Worcestershire sauce is shelf stable by the way. I've had open jars for 6+ months that have never once gone bad. My mom goes through it slower and has had bottles open a few years. It has so much vinegar and sugar in it, there's no need to worry. I've honestly never heard of anyone putting it in the fridge

Heads up on the aluminum free baking powder: it reacts with water instead of heat like its aluminum containing counterpart meaning once it's added you need to move faster. You can't make a double batch and leave the mix to sit while the first cooks, the second batch will have already released its bubbles.

When I did research on it, aluminum in baking powder isn't in high enough quantities to make it harmful. It makes it heat sensitive. Aluminum free baking powders are liquid sensitive, so if you use it, make sure you bake immediately rather than letting it set, or it may become inactive.
@vickimoore7646
@vickimoore7646 2 года назад
I agree. From what I have read the aluminum may leave an aluminum aftertaste but is not harmful. As Krista stated the aluminum free is liquid activated so don't let your your batter or dough sit too long before baking or you lose the ability to rise. The baking powder with aluminum is heat activated so it does not begin to work until those biscuits (or whatever) are in the oven.

and make your own! Its really simple. Its super intimidating i know but once you do it youll kick yourself for not doing it sooner its so easy honestly a kid could do it. And should tbh. Like you get your milk. You heat it to a certain temp on the stove to sterilise any bacteria that would basically stop the good bacteria your gonna add from multiplying and actually fermenting into yoghurt. You put it in the fridge to cool down to room temp. You get whatever container youre using for the yoghurt (i personally hve a fermenting machine its called the kuvings yoghurt and cheese maker but you can do pickles and anything you want to heat for a long time. Most yoghurt makers are glorified thermos that is zero electricity or anything or theyre a water bath system which is a waste of water and they usually have like maybe 2 or 3 preset temps and times like 12 24 48 hrs so you only have a very limited range of options and will often have to come back and restart the machine so you can add another 12 hrs or whatever. Plus of course the danger hot water and steam. The kuuvings one is super easy you can choose whatever temp you want and whatever time up to like i want to say 99 but i got it for the scd diet to make scd yoghurt which is 30hrs and 43C thats what ive got to i tried longer an slighter less temp and such anyway theres no water you pop the container it comes with via the handle into the machine pop the lid on and thats it. It heats up retains the temp and automatially shuts off when the timer ends. Its more like a slow cooker method. And you really dont even need to do that theres finicking around with an oven to keep it warm for that long OR taking all the trays out of you exalibur food dehydrator it has to be that style of dehydrator and putting your container inside setting the temperature and ideally a timer but you can always pop an egg timer next to it and if your unsure of the temp of the dehydrator just put a room thermometer style one inside the dehydrator and if your dehydrator door is clear you can monitor it that way the first time. But dont open the door before its done. Anyway yeah it basically becomes a mini oven which is what a dehydrator is anyway but yeah it would be a good size and most people who want to make their own yoghurt probably already have one but if youre into fermenting id get the machine since you can use it for anything and its small bench top and does everything for you. No fiddling around with things or taking up ovens for over a day or using insane amounts of electricity doing so plus it doesnt put off an external heat like dehydrators and ovens do so no worries about that especially in summer. But yeah all you need is milk i prefer organic cows milk. Id get raw milk if i was legally able to or hell even had the option of raw milk anywhere in my vicinity. Id have a dairy cow if i could. Anyway and some good yoghurt. It cant be any yoghurt but it has to be commerical yoghurt preferably fresh although starters are an option. You put in about i want to say 30g per litre of milk basically a tablespoon or two. And you mix it with the cooled milk. The reason you want to use commercial and not the last batch you made is because they have extremely high counts of live bacteria thats high quality and you just avoid any bifid containing yoghurts and yoghurt eith any additives. So it should be fermented milk essentially. Which is what youre making. Anyhoo i get farmers union greekstyle natural yoghurt. The scd yoghurt that ive made is very akin to greek yoghurt flavour. I mean you can add whatever toppings you want but if you hate greek yoghurt then youll probably not be into it. The reason btw that you want fermented true yoghurt and not thick sweet milk which is what store bought modern yoghurt is. Is because the good bacteria eat all the lactose down to like less than 1% and not only is it an amazing probiotic like frankly anything fermented far better than any tablet like small bowl of yoghut has more probiotics than like a hundred jars of tablets. Anyway the lactose is digested meaning its waaaay better on your body even if you have no issues with lactose and is superfood af. And just the way yoghurts suppose to be. Like even the good yoghurt youd use as a starter wont be okay to eat as anything but inside your yoghurt because its not been fermented or truly become yoghurt. So you really need that 24hrs minimum 30hrs max time to get true healthy human soul food. Any longer than 30hrs or so and the good bacteria will starve because there wont be any sugar (lactose) left for them to eat. And youll lose all the probiotics. Now when you put it in the fridge theyll go into a bit of a stasis and last for about 2 weeks before they die so id say a litre of yoghurt per person per week is a good estimate for anyone who has a small bowl everyday now dont heat it after you ferment it into yoghurt or youll just kill all the good bacteria. So sure use some in a bread or muffin or whatever but make sure youve enough for a small bowl everymorning usually with some sort of fat like a ripe banana that will help protect/absorb the probiotics and give you better results than eating it plain. Anyhoo i attempted to explain it haha Do your own research and such but if youre a beginner take the rasy option and get an electronic fermenter with a wide temperature and timer range that doesnt involve water bathing. When you do get ue to it and such you can always try out the other methods but honestly unless youve got like 10 kids and live on a farm with a dairy cow which hello im jealous haha but you really wont want to be making it anymore difficult than it has to be unless youre already making growing storing etc all your own stuff.

