This is our 2 Year Update and Review of our Massive 14 foot 6 Inch Floating Desk! We made some mistakes so watch until the end to see where we screwed up! Lol! Thank you for watching guys! Love you and Peace!
Hey hey, what's up Mike, this is Guys! Lol, I recently built a 15' long L-shaped floating desk in my newly remodeled basement (I didn't record it so it won't be on youtube) and I really appreciate this video because it gave me some tips on how to do it and avoid the issues you brought up: 1. I used 2x2 instead of 2x4s 2. I didn't glue the top, I screwed it 3. I cut the tabletop and the supports to the same length so I could add a trim piece in front that makes it look like one thick table 4. I used a planer and dowels to ensure the pine boards were even when glued together. 5. I used lag screws in the wall to ensure it remained rigid. 6. I put 5 coats of poly, not 7. I didn't want to put too much and mess up the wood as I've read happens when you have too much poly, but I did want to add more to delay the eventual scratches. Thanks for making this video and for being humble enough to share where you got it right and got it wrong!
Sounds like you have built an amazing floating desk! Glad to help and share my mistakes. FYI my desk is still solid and looks great! Thanks for watching!
