Hello David congrats on the massive 5K subscribers, well i started cyber security 2021 and i must say it must have been one of the greatest decisions in my life, i started off the security analyst path where i learnt about Linux, networking and more especially scripting, it didn't look interesting to me so i diverted to being a penetration tester, i started playing CT F's and got to learn from top you tube channels like John Hammond, i was learning alot from you tube mostly, how Linux works, OSI model, TCP, IP, python scripting and bash, i was seeing the progress day by day, but the only struggle i had was still this certification, i am based in Nigeria and things here are just really cost to get, so the certifications are things i do see people get online but still try my best to get, lucky enough i participated in a PEH course giveaway course from TCM and got the voucher, did the course along side Linux privilege escalation, i also learnt topics like pivoting, lateral movement etc, but what gave me the lead is active directory, i have always loved pentesting Active directory but have never had the opportunity to try it out in an exam environment, i believe this voucher will be a big win for me as i am still 18 and i will be going to school net year august, before then i really want to get a job and sponsor my other cert like the OSCP and PNPT, which i believe this voucher can be a starting point from, i believe it will open the eyes of my parents that online certifications are still worth it and i can make them proud by passing the CRTP voucher, I will be glad if you can consider me and once again, congrats on the 5 K subscribers, we are near 10 K and i would really love to see that, Thanks once again.
@@DavidAlvesWeb Oh my God, My joy knows no limit right now, I am promising you that this will not be in vain, i am really happy right now, Thank you Mr David, Thank you Altered Security🤗
Hello David, The way I started my journey is in University. I took a class and the professor constantly talked about sniffing and spoofing in the Introduction to Cybersecurity class. With information from you David I have acquired my Comptia CYSA +. I have also researched different learning platforms. Would like learn from altered security and improve on my skills. I am also pursuing my Masters in Cybersecurity. Its a tough and long journey but try to constantly learn and enjoy the journey that I am on. I wish everyone luck !
Hey everyone! 🙌 I wanted to share my cybersecurity journey with you all. I've been in the field for about 5 years now, starting off as a SOC analyst. It's been an incredible ride, and I've learned so much along the way. I recently transitioned into a security engineer role, and my goal is to dive deeper into the world of pentesting. It's a challenging but exciting field, and I can't wait to see where this path takes me. I'm really grateful for the experiences and knowledge I've gained so far, and I'm looking forward to continuing to grow in cybersecurity.
Was introduced to Cybersecurity in 2012 when I was a junior in High School from HackForums and Syngress books. From there I was doing things such as selling the ability to download & install Minecraft on our computer class PCs at school due to exec restrictions and the teacher never said anything either (I think she was surprised too lol). Also stole the SAM hash with SamDump on backtrack 5 when it was available 😈but could never decrypt it, from there I was pretty much hooked Fast forward to 2023 I have studied Cybersecurity on/off for the past decade as a passion of mine now having programmed some of my own customer loaders to bypass AV's etc which I never imagined I would be doing myself one day, especially under no formal training. I'm about to take my OSCP exam on Oct. 28th, never had a job in Cybersecurity but looking to add the CRTP under my belt as well to aid me in finding a job in the field very soon. Cheers!
Hey! I was introduced to cybersecurity many years ago when I was just 10 years old! One of my older friends (he was 15 at the time) had Kali Linux installed on his laptop and I remember him just typing commands that I had no idea what were doing, today I look back on that and find it so funny. That’s pretty much how much I was introduced to cybersecurity
I was introduced to cyber security by one of my former boss when he asked me to setup a site-to-site IPsec VPN on a Cisco PIX. It has been love since then ! ❤ I have now been working as a Blue teamer for a number of years and I’m now looking to learn more about the Offensive side of things. My colleagues of the Red team recommended me altered security trainings so this seems to be a great opportunity! Thank you and keep up the good work !
Congratulations! I got introduced to cybersecurity by watching Darknet Diaries. I used to work as an Amazon driver and while I was delivering packages I would listen to that amazing podcast. After that I decided to enroll into WGU and pursue bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity! Next year I will be graduating and winning this voucher would help me tremendously enhance my hands on experience!
I can't say for sure which book got me interested in cybersecurity for sure, but the several I remember piquing interest were Silence on the Wire, Bruce Schneier's books, and Hacking the Xbox. After those I found some Defcon talks, the most memorable being Johnny Long's No tech hacking--and after that the habit of glancing at screens to figure out what's running has stuck around, despite not having any *practical* reason to do it... So yeah, security has been on my mind ever since, even though I hadn't technically worked in an actual cybersecurity role until this year.
