You are always super kind to the people that recognize you. When you have someone next to you or who engages you that are sometimes kind of strange, you deal with them with kindness always. You don’t split 9s vs 7 because it’s 9/10 times already a winning hand. 18 beats 17, same reason why you don’t split 10s. You do split 9s vs 8 or 9 though because 18 doesn’t beat 18/19 so you take the chance to get a higher hand.
In vegas at high limit rooms they dont hit, but other places looks like they hit, its still 50/50 for players , on the same way they can bust and players win , and opposite as well