Since I went plant based around 8 years ago, I have just used plant based yoghurt (homemade and store bought) instead of sour cream and haven’t missed dairy sour cream even one bit! Esp coconut yoghurt is great and makes the yummiest dressings, dips etc. If the yoghurt is a bit thin, you just add it to a sieve lined with some cheese cloth, put it in a bowl and let it sit in the fridge over night or from morning till night and it will thicken up nicely. If you let it sit even longer, around 36 hours after it was made, you get yoghurt cheese which you can use instead of cream cheese. I would think you could do the same with dairy yoghurt too, but personally I even like the plant based version better… 🤗

I think the aluminum in baking powder can give a metallic taste to food, and as baking powder isn't used in huge quantities in a single serving it's safe to eat. Also, aluminum-free baking powder reacts with liquid, while with aluminum it reacts with heat, so when mixing aluminum free baking powder into dough it will start to rise as it gets wet

Aluminum free will eliminate the possibility of any unwanted metallic tastes in your bake & it also means that the "leveling agent" inside baking powder will start working once it's been added to the dough. Aluminum can also cause bone problems & constipation at lower levels & at higher levels it can cause memory loss & dementia.

Very jealous of your freeze dryer. I do love my dehydrators though, both are currently working overtime, lol. I had three but had to set one free on marketplace and now there’s another happy person dehydrating their stuff. I’m thinking of buying a new place with a bigger garden area in the spring. House might be smaller 😂 so this winter I’m doing a big purge. Funny how priorities change 😉.

Some advice on using Aluminum free baking powder. Always add it last. The Aluminum in the baking powder makes it so the baking powder is heat activated. When using non the baking powder is activated the minute it is added. So work quickly to get it in the oven and add it last so you have more time! 😊

Pam at Rosered Homestead has a recipe she calls fast beans. She takes dried beans and soaks and cooks them until they are tender. Then she freeze dries them. When she wants to use them in a recipe like chili or soup, etc., she just throws them in the pot and they take 20 minutes to rehydrate. They don't take up as much space as canned beans. You should use up the rest of your Clabber Girl baking powder and then move on to the Rumford.

Coming from someone with eczema, check those the baby wipes! Make sure to read the ingredients list on the wipes. Many baby wipes are organic and claim all natural. Yet still contain the ingredient "fragrance/parfum". Being a person who is sensitive to so many things, make sure to start your little ones life with clean and safe cleansers and smells (not that id assume otherwise!)
@rhondafelkins7337
@rhondafelkins7337 2 года назад
I would also recommend that you test the baby wipes out on yourself first because some wipes can hurt/burn when used on bottom/private areas, but not when used on your hands. If your baby cries during diaper changes when the wipe is used, please test them out on yourself, just in case it's too harsh on sensitive areas. Yes, some babies just cry during diaper changes but it is better to rule out if the wipes are burning their skin.

Yes, Most baby wipes have chemical preservatives and the remaining get mold and mildew. To make homemade reusable wipes, cut flannel into squares with pinking sheers. Stack fabric squares in a container. In a jar, mix distilled water, essential oil, and a liquid soap. Pour water mixture over wipes. Wash and reuse your squares. To keep homemade wipes absorbent do not use fabric softener or dryer sheets as they leave a residue which can irritate skin.