Hi David, I was introduced to Cyber Security last year when I saw an interview of a Hacker on RU-vid and he talk about why one should become and Hacker and how much responsibility it comes. That interview motivated me and boosted my interest into hacking. And from that day my journey into hacking started and I still thank RU-vid and that RU-vidr who interviewed. It gave the path of my life I was searching for😊
I got hacked many years ago. And once that happened I was interested on how and why it happened (without going into too much detail). And my eyes were opened on how easily it could have happened. So I picked it up as a hobby, and now x years + I am more and more getting involved with the community and realize how easily it can happen to the people that say "it won't happen to me".
I started back in the late 90s, with a couple of friends, back orifice, sub7, and whatever other trojans could slip by our AV. We'd have a lot of fun trying to fool each other into executing payloads while also carefully scanning anything we were sent. Unfortunately, I got carried away and almost arrested for getting into someone else's computer that wasn't part of our group, so I completely quit that life. Cut to today, I've been trying to launch my career from the duldrums of mediocrity. The ancient call of cybersecurity arose from the deep to remind me of what I really enjoy. Cybersecurity.
Online forms were my first introduction to cyber security. I remember reading one day and some guy describing domain attack. I was 14 years old and didn't even know what domain was at the time, but I proudly went to the rabbit and I'm still trying to figure it out today, 10 years later. I want to pursue this for a living, despite the fact that there isn't much of a community out here in Hargeisa, Somaliland, but the online community helps. Thank you for the opportunity, and keep up the great work.
I was introduced to cybersecurity through interest in computers and the internet when growing up. I recently changed my career by using a lot of self-learning and certifications
My introduction to CyberSecurity was college, i didn't think I would be interested at first since i mainly wanted to do just networking but I ended up liking it a lot and enjoying learning about it tremendously
I was introduced to this field when I was trying to find something I was passionate about. During college I tried many things to know what to do in the future but I felt that these things did not meet my expectations. It was until I joined a cybersecurity group to give this field a chance, and I loved it, I started with HTB machines. Having something I was passionate about made me feel motivated on a daily basis. Now I feel very happy to have known this field and very grateful to the people who gave me the possibility to know it.
Hi everyone! My introduction to Cybersecurity was through youtube on various infosec related videos, but my formal introduction to Cybersecurity was through a John Hammond's video called "MALWARE ANALYSIS - VBScript Decoding & Deobfuscating" and I said myself "This is cool, I wanna do this for a living!" then I binge watched a lot of John's videos and decided the offensive route. Now I've been a pentester for 2 years and I'm OSCP certified!
I was tired of working as an engineer, I was a registered engineer on the order and I was making 800€. After all that I did at college I was making less than a LIDL cashier, so I started a cybersecurity boot-camp and that's where I found my love for offensive stuff.
As a university student, my introduction to cybersecurity was greatly enhanced through participation in Capture the Flag (CTF) games. These immersive challenges provided a hands-on experience that brought cybersecurity concepts to life. During CTF competitions, I had the opportunity to work in teams and solve real-world cybersecurity problems. The games simulated scenarios where we had to identify vulnerabilities, exploit them, and protect our own systems. This practical approach allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
This is a position most people dream of, and it's time to show your skills. Mainly is the simulation hacker carries on the attack to the target business system, the point so far.
I was introduced to cybersecurity by a BBC podcast about Lazarus group. That was the beginning of this amazing journey. I earned the eJPT and went trough Altered Security LinuxAD lab/course, crtp is my next step. It would be amazing to get it. Than you for the opportunity David. Best wishes.
i was introduce to Cybersecurity by my friend niam and I'm kinda struggling in the beginning. But after so many times I try to learn by myself, I still don't get it that's why I need this course. :D
I was introduced into Cybersecurity when I first went to college in 2009. Back then, I didn't care enough and dropped out. I then spent over a decade doing manual labor jobs and landing in Law Enforcement. Now in my 30's, I decided to go back to school for Cybersecurity and attempt to transition to give my family a better life. I'm still working full time, going to school full-time, and being a father/husband, so a very busy life, but it'll all be worth it in the end. Appreciate the opportunity and good luck to everyone!
I was introduced to cyber security by some videos i didnt have anything to work with and now i can. I even started 1 week ago. So i thing it would be crusial smth like this because i actually cant afford smth like this. But i will be trying my best. Congratulations on hitting 5k too, lets go for 1 m now!!!
Getting into the cybersecurity industry was purely serendipity. When a couple of friends were looking for another job, they found a security company offering an internship in cybersecurity. On the basis of my own web development, I easily entered a security technology company and began my learning career in this direction
Hello was introduced to cybersecurity via a bootcamp I took which was just about cloud engineering but I started watching videos on cybersecurity which interested me more.
