You have to ask, "Where's the water?" There was plenty of water After it was too late! The cause of a firefighter's death is usually Not the end result, it is usually the bad firefighting tactics that caused the end result to happen. Follow this logic backward to the beginning. 1.The floor collapsed on the firefighter. 2. The flammable gasses exploded when they came in contact with flames and were mixed with fresh air which explosively expanded and made the floor collapse. 3. The firefighters were using Straight Streams of water which did not eliminate the flames, while the streams of water pulled in fresh air through all the broken-out windows. 4. The gasses were suffocating and building up inside due to combustion but an inadequate air flow. When you vent a structure by eliminating the windows, you have to immediately eliminate combustion by soaking All the burning material. If you do one without the other, you are allowing the conditions to get worse, not better. If you just open the windows and then Blindly Squirt water into the structure, you are stirring the pot, and nothing gets cooled down.