Becky, you can use paper towels as baby wipes when at home. I know someone with triplets who used the wipes when they would leave the house but kept a roll and a bowl of room temperature water on the changing table. So much cheaper and convenient, especially for those diaper blow-outs! 😅 Great video as always 👍🏼

@@nashnash7997 It’s interesting how you turned a compliment to Becky into an insult aimed at the people who appreciate her efficiency. I wish I could say “I wonder how she feels about that kind of “support”🤥, but she’s already made it clear in past videos. She doesn’t appreciate it! Apparently you can’t discern the cycle of giving. Becky inspires people and they encourage her to continue. Except for the occasional stressed ‘hater’ who gets relief from weaponizing compliments… Not to be confused with the stressed out people who find relief in being built up with a positive environment and efficiency tips that empower. Instead of trying to feel taller by tearing other people down. I’d wish you a good day, but something leads me to believe you’d spin that into an insult too. 🤪
@shockingdocumentaries4255
@shockingdocumentaries4255 2 года назад
@@nashnash7997 You’re right I misunderstood. 🤢 It should be taken as compliment when you assume that people who respect a strong work ethic, are lazy. It makes sense that if we complimented Becky for being efficient we’re lazy. If we say she’s nice, we must be mean. 🤮 Everything nice thing that is said, should be used to assume the person saying it is the exact opposite personality of the person they are complimenting, so you can insult them. If anyone doesn’t like it, they are clearly wrong. And deserves multiple gaslighting replies that accuse the other person of being a troll. Pointing out that you’re negativity isn’t appreciated and how far of a logical leap (assumption) you had to make to turn compliments into insults to the giver, clearly makes me the mean one. 🤒 If you say we are lazy and “It’s just the truth”, that’s clearly fact. You know us strangers better than we know ourselves. Clearly I’m the negative person who started it all. And turned your ‘factual’ ‘compliment’, the wrong way. 😷 Your gaslighting comments accusing me of doing what you’re doing, proved me wrong, about you seeming to turn the simplest comment into an insult. Like you’ve done from your first comment to this video. 🤥 I’m not sure how the duration of you following Becky supersedes you’re “non-positive messages, but ok! I’ll even go along with that. 🤔 I won’t even use the word ‘hater’ so I don’t trigger you. Any more than you already are…🤓 Your actions are clearly that of a lover. 🙃 My bad. 🙄 Clearly I should have ignored you, like EVERYONE else!🥱 It makes sense that someone who turned a compliment into an insult would continue to do so, belligerently. Hanging with you must be…. something else. 🤕 Scared that every time you say something nice to someone, that you’ll somehow here the opposite. Then when the person is insulted you tell them your assumption is fact, the insult a complimented, and the insulted person is a hater. I’m usually able to spot people like that and avoid them like the plague or kill them with kindness until they run away like a vampire running from the sun. But not this time. I didn’t mean to “Stir the Crazy’. Feel free to continue spazzing out, by YOURSELF! 🤐 You clearly have things you need to work on. I’ll pray for you and that you find the courage to direct your rage at whatever is making you so miserable. If you do find more happiness, please let me know. I’d find that inspiring and would comment positively to that. Hopefully that wouldn’t be spun into an insult. 😂 Otherwise you’re on your own and can argue with yourself. I sincerely wish you good luck. 😘 Peace ✌🏽

The best way to freeze half and half is to chuck it in the freezer unopened and in its original packaging. Because it's unopened, the product is not exposed to oxygen so once thawed, the half and half won't split. It will keep for 3 months.

Do yourself a huge favor and buy an add-on bidet. It fits right under the toilet seat,mand hooks into the water lines. For $50 or thereabouts, you can eliminate most TP use, and the water spray will help you heal faster postpartum. I use half washcloths to dry, and pop them into a net bag to wash. Use TP for #2 till clean, then wash with the bidet. The $50 one gets you warm water! They have them on Amazon. I buy only one 9 pack of TP a year now, just for my bathroom, unused by males. It pays for itself very quickly. Europeans have been WAY ahead of us by years in this fantastic appliance use! I hate to “go” anywhere but home now!

Yogurt and half and half will freeze very nicely in their containers for up to 3 months, if you want to stock up for later at some point. I do that regularly and it works great. Just let it thaw completely before you use it for the best texture. Though...the yogurt IS pretty good even when it's still kind of frozen! Last year for Christmas breakfast i made some greek yogurt that i flavored with lemon extract and topped with home made cranberry sauce and crushed cereal, then froze into bars. it was a delicious and healthy treat right out of the freezer.