Imagine me as a curious digital explorer, wandering through the vast landscapes of the internet. As I delved deeper, I stumbled upon the shadows where cyber threats lurked. That moment sparked my interest in cybersecurity-an ongoing quest to understand and guard against the digital dangers that abound. Now, armed with knowledge, I stand as a virtual guardian in this ever-evolving landscape and the CRTP is the Way to get a lot of Knowles to me!
I got into security in a weird way. My parents used to set parental control on our shared PC and I kinda hated it. My first password cracking project was bruteforcing the parental control. I was in 4th standard then. Now currently working as a noobie red teamer ❤
My Journey Started about 2 years ago when i watched a series on Netlfix called Mr. ROBOT, This series covered all types of things in cybersecurity which sparked my curiosity and intrigued me to learn more then again i watched a series called La Casa de Papel popularly known asMoney heist which sparked more interest and i began to learn by videos and lectures like basically self learning all the stuff , every free resource possible after one year i came to know about that infosec has 2 teams like football same as attacker and defender ( red and blue team) then at starting i was more into red teaming but to begin my career as SOC analyst i learned blue teaming more and now currently i am learning red teaming, so i think CRTP will give me a edge to know how things work behind the scenes, thanks DAVID for organizing this giveaway✨🔥
That's awesome that you got into cybersecurity at such a young age! I was introduced to cybersecurity in a similar way. I remember when I was around 14 years old, I became increasingly curious about computers and technology. I started learning about coding, and as I delved deeper into the digital world, I realized how vulnerable our online lives can be.
I introduced myself with cybersecurity with a project that I was assigned to. I got great interest in it and got great learning from my seniors . Later I explored myself and self taught cybersecurity.
I was introduced to cybersecurity by a MR robots tv series. That was the beginning of this amazing journey. I earned the OSCP and want Altered Security LinuxAD lab/course, crtp is my next step. It would be amazing to get it. Than you for the opportunity David.
I was fortunate to be introduced to the world of cybersecurity through networking and the opportunity to work with a SOC team. Initially, I was in a completely different field, but a chance meeting led to a conversation about cybersecurity. I was fascinated by the challenges and the mission to protect against digital threats. As I started collaborating with the SOC team, I found myself in a dynamic environment filled with experts who were more than willing to share their knowledge. Learning from them, I realized how crucial this field is in our increasingly digital world. I've come a long way since then and continue to be inspired by the dedication and expertise of the SOC professionals. It's been an incredible journey of learning and growth in the world of cybersecurity! And now trying to work and find some good certifcation to get more hands on security where i find altered security one of the good Exams and i am quite intereseted in.
Hey , hopefully community doing great , I was introduced to cybersecurity back around 6 years back. In my school systems are controlled by AD but via Linux distribution which look cool and that's how I got interest in Linux and while working on Linux cyber arena come to my hand
TBH, hacking someone's wifi is the coolest thing someone can think of ( won't recommend doing it though 😂 ), so that got me started doing more research on hacking, then I found out John Hammond doing pickle rick room on THM, and my mind was blown as that thing looked quite interesting, thus I started playing CTFs. Also, Liveoverflow's catchy title track and quality of video made me explore reverse engineering and pwn. And that's how I end up starting my hacking journey 😊
I dont remember well, but I remember is that when I was a child I constantly get my mother's computer destroyed, I was just curios 😅 She calls an engineer to restore her computer, and set a password, so I find the way to bypass it to install and play videogames 😂 Thats how I was introduced to cyber security 😂
Hello i was introduced to Cybersecurity by my uncle who was an IT Engineer. I was so fascinated by his ability to solve computer problems for almost all the persons living in the neighbourhood. He was also a big fan of the film Hackers (1992). We watched this film so many times. He was so kind with me. During these times he hacked a lot of games for me. So that's why, i was spending hours on the computer. And sometimes also, he teached how to troubleshoot problems. An amazing man. Thank you Uncle!
Hey folks! My introduction into the cyber world was through being a police officer (I can hear the boos already! but I'm not one anymore... yay...right?). Since being awoken to cyber and all it has to offer, I've found my calling in life...as I'm fast approaching 40.🫥 So with being a late cyber bloomer I really feel like I'm playing catch up on other folks in the industry. Right now, having previously spent time learning all things DFIR, I'm delving into the red teaming side having recently completed a web app pen testing course. The CRTP certificate is on my list to achieve over the next year and this would really give me a leg up on my understanding (or misunderstanding 😭) of AD. Thanks and good luck to all entering!
My journey started when I first saw one of John Hammond 's youtube video solving a tryhackme room. Since then I've deep dived into the world of cybersecurity and have landed on a security job recently.
