU. I also look forward to the day they Bring Miles Morales into the MCU. As for older characters, I grew up loving the X-Men and the Thing so the Fantastic Four and X-Men joining the MCU is super exciting to me. Its going to be a fun new universe in the coming years.
Yeah in general Chrome is Lazy to me. A few pops stand out as kinda cool like the Batman and the Dragon Ball Z ones. But Marvel, Star Wars etc they just overdid it.
