Clutter totally stresses me out in my own house! I have to have everything completely clear and put away before I go to bed. However I LOVE to clean up clutter in other peoples houses and at work. I sorted out the green room at work yesterday which I have been desperate to do for 2 weeks…. Sooooooo satisfying!!! I get such satisfaction from tidying up…. That’s why I have to live vicariously through watching you tidy up! I wish I could come round and tidy up for you! 😂

@@gettingtidy2495 ha! Well kinda! But tbh everyone has a different level of tidiness that makes them feel comfortable, id like you to find that level for yourself and have a way of maintaining it that doesn’t take up too much of your time, so you are able to focus on the important things in your life 😊. I’m at a point where I spend 10 mins at the end of the day just resetting the house to keep it clean and tidy. It means I have a lot of free time for everything else 😊. I just got rid of things in the house untill the amount of stuff I had was easy to maintain.

Hi Emma , I totally understand you feelings on the book for your daughter, for a long time now the world we live in almost tries to race children through their childhood . Children need to be children for as long as possible in my eyes . Your parenting skills absolutely mirror mine . I’m a Christian , and the power of prayer is quite incredible. Re flylady ? I’d conquer the clutter and then daily or weekly rituals will follow . Have a great weekend ! Love to all 🤗💐

My granddaughter is 20 months old, she makes a fair bit of mess when she visits, but the one thing she absolutely loves helping me with is laundry. I was sorting out her lunch one day & she wandered off into my utility room, I followed her & found her taking washing from the laundry basket & putting it in the washing machine. I wasn’t planning on doing my washing that day, but she did such a good job, only taking from the dark colours of my sectioned laundry basket, I just had to put the machine on. She earned herself a unicorn sticker for helping Nana. Now if I have some washing to do on the day she’s visiting, I wait for her & we do it together. She puts the laundry in & shuts the door, I do the liquid & fabric softener & she presses the button to turn it on, then we pick a sticker. Now, if I could just teach her to hoover up the crumbs she leaves everywhere…😂😂😂

HI Emma, if you have a lot of paper to sort, you can gather them all in one place or in one room in a big big bag. Then you can set the alarm for 5 minutes every day, just 5 minutes, and sort for that period of time. Everybody can make 5 minutes for even boring tasks. Eventually you"ll deal with paperwork and not feal stressed about it, and you will set the system by then for all the paper since you"ll see what needs to be kept for ever or what is to be temporarily kept. Love the videos, keep up the good work.

so much accomplished! Every ounce counts!! Many adults neglect their responsibility of difficult discussions and the schools seem to be left to educate these children on important issues. Puts you in having to ask the school to let your child be a child when as you said some 12 year olds act like 18 year olds. Sorry for you having to meet with the school on this but super that you are protecting her. Big HUGS kmh

Paperwork...Fill the sink with hot water and throw the paperwork in. Leave it for a while until it turns to mush. Rip it up into mulch and throw away. Or use it as mulch in the garden to help suppress weeds and improve soil quality. X

I ended up with that huge assortment of hotel freebies also and decided I couldn’t buy more shampoo or conditioner until I used them up. It took awhile but then I didn’t feel like I had wasted them. I did throw away almost all the lotions though as based on the smell they have a limited shelf life. Blessings from Texas!

You are realizing that even after you have made some decisions to save an item, that after going back through at a later date, you find yourself questioning why you kept it. That is part of the process and as you continue to declutter, you will get better and better at making that decision the first time around. As it is, you are making things better but also making more work for yourself. When you reach the point where you no longer have to fight to put something away or have to force a door or drawer shut, then you will be on the cusp of being able to just maintain. You will be amazed at how much easier your life will become when keeping things organized or cleaning. I would not recommend Fly Lady. She will clutter your mind to the point that you will question why you should do something the way she recommends. She is over the top IMO and unnecessarily extreme. Prayers to Rebecca and Richard. I will pray for you and your family and for a speedy recovery.

You're absolutely making progress. It takes time. Alot of things have an expiration date and sometimes if it's opened you will have less time. Especially for kitchen and bathroom items. A seasonal check in for those areas might be helpful for you. I have found that rotating my stock of items is very helpful for me. I still miss things sometimes, which is why I suggested a seasonal check. Kitchen and bathroom items are also less likely to have any attachment. Either you use them or not.

As an after edit... taking a timer on big jobs like paperwork might help you. Say I'll dedicate x amount of time and then once you start you might feel inspired to do a bit more.

Hi Emma, your kitchen is looking really good! I too am a sucker for taking hotel toiletries & would ask my husband to bring them home if he had any work trips. I ended up with quite a lot that I wasn’t using. When my children were still at school, near Christmas they would be asked to donate items to fill a shoebox for homeless people. As well as small items of food, we also donated some of the hotel toiletries along with sample toothpastes we’d got from dentist visits & I bought travel toothbrushes to go with them. The feedback was that those items were very much appreciated. Maybe there’s a local charity that you could donate some of your toiletries to so they don’t go to waste? I would love to hear about Mr Valentine. I am from England but I’ve never heard of him.

They asked for food & gloves & things, but I thought that toiletries would be a good idea. Sometimes having a wash, after you’ve ill or unable to for whatever reason, just makes you feel a bit more ‘human’ again, you know? Just makes you feel a lot better.

I think it is very important to be aware of what our kids are reading. I think that it is wonderful that you are taking steps to preserve your daughter’s innocence. They don’t have to grow up so fast. 12-17 is quite a large range to say a book is appropriate for…it better have nothing in it at all…if they are going to put that kind of age range. I have 5 daughters that I homeschool…they are always bringing up books they are interested in reading…but I always check the book out first. There is a young woman who reviews books for younger readers…the site is called Books for Christian Girls.

Hi Emma! Sorry I haven’t been commenting much but I have watched every single video in the past 3 weeks. My 92 year old dad ended up in ICU with a bacterial pneumonia and UTI. Poor guy has been very sick. He is stable now but still in hospital. We celebrate Guy Fox here!! Newfoundland (Canada) was once a British Colony!! We actually didn’t join Canada until 1949. John Cabot (Giovanni Caboto), an Italian explorer was authorized by King Henry VII in 1497, to discover unknown lands. Hence our name ‘new found land’. We share many similarities!❤ I hope I didn’t bore you with that piece of history. 😊 You are doing so well on your journey Emma, keep up the good work. ❤

I have to laugh every time I see you wash dishes over the last few months. There had been such a huge discussion a while back about items on your windowsill. Now this conversation has moved on and no one mentions what they see there. I was talking to one of my friends last night about her High School daughter who struggles with math. Once she gets it, she's solid, but it takes her awhile. I reminded her that slow and steady wins the race. Sounds a lot like the decluttering journey!
